XI
Alexandria's mom was a completely different person. It felt like she didn't know her at all. A night club? How on Earth, when did she start a night club and never talk about it? She must've had loads of fun, but she moved into a different career path and sat behind a laptop for as long as Alexandria could remember.
She wondered if she had given up this job when she had her, but didn't focus on it too much. Or at least she didn't intend to focus on it.
"You've helped run a night club mom?" Asked Alexandria. Her mother looked down and shrugged.
"It was about ten or so years ago, sometime after I met your father." The mom looked unsure of herself, but if her daughter was going to insist on asking might as well talk about it since they were here. She was still surprised that the company was still going strong even after she had left the business.
"Well, Mr. Copper Magnum was desperate and I was working at one of the banks and we coughed up a deal." Her mom began as they descended a set of stairs after the guard opened the door to the stairs and allowed the two to go in. It seemed that the guard was highly interested with the conversation as well. He had a smirk across his face, but Alexandria only hoped that he was interested with just the conversation.
Yes she was a Junior in Highschool who went to Timber Creek Highschool in California. Until all of a sudden they had to move to Maine, and now as the journey continues; Alexandria was just about to piece the puzzle together, but it didn't make sense to her. Why was she a mutant and how did this happen to her. Her mother didn't really explain much about why she was like this. Alexandria knew that powers came from inherited traits, but that could only mean that her father was a mutant.
Was she going to end up like Wolverine? Or would she end up being one of the other X-Men that had come and gone.
Mutants were quite common, but Alexandria didn't expect that she'll ever become someone like a mutant.
Though it had happened and now it seems that she's going to live on the run. However, her mother was fine when her powers had activated, she was just surprised that they had actually activated.
As the trio descended down the stairs and we're greeted by loud music and flashing lights, however there were no people on the dance floor. It made Alexandria feel a little uncomfortable as she slouched her figure a bit. Just no one in this room gave her the opportunity to hide behind anyone if something eventually turned south.
She hoped that that wouldn't happen. Alexandria also hoped that Copper Magnum a.k.a The Boss, would be a nice guy and not some old grouch like her science teacher was when she was a Sophomore at Timber Creek.
The trio walked across the dance floor and into a corridor that stretched about ten to fifteen feet. There was a door every other three steps on each side. Once further down the hallway they took a left and the doors in this left corridor had tags on them. Some marking "Private" or "Manager" of something, until they stopped at a door tagged "The Boss."
"Who is this guy?" Alexandria asked her mother. The guard turned his head to peak at Alexandria and smiled.
"Someone who really wants to meet you."
He knocked on the door and a stiff reply followed suit.
"Who is it!" The man behind the door responded. His voice sounded high pitched, but not like an elves, but Alexandria could've tuned the voice in some form.
"It's Ashely Ferris. She's here to talk to you about something."
"Ashely Ferris?" The man's voice behind the door cracked and the door unlocked. "Well... come on in."
The door slowly opened to allow the guests to walk into the room. Only to be greeted by a man of a small stature.
"Ms. Ferris. I'm glad that you have finally come to see me again. I thought you've stopped this kind of business?"
Ms. Ferris nodded and sat down in one of the chairs by the desk. Alexandria followed suit and sat to the second desk. The guard grunted and closed the door and stood beside it, his hands cupped behind his back, militsry-like.
"So you've come to get to Maine?" Mr. Magnum said. His small stature sitting behind the desk appeared to be more intimidating than any teenager could imagine. Alexandria slouched in her chair, his voice was higher in pitch, but his tone was masculine; and it was almost like he was being intimidating on purpose.
"Don't try that arms across your shoulder gesture." Ms. Ferris said as she watched her old companion take a seat and cross his arms. He looked to be about four feet tall, and had dark fluffy hair, and sunglasses that make him look cool. He has a suit that looked like he had gotten it from a pawn shop for ten bucks.
"So you need a safe passage?" Mr. Magnum asked. Ashely nodded.
"Yes, can you help Copper?" Ashely asked.
Mr. Magnum looked down at his desk, and played with his pencil collection.
"You know what, you give me two thousand credits and I'll help." Copper said. Ashely looked at her daughter and frowned then to her companion who's trying to rip her off right now.
"Are you kidding me, without my money in the first place you wouldn't even have this building. You still owe me." Ashely demanded. She leaned over the desk and slapped her hands on it glaring at Copper.
Copper pulled at his collar and looked everywhere else other than Ashely's face. Alexandria just watched the scene happen in front of her.
"Sure, I see what I can do. In the meantime you can stay in a guest room down the hall. They won't find you here." The Boss waved his hand to his guard and he escorted them down the hall into another room after Ashely said it was fine for now.
Hopefully.
