Luke and Jai have always been best friends. But one day Jai gets into a terrible accident and Luke is left alone.

"Mom I'm going to go visit Jai." I spoke softly while pulling on my shoes.

    She sighed, "Alright, but be back by sun fall."

    Nodding I pulled on one of his beanies and stepped out the door into the cold air. Something about walking to where Jai was made my day. Sure its hard without him in the house, but he lives somewhere else now. I found myself drawing nearer to his new home and I sighed. Stepping through the large gates I walked past bunches of flowers and benches. His garden is always so beautiful.

    I looked back down at the gravel path. Each step brought a stirring in the rocks. My feet carried me the rest of the way, the path is so familiar. Ever since he left I've visited him everyday. The good thing is mom and Beau don't come with me. They hardly visit. The bad news is, its just me. I hate being alone. Ever since I had the room to myself its been hard to fall asleep at night.

    Soon enough I stopped at looked slightly in front of me.

    "Here lives Jaidon Domenic Brooks. Caring friend and Loving brother. May 3rd 1995- July 22nd 2014"

    I pulled a bandana from my hoodie pocket and placed it on the ground before taking a seat. I opened a small chest next to the stone and picked a picture frame out from inside. Dusting it off I placed it on the small ledge of the stone and pulled the beanie from my head. Carefully I placed the beanie onto the picture frame and smiled.

    "Hi Jai."

    No reply.

    "How has it been out here? Cold I bet."

    The wind rushed through the trees.

    "Mom and Beau haven't been out here lately. I guess I'm the only one who still cares huh?"

    "The room is still so lonely without you. I tried to sneak into Beau's bed one night when I was sad but he just pushed me out. No one treats me like you did. You were so caring. Whenever I was upset you would always take care of me with open arms. Sure I'm the older brother but I sure didn't act like it."

    The wind's song mixed with that of the birds, creating a soothing yet saddening mood.

    "It should have been me Jai. If only I was more careful, then it wouldn't be like this. You wouldn't be gone, I wouldn't have to be alone!"

    I could feel hot tears rolling down my face, quickly chilling from the air's frosty breath.

    "Whenever I see a picture of you smiling on the internet I cant help but cry. I look in the mirror for a few moments before I look away because I look too much like you. It hurts Jai, it really does."

    I look up and the sky and noticed the slight orange hue.

    Wiping my face quickly I look at the picture, "Alright Jai, I'm sorry this was so short I have to get home before sun fall. I'll come back tomorrow okay?"

    Before I could grab the beanie off the picture frame I felt something bump my arm. Jumping I quickly turned around to see what it was. Looking down I noticed a small puppy rolling around in the grass. The dog looked me dead in the eyes and I knew in an instant that this wasn't just any old dog. I took the dog and put it in my lap, pulling the beanie over its head I looked at it and smiled. Only one person on this Earth, well anywhere, would have sent this dog. Placing the dog on the ground he sat waiting. I put the picture frame back in its chest and smiled before standing up.

    "C'mon Jai!" I called to the dog before running off.

    And what do you know, he followed.
