Avery's POV

I woke up before any of the other newsies so I took in the quietness. I usually don't get this in Brooklyn since Spot likes to wake everyone up early. I looked up to see Jack looking adorable. His hair was all messed up and his lips where parted just a little bit letting out soft snores. He looked so peaceful. I got out of his grip and got up. I leaned over and kissed his lips waking him up.

"Good mornin" I said letting out a small laugh. 

"Mornin. That's the best way Ise ever been woken up." He said as he had a big smile and grabbed my face bringing me down for one more kiss. Once we parted I walked over to the washrooms and got ready for the day. Today was the day that we see if we can win the strike. Lets hope that the sweatshop kids show up today. As I was finishing up the rest of the newsies woke up and started to get ready as well. We all finished and walked downstairs to leave.

"Hey Racetrack how are ya?" I said making small talk with Race since I haven't talked to him in awhile. Since he always goes to Sheepshead Races which is in Brooklyn I would sometimes seem him and catch up on things.

"I'm pretty good, same old same old like always. How are you and Jack?" He asked nudging me with a goofy smile which made me laugh.

"Well as of right now we are good. Its been complicated but we're good now" I said. We continued to talk about random things like the tracks and cigars which I don't even know how we got to that topic. We finally arrived to Newsies Square where we saw Sarah, David and Les waiting.

"Hey Davey. How ya feelin?" I asked seeing that he was still a little beat up but looking better than before.

"I'm feelin better and lookin better" He said with a small laugh.

"Wells that good to hear"

"Hows you and Jack? Are you guys good now?" David asked.

"I think we are good now, at least I'm hoping we are. I've forgive him about before" I said as I looked at Jack who was talking to Mush.

"That's good, I hope you two work out. You two are real good together" David said as we both walked over to join Jack and the others. We all sat around for awhile waiting and talking with each other. A few of the newsies seemed to be getting impatient as time went on.

"So whens the other comin Kid?" Mush asked Kid Blink as he was walking around.

"They ain't comin. It ain't gonna be nobody but us." Jack said getting up from where he was sitting sounding irritated.

"Hey you don't know that Jack, they could come" I said as I went over to him and put one arm around him. Les came up to us and Jack pulled him in for a small hug.

"Come on Jack" Snitch said with a little hope in his voice.

"Have hope Jack" Specs said after him. We saw Les walk away so Race followed him and so did I.

"When the circulation bell starts ringing will we hear it?" Les sang looking into the distance.

"Nah" Race said as he pushed Les' hat down playfully.

"What if the Delancy's come out swingin will we hear it?" Race sang as he pretended to hit Les making me laugh.

"No!" Les said answering what Race said.

"Atta boy" I said rubbing Les' back as Jack came behind us putting a hand on both of our shoulders. The rest of the newsies came towards us as we all looked into the distance hoping to see the sweatshop kids. We all heard singing which made everyone get excited and start looking around.

"Look!" Kid Blink shouted as he pointed to where the noise was coming from. We all looked and saw all the sweatshop kids coming our way including Brooklyn. Everyone was happy that this happened and that we could possibly win the strike.

There were so many sweatshop kids coming our way as they sang "The World Will Know." We saw Brooklyn and Spot was in front as he took out his cane and yelled "Brooklyn!" We were soon surrounded and everyone was cheering and patting everyone else on the back. We all hugged and I tried to look around for Jack who I lost in the crowd. I saw him with David as they hugged. I walked over to them and took Jack into a hug.

"They came Jack! I told you!" I yelled to him since it was so loud due to everyone cheering and singing. Jack just smiled at me as he picked up Les and put him on his shoulders. We walked through the crowed as I tried to find Spot. Soon I spotted him in the crowed and pushed through to get to him.

"Spot! I can't believe so many people came!" I yelled as I took him into a hug also.

"Me either sis! Lets go find Jack!" He yelled back as we again pushed through the crowd to get to Jack. Soon we reached him as we all continued to cheer. As we were cheering we saw some of Pulitzer's men come out. It looked like Race was telling Jack something but I couldn't hear what he was saying.

"I'll be back! Hopefully with good news!" Jack yelled as he turned to me. I leaned up and pecked him on the lips.

"For good luck!" I yelled for him to hear. I'm glad that Jack and I don't have to hide our relationship from the newsies anymore since all of them know by now. Word travels fast between the newsies.

Jack left with Davey and went inside Pulitzer's office. We all waited anxiously outside the building hoping that they come back with good news as we all continued to chant "Strike."  After what seemed like forever Spot called us over to the gates of the pape distribution center which was right next to the building. 

"Hey guys theys over here!" Spot yelled as he came to get us. We hurried over and saw David walk out. Soon after we saw Jack and everyone crowded around them asking questions. Jack leaned down and whispered something to Les and picked him up after. Once Les was on his shoulders Jack shouted the best news.

"We beat them!" He yelled which made everyone jump around and cheer. I pulled Spot into a hug as everyone continued to cheer. After I let go I ran to Jack and embraced him into a big hug.

"You did it Jack! I'm so proud of you!" I yelled as I continued to hug him. Soon Denton came over to us right as we saw the bulls arrive. Everyone yelled for Jack to run as newsies got behind him to block the bulls from him.

"Jack it's over" Denton said stopping Jack. Many newsies yelled no as we pushed Jack to run again.

"Don't worry Jack you don't have to run anymore. Come on" Denton said stopping Jack again which he then followed Denton cautiously with all of us behind him. As the bulls opened the carriage a ton of newsies came out along with Crutchy. Soon Snyder was put in the back as Crutchy closed the door and everyone cheered once again.

"Crutchy!" we all yelled excited to see he's out of the refugee.

"Jack you should have seen it. He came stormin into the refugee wavin his walkin stick like a sword and leadin this army of lawyer and cops..." Crutchy said before Jack interrupted him.

"Who comes walkin in?" Jack asked.

"You know your friend! Him!" Crutchy said as he pointed to the governor. Everyone was shocked to see him.

"The governor was very happy that you brought this problem to his attention. I said you might need a lift somewhere and he agreed, anywhere you would like to go. And this time you ride inside" Denton said as everyone else continued to be shocked by seeing the governor. 

"So can he drop me at the train yards?" Jack said as my heart sank. I remember Jack talking about going to Santa Fe and I'm happy that he's getting to follow his dream but I just got him back. I don't want to lose him.

"Yeah, if that what you want" Denton said.

"Come with me Avery" Jack said as he turned to me.

"I would love to but I can't Jack. I can't leave Spot and Brooklyn. I'm sorry" I said as I tried holding back tears and hiding it with a smile. Jack pulled me into a long hug before letting go and looking into my eyes. He leaned down and kissed me. We pulled away after a few seconds.

"I'll miss you" Jack said with sad eyes. I know this is his dream and he finally gets to follow it but it still hurts that he's deciding to leave. I really thought we were going to be together.

"I'll miss you too" I said as Jack started to walk away following Denton with the rest of the guys following him. I looked around and saw Davey so I went over to him as he was standing with Les and Sarah. Both Les and Sarah were crying as I tried to hold back tears and hugged Davey. I may have not known Davey for that long but hes been there for me a lot recently. Suddenly I couldn't hold back my tears anymore. I let go of David and turned to watch Jack leave. He got in the carriage and they started to leave. I looked at Jack and he looked at he. He gave me a small wave and smile before he turned the corner and disappeared.
