The Night I Dreamt In Jazz

...On that night I think we all thought uniformly,

As the golden gems watched warmly,

Flickering proudly on the horizon in their lightness,

Beacons of basking brilliance and brightness.

Tranquillity and hedonistic joy is all one could glean,

On board the musically majestic Creole Queen,

A quintessential picture of the melodic serene,

A harmonic heaven and paradise in-between.

Sailing against the soft symphony, the magic Mississippi,

Passengers happy, giddy and hippy,

As the sun set in its glorious orange hues,

We all relished the infectious rhythm and blues.

Under the patriotic flag of red, white and blue,

Our enjoyment had never been so pure and true,

As our minds were dazzled by the band, the sax,

Our pleasure grew, turned up to the max.

To seep pleasantly into each and every soul,

And to get us singing, dancing and swaying was the goal,

Lively tunes like stars twinkled for us all to hear,

Leaving each and every passenger grinning from ear to ear.

Moored under the silver miracle of Luna on the River Walk ashore,

As we eagerly begged and implored for an encore,

Not ready to leave behind a night that touched us at our core,

Fearing and weary for what the future had in store.

Frozen in time,

Caught in a rhyme,

Captured in a photograph,

The luxury we had, music, the ability to laugh.

The night I dreamt in jazz,

In all its magnificent razzmatazz,

Is a memory that's permanently set,

In my mind treasured, I'll never forget,

The night I dreamt in jazz...
