Date: 26th May, 2017.

The moon shone brightly in the night sky. It illuminated the dimly light streets casting shadows on the well-paved roads.

In her dorm room, Fayth was reading, a book in her hand, flipping through the pages, excitement running through her veins. She was at the climax of the book, and nothing could take away the joy and thrill she was feeling. Fayth had her lip rolled in between her teeth to block out the squeals. For a second, just for a second, she closed her eyes and held the book to her chest.

Damn, how could a book be so good?

Her phone buzzed, but she paid no heed to it. It was 9 in the night, what could be so important?

Ignoring the message, she continued reading the book, fully engrossed in it. Her phone buzzed again, and she clicked her tongue. Letting out a sigh of annoyance, she fished out the phone from her pocket and unlocked it.

She had two texts from her best friend, Kabir.

From: Kabir

Hey.

Are you done with the English assignment?

Fayth shot up from her sleeping position. About what assignment was he talking? Panic completely consumed her. Her heart was beginning to beat at an alarmingly high pace, and she could feel the beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

To: Kabir

What assignment?

From: Kabir

The one which is due tomorrow?

The realisation set in. That assignment. The girl heaved out a sigh and locked her phone, putting it back into her pocket. She placed a bookmark on the book's page and closed it, setting it aside. She walked into her closet and changed into a set of casual clothes, and Fayth then walked to the door, slipped on her high tops, and walked out, locking the door behind her.

She walked to Bits & Bites, the most popular cafe around the campus.

The coffee and muffins there were heavenly. No matter what the time, the cafe was always packed. You'd be fortunate if you got a seat within ten minutes of entering the cafe.

The assignment could wait. Fayth needed coffee first. Maybe two. A strong one at that.

Fayth walked to the counter, ordering an espresso and waited on it. A few minutes later, when she got her drink, she slid into a booth, besides the glass that provided a stunning view of the road.

She placed her chin on her palm and gazed out of the glass; the vehicles passed by, leaving a trail of dust behind them. She admired the beauty and closed her eyes, making a chill spread through her.

Ugh, she had forgotten her jacket. Again.

Fayth was stressed. She had to write a thirty-page assignment, which was due in a few hours. How would she be able to do that?

So she just sat there, drinking her coffee in silence, thinking about her assignment.

"Faster! Faster!" Caiden heard the cheers from his car.

It was a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with the horsepower of 368. No doubt, one of the best and most expensive cars to ever exist there. It was yellow, and everything about it screamed 'Caiden'. It suited him perfectly, and it was his life. He'd earned it with his very own money, and he was very proud of it.

He just smirked in response because he knew he was going to win this race and all the prize money would be his.

He casually turned the steering wheel, still smirking as he rounded a curve. He was second in the race, and they just had five more laps to go.

A car raced past him, and now, he was in the third position.

No worries, he thought to himself. You got this, he assured himself.

"Caiden! Caiden! Caiden!" the crowd cheered and that put a real smile on his face.

The people loved him, supported him. They were there for him since day one. They believed in him when he didn't believe in himself.

He pressed his foot on the gas and his car lurched forward.

Four more laps to go.

In no time, he had overtaken the car which was in the second position, and now he was who was second.

The crowd cheered which made the adrenaline rush faster. Running a hand through his hair, he sped up even more.

He had one lap to go.

Caiden laughed a small laugh and pressed on the gas further. He winked at the crowd as he roared past the contestant who was on number one and he passed the finishing line, coming first.

The car screeched to a halt a few feet away from the finishing line, and Caiden stepped out, looking smug with a cocky grin on this face.

He greeted the other contestants, congratulating them on how well they did, and he stood and talked to them for a few minutes.

When they called his name, he jogged over to the makeshift stage and claimed his prize money, which was $10,000.

The crowd cheered, and Caiden bowed down to them smiling slightly, showing his respect and gratitude for them.

After everything, he looked at his clock, which read 10 PM, and he walked over to where his best friends stood.

You could say that Caiden was very popular, but he had only three best friends.

"Hey, man," Dylan said, clapping Caiden on the back.

"Nice race there," Tyler said, smiling slightly.

"Yes! You killed it, Caid," Aaron continued, agreeing with the other two.

Dylan, Tyler and Aaron. The only three people Caiden could ever trust. They always had each other's backs.

"Okay, I'm in the mood for some chocolate chip muffins," Dylan randomly said after a few minutes, his light brown eyes twinkling.

"Me, too," Tyler and Aaron agreed.

"You're buying," Dylan told Caiden, eyeing the bag of cash in his hand.

Caiden rolled his eyes, muttering a small 'fine'.

"Y'all wait at my place, I'll be there after buying the muffins."

"Bits & Bites?" Aaron asked.

"Bits & Bites," Caiden confirmed.

"Okay," The three of them chorused.

"I'll see y'all in a bit."
