Epilogue

Fayth lazily strode in the kitchen, dumping her bag against the wall, sighing heavily. Her last semester was almost over, and along with that, her student life. It had been three years since she had met Caiden, and nothing between them had changed. She stretched as she walked towards the CD player, and browsed through the options she had. She finally settled on a CD, which she was sure belonged to Dylan. As the song started to play, she busied herself with making some coffee for the boys. It was five in the afternoon, meaning all of them were about to be home soon.

Just as she settled on the table, the door opened and voiced filled the house, making her grin widely.

"I hear Troye Sivan!" Dylan exclaimed as he rushed over to where Fayth was, singing along already.

The others walked in, rolling their eyes, while Kabir smiled at his boyfriend, snickering slightly.

It had been difficult at first, for Kabir and Dylan. From the society Kabir was, being gay was considered a sin. Unholy. In his country, it was a crime (although, not anymore). His parents had kicked him out when he came out to them, but Caiden had taken him in. Kabir explored parts of himself with a little guidance from Dylan, and soon, both of them had fallen in love. It was not easy. The journey had included several breakdowns and the challenge of him accepting himself, but it all worked out in the end. Although it was a little sad, Kabir wouldn't change it for the world. Over the years, all of the boys had moved into their house (to put it modestly. It was more of a villa, honestly), and they had developed a routine. Fridays were for coffee and to catch up on each other's lives. They had a hectic schedule, but all of them made it a point to be at the dinner table every night if they did not have plans. Fayth would never admit it, but that had become her favourite part of the day.

It had taken Kabir's parents over two years to come around. It was an accident, really. Kabir's mother, Aisha, happened to be in the same cafe as the couple. At first, she sneered in disgust when she saw them, but she sat in the corner of the room, observing the boys. She caught herself smiling when she saw his son laugh and dip his finger in whipped cream, only to smear it across Dylan's nose, making him wrinkle it. Aisha had never seen Kabir that happy. She slipped out, unnoticed. Over the weeks, she thought about what had she done, and what had she seen. It wasn't easy for her because of the beliefs shoved down her throat from a young age, but she had come around. It took a little longer for Kabir's dad to accept him. They did not have the same relationship as before, but they were working on it. The first time his parents had come to meet Kabir, he was angry. He was furious. He told them off, and he told them if they could not accept him as he was, then he did not need them. He had a family; one which he had chosen. It was all very messy, but Dylan was there to get him through it. That night, Kabir told Dylan that he loved him.

Smiling fondly at the memory, Fayth shook her head and smiled at Caiden as she caught his eye. When he lifted an eyebrow in question, she shook her head and smiled, gesturing to Dylan and Kabir who were dancing in the middle of the kitchen, where Michael had joined them and was twirling Kabir around.

"Hey," Caiden greeted, nudging her foot with hers.

"Hey," Fayth placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth.

"I'm so fucking happy to be here. It feels like my whole life had led up to this moment," Caiden murmured, a soft smile gracing his features as he looked at his friends.

"Yeah, me too," Fayth agreed, spitting out a little coffee while laughing as she saw Aaron trying to dance along.

Caiden looked at Fayth, his heart filling with love, brimming over; he tried to collect them before they spilt off the edge. She was a mess. Her mascara was stained, causing deep black circles under her eyes; her hair falling from her bun; coffee stains on her shirt and a few drops on her chin. Laughter in her eyes. He slid his hand into his jean's pocket, wrapping around the blue velvet box he had carried around for weeks. He knew that they were still young. He knew that Fayth was still a student, and he just an intern, but boy, did he want to marry her.

Drawing in a deep breath to calm himself down and quell his anxiety, he slowly removed the box from his pocket. He got down on one knee, opening the box with shaky fingers. He dared to look up to her eyes and let out a nervous laugh. He did not notice the boys stop their dancing, their mouths gaping open. They knew he was going to propose, they did not know when.

"Fayth Rena Sinclare, I have wanted to marry you since the time that you hugged my sister and talked to her just like she was your own. You did not let her feel insecure about her deformity, and that was when I knew it was you. I know what was more than a year ago, but I did not have courage. But I am here now. You know, that night we met, when I saw you, I told myself that I would make you mine."

"I don't mean as my property of anything; you're your own person," he added hastily as if he was afraid to mess anything up.

"Fayth, you have grown as a person over the years, and we have had our differences and fights, but I wouldn't want it to be with anyone else. I know that we are different people from what we were three years ago, but we have changed for the better. We will change in future, and we will become different people, but I will love you through that. I will love you through everything, Fayth.

I know that you're afraid, but I promise not to trap you. I promise to let you fly. I promise you to let you spread your wings as wide as you want, and I promise never to cage you.

I love you, Fay. Will you marry me?"

"Yes! Fuck, yes," Fayth all but shouted and kissed Caiden with her everything before he could manage to stand back up or slip the ring on her finger.

Wolf whistles and claps could be heard around the room, but the engaged couple drowned it out. When they finally pulled away with shining eyes, and tear stained cheeks, they were congratulated, and Caiden's grinned when he heard Dylan whisper to Kabir, "That will be us soon."

That night, as all of them settled around the dinner table on the first floor, Aaron said, "So, Fayth, you have to thank me. You know, Bits & Bites?"

Fayth laughed because she knew what he was talking about. If it weren't for him, Caiden and her would have never met.

"Actually," Dylan started with a smirk, "Fayth should thank me because it was me who wanted muffins in the first place."

As Aaron and Dylan argued back and forth, Caiden opened his mouth to retort.

"Shut up. It was me who decided to talk to her, in the first place," he declared as he rested his hand on her thigh.

Tyler gasped. "Caiden! Hands off my girlfriend!" He said in faux anger, as he swatted Caiden's arm away from Fayth's leg.

"She's my finance, dumbass," Caiden laughed as he pulled her in for a kiss.

Yepp, she wouldn't change this for the world.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Aaaand, it's a wrap!

If you're reading this, thank you for sticking around till end. I know it was a long break in between, but I just did not have it in me to write this one. Anyway, this was supposed to be a long book, not a short story, but I'm quite happy with the way it ended. I wrote three different endings, but I decided to stick with this one. I love y'all. Thank you for everything x
