***********a week later******************

I had gotten use to being around Michael, he was beginning to become a gentle giant. He watched me carefully and sometimes I felt like a child. It was beginning to become tedious but at the same time I knew his intentions were to protect me. We communicated normally and he got use to talking more to me. His voice was always soft but deep.

I stood in front of the bay window in my room. It was overlooking the yard but it had thick black curtains that covered it in front of me so no one would see inside. It felt weird getting use to living here, being that I only lived about twenty minutes from this very spot. It was daunting but I knew he knew where I lived and if I left he would know where to look.

I felt him enter the doorway of my room and turned my head to see him. "Did you need something?" I asked. He shook his head and walked further in. "Michael, I want to go outside." I said calmly. His eyes darted to mine in immediate seriousness. "No." He stated. I turned back and looked at the back yard. It had a tall privacy fence and I was sure no one would see me if I slipped out and sat in the grass, it looked so inviting with all of the leaves.

"But, there's a fence and I won't make any noise." I said, completely turning around. "I said no." He reiterated. I huffed and walked over to him. "Are we seriously only ever going to sit inside and pretend this is normal?" I asked. He didn't respond but I could tell by the look in his eyes the answer was yes. I rolled my eyes and sat back on my bed. "Fine, get out of my room then." I snapped. He rolled his eyes and turned around, slamming my door behind him. If he was going to keep me locked up, fine. But I didn't have to act like I was okay with it.

*********hours later*********************

I heard a knock at the door and didn't answer. It was followed by another knock. "What do you want?" I said harshly. "Dinner is done." He said, pushing the door open to look at me. "Okay, I'm not eating." I said in a monotone voice. "Yes you are." he said, walking over to me and standing in front of me. I sat up, "You can keep me here, you can treat me like a caged animal, but you cannot force me to eat." I snapped, rolling over on my side to face away from him.

I felt an arm wrap around my side and life me off the bed. I huffed and went limp in his arms so it was harder for him to carry me. When we got downstairs, he put me on the ground and I straightened out my legs. I sat in the chair with food in front of me, staring at it. I was hungry but I was not going to eat.

He sat in his chair and began eating. "Eat." he demanded, sitting his fork down. I shook my head back and forth staring him in the eyes. He stood and slammed his hands down on the table. "Quit being a brat and eat your food!" He screamed. I was shocked at his volume and I never did good with being yelled at. Tears immediately flushed to my eyes and I quickly pushed my chair back and ran up the stairs. I didn't hear him come after me but I slammed my door and locked it anyway. He didn't have to yell, he could have just let me starve. I sat on my bed and began crying harder, bigger tears.

MICHAEL'S POV

I didn't mean to yell I just wanted her to eat. She ran up the stairs and I heard her slam the door behind her. I didn't mean to make her upset with me. I sat back down and looked at my food, no longer hungry. I put all of the left overs in the refrigerator and sat at the bottom of the steps.

I didn't know what to say or do. I didn't want her to be scared of me. She had no reason to be, I loved her. I wanted to protect her but she had to be here for me to do that. I walked to the backdoor and peeked my head outside, making sure none of the neighbors would be able to see me, even at my height. They surely wouldn't be able to see Kitty. She is so short. Maybe she could come outside, just for a little bit.

KITTY'S POV

I heard another knock at my door. "I don't want to see you right now." I said loudly. I was hurt, I hated being yelled at and all for not wanting to eat. "I have a surprise." He said from behind the locked door. I heard him jiggle the doorknob.

I walked over and opened the door, staring at my feet. "Yes?" I asked, feeling him stare at me. "Come with me." he said, leading me down the stairs. He handed me one of his jackets, it was huge on me but I slipped it on, confused as to why I needed a jacket.

He walked to the backdoor and cracked it open. Then he stood back and motioned for me to go. "Go ahead." I looked back and forth between him and the door. Without hesitating further I pushed the door open and began to walk outside. I appreciated him doing this so I turned around and looked at him. I'm sure it had been a long time since he just relaxed outside. I grabbed his hand and pulled him out with me, at first he didn't budge but then he followed me.

I walked outside and lowered myself into the grass. It had been a while since I had been outside and it was nice to feel the fresh earth below me. He stood over me, watching me lay back into the orange and yellow leaves, then he lowered himself so he was beside me. I stared up into the sky that was slowly mixing shades of orange and purple. I looked over at him and instead of looking at the sky he was looking at me. "Isn't it beautiful outside." I said, looking back up at the sky. He took a second to reply, "yeah, beautiful."
