Six

Date: 29th June, 2017.

Fayth and Caiden ended up in the sketchy part of the town while they were running away from the guard at the Vancouver Lookout Point. They were in the part which wasn't considered 'good' or 'safe'.

There were boys aged from seventeen to men in their mid-forties scattered around in groups, some of them drinking and smoking God knows what.

The night was full of terror.

Fayth's stomach dropped because this part of the town was so familiar to her. She spent all of her time here, in this treacherous area before she got shipped off.

Caiden, however, was oblivious to Fayth's discomfort and was strolling casually through the desired roads. His hand was inadvertently placed around Fayth's shoulders, pulling her close to him.

Horrible flashbacks began clouding Fayth's mind, and she shivered slightly, holding back tears.

"Are you okay?" Caiden asked Fayth, noticing the change in her demeanour.

"Yeah, fine," she timidly replied, shifting closer to Caiden for comfort. She slipped an arm around his waist to steady herself.

They walked in silence; the gangs did not bother them as long as they stayed out of their way.

They walked for a few minutes until they came across Axel–– Caiden's rival.

Axel was twenty-five, with brown hair and grey eyes. He was quite a sight for sore eyes but his personality was ugly. Rotten.

"Aye, mate. Fancy seeing you here," Alex smirked, and Caiden rolled his eyes, sidestepping to get away from Axel, towing Fayth with him but Axel didn't give up so easily.

"What's the hurry?" He asked, not sparing Fayth a glance.

"Leave me alone, Axel," Caiden murmured, a sense of authority in his tone.

Fayth looked at Axel, her eyes wide. Axel? That Axel?

Why? Why? Why?

Why was her luck so bad that she had to bump into him. She had left her past behind her, after all.

-flashback-

The eighteen-year-old Fayth walked into the sketchy part of the town, her hoodie's hood covering her head and her hands in her pocket. She took small, cautious steps and walked further in, her eyes on the floor.

She walked until she reached a warehouse, Axel standing outside, leaning against the door frame.

"Did you get it?" She spoke hesitantly, taking her eyes off the floor and into Axel's.

"Do you have the money?" He asked, and Fayth nodded.

She put her hands in her jeans pockets and removed a bundle of cash.

"Here." She said, handing Axel $500.

Axel looked around and sneakily pulled out a white packet from under his t-shirt.

He handed it to Fayth, and she smiled in gratitude.

She physically relaxed when she had the packet in her hands, her stress leaving her.

She was addicted.

"Thanks," Axel nodded, and Fayth turned around, walking away, with the packet of cocaine stuffed under her hoodie.

That wasn't the first or last time Fayth had brought drugs from Axel.

-end of flashback-

Fayth knew Axel from before she went to the rehabilitation centre. He was a part of her horrible, terrible past which she wanted to forget desperately. Why was she being reminded of her foolish mistakes like this?

Oh, God. What if he recognised her? What would Caiden think?

She pulled her hair out of her bun and used them as a curtain to hide behind.

"So, Caiden. How is your sister? Does she miss me? You beat me in the race. It's only fair that I take something you love, after all," Axel smirked.

"She's six. Six. She's a kid. Why do you want to drag her into this? What do you want?" Caiden barked at him, losing his cool.

"She's a lovely, beautiful, six-year-old. I'd love to have her again," Axel pressed on further, and Fayth stood there, confused. What did he mean by again?

The vein in his neck popped. He clenched his fists, and his body shook with suppressed rage.

It was no surprise to the people that knew Caiden that he had anger issues. He had a short temper and got angry really fast at the smallest of things, and Axel knew that. He was taking advantage of that fact. He got under his skin, just like a place Caiden couldn't itch.

Axel had no intention of taking away Casey again, but Caiden need not know that.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of– Fayth, is that you?" Axel asked, surprised.

Fayth jerked up and timidly nodded. Dammnit, he'd recognised her. He took a step towards her, and she flinched.

"Not so bitchy anymore, are you?" Axel laughed.

Fayth said nothing and stood there, her hands clenched.

"I haven't seen you in ages! Come, give me a hug!"

Fayth flinched and took a step backwards. She shook her head. She was terrified even though she wasn't showing it.

Axel took a step forward and engulfed Fayth in a hug. She pushed him away but he wouldn't budge.

Then, Caiden, out of nowhere, landed a punch of Axel's jaw, making him stumble and loosen his grip on Fayth. She pushed him away with more force and put a distance between them.

"You don't touch a girl when she asks you not to," Caiden said, and landed a punch on Axel's nose, the sound of his nose breaking filled the silence.

Axel was pissed. He punched Caiden back, and that is how there was a physical fistfight in an alley at three thirty in the morning with Fayth begging them to stop.

Axel punched Caiden on the stomach, causing him to double over. He then kicked Caiden, which caused Caiden to fall on the ground. Not wasting a moment, Axel kicked Caiden in the stomach. Blood dripped from his mouth, and he stood up. Punches came rushing in, and Fayth begged them to stop.

Axel was huge compared to Caiden. There was no way in hell that Caiden was going to win. He could hardly defend himself, let alone attack Axel.

Fayth screamed for them to stop, but they paid no heed to her. She thought about stopping them physically, but that was a dumb idea. She could get hurt, couldn't she?

A few minutes of trying them to get to stop fighting, she decided to step in finally. She stepped in between them, barely missing a punch.

They stopped immediately. Nobody dared to move a muscle or hurt this girl.

"Let's get you some ice for that," Fayth said to Caiden, gesturing towards his bruised up face and swollen eye.

"It was nice meeting you, Axel," she politely told him and muttered a 'not' under her breath so he wouldn't hear it. Caiden, however, heard it and laughed.

"This isn't over. Look out for your sister," Axel told Caiden and walked away, his nose bleeding.

"Are you okay to walk?" Fayth asked Caiden, concern in her voice evident.

"Yes, I think I'm fine." He walked a bit and winced.

"Let's go to this cafe, I know. It's near, and it's open all day and night."

"Okay."

"We'll get you some ice for that, and something to eat," Fayth suggested, and Caiden nodded vigorously. He needed to ice his face. Badly.

Everything hurt, but he didn't regret getting in the fight for his sister. And Fayth.

Blah, blah, blah, this was so bad, ugh.
