Rez hurries outside, only to feel the forest coming down.

Rez: "The forest is coming down?!"

Emarah joins him.

Emarah: "(horrified) What's doing this?"

She spots a hand axe in the middle of the panicking town.

Rez: "I'm going to check it out."

Emarah looks down at her useless arm.

Emarah: "I-I'll go too!"

Emarah follows.

Rez: "Just be careful!"

Emarah: "I can only try!"

They cut through the crowd and head straight towards the source.

Meanwhile...

Woman: "(remorseful) I'm the only one left."

The strange woman overlooks the carnage caused by the mutated Lucaros from the sky.

Woman: "Humanity will thrive."

She fades away.

Twenty minutes later...

Emarah: "(horrified) What the hell?"

The heroes have stumbled upon the mutated ball of black fur and goo as it slowly crawls towards town.

Rez: "That thing will destroy the town if we can't immobilized it!"

Rez's staff glows black.

Rez: "Black Scar!"

The black magic makes a large cut into it's side, causing blood to spew out like a shower.

Emarah: "What was that?!"

It turns it's attention towards them.

Rez: "(awkwardly) Me pissing it off!"

It groans as it redirects itself towards them.

Emarah: "R-Run!"

Rez books it deeper into the forest, but Emarah isn't as fast as him due to her leg.

Rez: "(in head) Her leg!"

Rez turns towards Emarah as she has a realization about what the creature is.

Emarah: "(horrified) Y-You?!"

She can barely define the face, but she knows who it is as she is paralyzed with fear.

Rez: "Get out of there!"

Emarah can't move as she becomes covered in the sludge.

Rez: "Emarah!"

The mark begins to glow again.

Rez: "Bloody Oath!"

Emarah's body is rejection the sludge.

Rez: "Emarah! You can't run from your past!"

Emarah is slowly moving through the sludge.

Emarah: "(in head) I can run..."

Two years ago...

Emarah is being beaten and bruised by Lucaros with her limbs functioning normally.

Lucaros: "Get on your knees and beg like a good little girl!"

Emarah: "(uncomfortable) S-Stop it! F-Father!"

He picks her up by her right arm.

Lucaros: "I love it when you struggle!"

He pulls out a knife and tries to stab her, but she catches with her free hand.

Emarah: "(uncomfortable) P-Please sto-"

A sharp pain pierces through her left arm and leg.

Emarah: "(in pain) Let go of-"

Her arm and leg go limp as the knife makes a deep cut into her cheek.

Emarah: "(in pain) I-I can't feel my arm or leg!"

She can see a woman gazing through the window as the knife falls out of her face.

Lucaros: "Good."

Emarah: "(in pain) Who was...?"

Present day...

Rez: "Black Scar!"

Rez is trying to get Emarah out, but he's only getting himself hurt.

Emarah: "(in head) That was the day they snapped."

Emarah clenches her weapon.

Emarah: "(in head) I can't go feeling guilty about my past!"

Another Black Scar allows Emarah to pull herself out.

Emarah: "I'm done letting you weigh me down!"

Emarah was almost at his head when she got chopped out.

Rez: "Are you okay?!"

She can see her hometown in the distance.

Emarah: "Better than ever!"

She pours all of her strength into running straight towards the head.

Rez: "I'll weaken his skull!"

Rez fires away at the skull, causing it to squirt out more and more blood with each strike.

Emarah: "I won't let you hurt me, mom, uncle, and anyone else ever again!"

Emarah leaps into the air and slams the axe blade straight into the skull, covering her in more and more blood.

Rez: "Emarah!"

Emarah is sent flying off as her axe begins absorbing black mist.

Rez: "Bloody Oath!"

Rez catches Emarah as any wounds she sustained from the sludge begin to heal.

Emarah: "Thanks."

Rez sets her down as her father returns to his normal, but very dead self and her axe drops to the ground.

Rez: "It's just like that moss back home."

Emarah reaches for the axe.

Emarah: "Glad to be rid of-"

Her mark begins to grow as she grabs the axe and mist flows into her body.

Emarah: "(in pain) What's happening?!"

Rez: "Don't fight it!"

The pain subsides as the mist finishes entering her blood.

Emarah: "(hyperventilating) What was that?"

Rez helps her up.

Rez: "I still don't know."

Emarah: "Huh?"

They begin stumbling into town...
