Every Valentines day someone is always left alone. But Jai was left alone for all the wrong reasons.

My brother was amazing. He knew how to solve all my problems. But there was a secret, past his smiling face he was sad. Not because of the life he was living, but because of the way he was living it. I still remember his face, no picture in the house could ever portray the way I saw him each and every day.

Last Valentines day I went to the store. I went for flowers, no a girl was not involved. The flowers were for Luke, my beloved brother that needed love on Valentines day. I bought the most beautiful bouquet of roses. I walked home with a smile on my face. Each and every corner my heart raced, I longed to see his face when he saw his gift. Luke deserved to be happy, and only I knew of his sadness.

As my house came into view I ran, careful to not ruin the flowers. Luke was going to be so happy, or so I thought. I burst through the door shouting, 'Luke! Luke! I have something for you!'. But there was no reply. I searched the house for him. Everywhere I looked he wasn't there. Until I stepped into the garage. My heart stopped. The roses dropped to the floor. In the middle of the floor Luke lay in a puddle of his own blood, note in his right hand, gun in his left. A camera was near the garage door, still recording. I ran over to it and shut it off. Hesitantly I clicked play.

"Oh dear god please Jai dont be the one to find me. I'll just grab a chair and talk, yeah that seems good. Like an interview, except it wont end like one."

He grabbed a chair and sat it in front of the camera then took a seat.

"Okay so whoever finds this you should know who I am. If not and you came because of the noise. Hi, I'm Luke Brooks. This video that you're watching is my suicide video. Hard to understand because of my face? Yeah, I figured. So basically I want to tell some thanks, uh so lets get started.

Beau, even though you aren't here anymore I still love you. That night when you died in the car crash was the hardest thing ever. To think, I may actually be seeing you again is hard to understand. Although I'm probably going to hell for killing myself, you died on accident. Please if we meet scold me to your hearts content, I really deserve it. Love you bro.

Mum, I know this is a surprise to you. You thought that those therapy sessions in 8th grade fixed me, I did too. I guess we were both wrong. Something in my mind snapped I guess, all those sessions down the drain. I love you so much and I hope you take care of Jai. He's the last one you've got, dont take him for granted. Never take him for granted, you will need him more than ever. As he will need you. I love you to the moon and back. Thank you for trying to save me when you could.

And lastly my dearest Jai. Jai, Jai, Jai, feels weird to be saying it so much. You know I would never want you to follow suit in what I am doing here. But if you ever think about it just remember that I am with you wherever life takes you. Valentines Day is always special for you. You always buy me roses, I give you cheesy cards. In my hand is the last valentine from me. Dont be sad Jai, I know you are. Everyone loves you, that smile of yours is bright enough to cure even the saddest of people. Dont blame yourself for not being about to save me. Its my time to go, and its your time to stay. Dont be stupid please. I love you so much, please stay safe for me."

He proceeded to move the chair and moved to the middle of the garage.

"I'm doing it with my left hand Jai. I learned how to make it stronger just for you. Dont forget to smile everyday, tell mum that you love her whenever you have the chance. I love you."

His body dropped and so did I. I ejected the SD card with shaky hands and held it close to my chest. I reached over to his right hand and took the small card. It had two dogs on it and my tears fell even harder. The same exact design as the first one he had given me, when we were so young. I forced myself to get up and I ran outside, only to find the sky was crying.

"Luke how could you leave me! I cant do this alone, I just cant, I wont do anything stupid I promise, but why today? Why the only day that I could make you happy? My smile cant save anyone if it couldn't save you, dont you see. Luke I need you! You have to come back, I cant do this alone." I yelled until my lungs were sore and I couldn't make out words.

Running back inside the garage I sat next to Luke's body and sobbed. For my heart knew the last valentine was given, but I didn't want to believe it.
