Chapter Ten - First Kiss
Yo! I'm back from the dead! Sorry to my non-existant readers for not publishing, but you're non-existant so I shouldn't be that worried. Just, why am I talking? Enjoy!
-------------------
Astoria sat in the library with books piled up all around her. She picked on of the larger books up and begun flicking through the pages until she found the one she was looking for and stopped to read it. The book was about charts that she needed to study for Arithmancy since she had a fair amount of homework for the subject. Of course, she was so enthralled by the book she was reading that she didn't notice it when a certain red-head plonked down next to her. That's Astoria for you.
"Hey," the red-head greeted.
"Oh! Ginny! I didn't notice you sat down," Astoria stammered, "sorry for the mess."
"It's fine, I'm not the one that has to clean it up later."
Ginny smirked and leaned towards the brunette slightly.
"Yes well, it's not a very good atmosphere to converse in. I mean - not that I don't want to talk to you - I do! I'm just saying it's not a very comfortable setting!"
Ginny raised an eyebrow, "You okay? You're all red?"
"Um, yeah I'm fine. Just a bit ... hot here!"
"It's actually kind of cold. If it's hot you could just take your robes off."
"Um - right! Forgot I was wearing them for a second."
Astoria set her Slytherin robe behind her and Ginny sat closer thinking about something. The ginger had come out to her friend Luna about liking Astoria, Luna was supportive but also gave her a suggestion on how to find out if the Slytherin liked her back. Luna had said that if she managed to get the girl to blush or stutter then she most likely liked her back. Ginny knew Luna was probably right, and so that's what she was doing. (Luna ships it! this is why we stan!)
When Astoria was done she turned back to find Ginny a lot closer than she had previously been and probably glowed like a Christmas light. She whipped her head and quickly picked a book up to hide her face and pretended to read it. Ginny smirked at the thought of Astoria liking her back and the fact that the book in her hands was upsidedown. So, she took the book from Astoria's hands and turned it the right way round.
"Might help if it wasn't upsidedown," she remarked.
"Oh, right ... yeah that would help..." Astoria was now even redder.
"You're very red. Are you sure you're fine?"
"Yep! Never better! I mean - I've been better before, considering I was in the hospital wing a few days ago. But I'm okay, I promise!"
Ginny placed a hand on the girls forehead knowing this would make the girl blush and hoping for any sort of indication of mutual feelings. As predicted, Astoria somehow managed to get redder, and felt a fair amount of heat in her cheeks. Ginny felt how hot her forehead was and moved her hands to cup Astoria's cheeks making it seem like she was only checking Astoria's temperature. Astoria reddened when she saw this and more than anything just wanted to kiss Ginny at that moment.
Ginny didn't move hands but made a comment that Astoria didn't hear. The two looked each other in the eye and silently agreed on what to do. Ginny pulled Astoria's face closer and her eyes flickered to the girls plump, pink lips, delicately connecting them with hers. Astoria closed her eyes and melted into the kiss, trying to savour every moment of it. The kiss was gentle and light with neither girl wanting to go too far and scare the other away.
They pulled apart for air and rested their foreheads on the others. Astoria had somehow moved so she sitting on Ginny's lap without either of them noticing until the kiss had ended. When the brunette realised she was on the other girls lap, she went back to going red and hid her face in her hands when Ginny chuckled. Astoria wasn't used to affection due to her angry and aggressive father, and so it was shocking when someone showed any sign of liking her.
Ginny placed her finger under Astoria's chin and brought her head back up to bring them face to face once again. She looked into the big brown eyes of the beautiful brunette and knew she was the one. There was no denying it any longer, and she saw that Astoria had come to the same conclusion. So, she pulled Astoria into another kiss and they both felt their stomachs flip at the connection of their lips.
"You go Ast!" They heard the familiar voice of Pansy call out.
Astoria jumped and curled into a ball to hide her blushing face.
"I ruined it didn't I?"
Ginny smiled awkwardly and Pansy left.
"Hey, it could be worse," Ginny pointed out, "it could've been one of my friends."
"I guess you're right there," Astoria chuckled, "Just imagine their reaction!"
"They'd probably yell and say something stupid like 'You can't date her! She's Slytherin'!"
"Just ... imagining that ... oh Merlin..." Astoria replied while laughing.
"I don't even think they'd let us be friends anymore!"
They continued to joke about all the possibilities of what might happen if different people found them. But they were so distracted they didn't notice when Hannah Abbott walked past and found the two girls laughing together. She was slightly confused by this and so she decided to listen in on their conversation.
"Oh man," she heard Ginny say, "if it had been Pavarti, Merlin we'd be dead meat!"
Why'd they be dead meat?
"Imagine it being Smith Jr.!" Astoria exclaimed, "Zach'd be telling everyone how disgusting we were!"
Why would they be disgusting?
"All the name calling!" Ginny answered, "We better be happy it was only Pansy!"
"Yeah, but she's probably told the whole of Slytherin by now!" Astoria remarked.
What did Parkinson see?
"Oh Merlin she probably has!" Ginny laughed.
"I'm expecting a loud applause when I get to quidditch practice," Astoria claimed, "Speaking of which I should probably head off."
"I'll help you tidy."
Ginny and Astoria put all the books in their correct places and Astoria was about to leave when Ginny stopped her.
"Meet me at the Astronomy tower after dinner."
"Bye," Astoria pecked Ginny on the lips before skipping off.
Holy shit! Ginny and Greengrass Jr.? Dating? This can't be real, Ginny would never betray Ron, Harry and Hermione like that. But she did ditch them for the Slytherins. No! I had to have imagined it! It's the only reasonable idea! Right..?
And with that, Hannah left to find Ginny's supposed friends and explain what she saw not knowing whether that was the right thing to do. But, neither Ginny nor Astoria would have it easy after that. That was absolutely certain. Astoria felt guilty, knowing she'd only bring sorrow into Ginny's life, but also knowing her father would never except whom she was dating. Ginny felt like there was something Astoria wasn't telling her, but she knew that Astoria would tell her when she was ready Right?
