And Into The Fire

~Mark

I was startled awake by the sound of screeching metal grinding against metal, making my head start to ache. When I sat up, I was relieved to find Jack awake too, standing and examining his surroundings. I felt like I was being dropped, but when I stood up, I realized I was on a rapidly descending elevator, the bright lights flickering on and off, and the dark gray walls around us rattling wildly like it would fly apart at any second. The only thing decorating the walls was a single poster of a humanoid animatronic that resembled a ballet dancer. Below read the word Dancer in a big bright colorful font. The poster flapped wildly in the wind from the quickly lowering elevator. I shivered at it's likeliness of a mannequin and stumbled slightly as I managed to wobble to the other side of the cramped elevator, still adjusting to the fact that we were still going down at an alarming rate. "Where are we?!?" Jack shouted over the sound of the elevator. "I don't know!" I called back. On either sides of the elevator doors were light gray vents that reminded me of the second Fazbear's Pizza. Overhead was a giant black fan that moved quickly like the elevator. Finally, the elevator jerked to a sudden halt, knocking Jack and I on our backs to the grated floor. When we got back up, we waited for the doors to open, but they remained firmly shut. Jack and I both pushed against it, but the doors didn't budge. In the upper left corner, I spotted a gray intercom device and a black phone attached to a cord below it. On the other wall was a number pad and big red button that I was tempted to press. "What do we do?" I turned to Jack. He looked as lost as I felt. Reluctantly, I gently pressed the red button to see what it did. To my disappointment and slight relief, nothing happened. Suddenly, a guy's voice began speaking from the intercom, echoing loudly around the confined metal space. "Hey, I was wondering when the night technician would show up. Anyway, I'll read you the new employee greeting since it's kinda a policy here. Anyway, welcome to Circus Baby's Pizza World, where family fun and interactivity go beyond anything you've seen at those *other* pizza places! With cutting-edge animatronic entertainers that will knock your kids' socks off, as well as customized pizza catering, no party is complete without Circus Baby and the gang! Not responsible for death or dismemberment. Now I know that sounds bad, but honestly it isn't. I mean, I'm doing okay so far at least." The guy paused for a moment. "Hope you have a good first night!" He finished quickly, the intercom clicked, signaling the end of the guy's message. "We could try the door again?" Jack advised. We both tried pulling the door apart again, but once again we had no luck. My fingers slipped from my grasp on the door, causing me to stumble backwards into the right vent. Before I could get up, I felt a hand grab onto my arm tightly, then start to pull me back. "Jack!" I cried frantically, reaching for his retreating form. He turned back towards me and grabbed my other hand. I felt like I was a rope being used for tug of war, and Jack was losing. I resisted whatever was trying to drag me away and at a painfully slow pace I took step after step towards Jack, my shoes sliding uselessly against the metal floor with a squeak. Jack was getting pulled closer towards me, inch by inch, despite the fact that he was yanking back with all his might, red faced with effort as he tried to anchor his feet to the ground, getting dragged with me despite his best efforts. After what felt like an eternity, whatever was holding onto me released its iron grip, causing Jack to pull me right into his arms and inadvertently tackling him to the floor, both of us breathing heavily. I was lying chest first on his chest, staring into each other's eyes, lips dangerously close. "Get off me ye goof." Jack groaned once he caught his breath, trying, but failing, to push me off of him. I smiled smugly and defiantly stayed where I was, watching him struggle to no avail. "C'mon, you can do it." I encouraged him as he shoved me in the shoulders, only making me lean back a little, then fall back onto him. "Really? Is that all you got?" I taunted. Jack muttered curse words under his breath as he tried rolling over to his side. I finally relented with an exaggerated eye roll, getting off of him mainly just to make sure nothing else would try to grab us. Just as I helped Jack up, I heard something bang on the door. Instinctively, I retreated away from the doors with Jack until our backs were pressed against the cold metal. There was another bang before the door shrieked open, being pulled apart by something either extremely strong or inhuman. My breath caught in my throat when the doors completely opened, revealing the same human like animatronic from the poster and a short animatronic that looked like a little girl with firey orange red pony tail on either side of her head. She was extremely pale and had glowing emerald green eyes. Jack seemed to be speechless as well, not tearing his gaze from the little girl animatronic. "I hate mannequins." I muttered bitterly under my breath, trying to fight down my rising panic. "Please don't blame us." The little girl animatronic whispered sadly, her voice sounding familiar. I looked back at Jack, his eyes filled with tears. "That's her. That's Emily." Jack took a hesitant step towards her. I shot him a warning look, but he continued towards her. I grabbed Jack's hand and pulled him back, not trusting what Emily became, if that even was her. "Let me go." He demanded sternly, voice shaking slightly as tears slid down his cheeks. "I can't." I told him softly. "You don't know what we've been through." Emily whispered sharply with hurt in her voice that made me want to let Jack go to her. But something in my heart told me that the little girl standing in front of me want Emily anymore. Emily-or whatever the little girl animatronic was called, neared closer to us with the humanoid animatronic dancing beside her, a wide fake smile painted on her face thst almost creeped me out more than the fact that she was humanoid. But as the dancer continued towards, my mind froze in fear, my phobia of mannequins taking over. "Mark?" Jack tugged on my arm, but I didn't move. I just watched as the dancer continued dancing towards me until she was face to face with me, her body spinning, but her head staying still except for bouncing up and down a little, staring at me with large lifeless black eyes. Then, there was a searing pain in the side of my head, followed by darkness. The last words I heard was Emily repeating "You don't know what we've been through."
