Chapter Eleven - Yet Another Rumour

Hi! I know I stopped my Dramione one because i wasn't motivated and there weren't many readers, but someone asked me too continue writing this so I've dedicated this chapter to them! So, thank @Raeellad for that! Enjoy!

--------------------

The first quidditch match was just around the corner and Harry was starting to get antsy. He still wasn't sure who the new Slytherin seeker was, not to mention the trouble of Hannah and him clearly liking each other. Or the fact girls (the straight singles at least) were practically falling at his feet. Ginny found that quite amusing, but she also felt slightly guilty for not telling him Astoria was Slytherins new seeker.

She new that it was an unfair advantage on Slytherins part, but Harry had a Firebolt for Merlin's sake! He could handle just fine without the knowledge that Astoria was going to be his enemy in the sky. But that wasn't the only source of her guilt. Ginny wanted to talk to someone, anyone, about her kiss with Astoria. It had felt so right, but it confused the red-head beyond even thinking Hermione could help.

So she went to the one person she knew would be able to help. Luna Lovegood. Luna was, well Luna. She knew how to cheer someone up before they even knew they were upset. That was part of the reason for why Ginny had had a crush on her in their fourth year, but Astoria was much more than a crush. Ginny was in love with Astoria. No denying it. Whether Astoria was in love with her wasn't certain, but the red-head knew there was at least something there.

"Sounds like you've got yourself a girlfriend," Luna smiled sweetly, "I'm very proud of you. Why did you want to see me?"

"I don't know!" Ginny sighed dramatically, "It felt so right, but now I'm confused!"

Luna giggled, "Maybe I'm not the right person to be helping."

"What? Why!?"

"I think this is something for you and Astoria to discuss don't you think?"

"Damn you and your wisdom!"

"Well, good luck!"

And with that Luna skipped off, leaving Ginny alone in the Room of Requirements. Ginny liked to sneak off to there with her friends when one of them was upset because it would provide exactly what they needed. Maybe I should talk about the situation more after dinner? Ginny knew very well that Astoria would come, but she still went looking for her.

When Ginny found Astoria, it was just after the Slytherins had finished their quidditch practice, so Astoria was in the uniform. Ginny had to admit, Astoria looked hot in it. Her brunette hair was slightly messy due to the wind and flying around, her figure fit into the uniform effortlessly and the smile she wore with it added flare. If Ginny was a boy, she would've had serious problems downstairs.

Astoria waved to Blaise when she noticed Ginny and ran up to meet her.

"What are you doing here?" Astoria asked politely.

"I wanted to talk to you," Ginny started, "I told Luna She already knew I liked you, so she doesn't care."

"Oh, okay. Considering Pansy told all of Slytherin I think it's only fair."

And with that, Ginny ran off, Astoria went into the change room and they both knew they would have to tell everyone eventually. But of course, when Astoria walked in all the Slytherins were smirking at her.

"What!?" She exclaimed.

"Nothing," they all replied before turning back to what they were doing.

"You know," Blaise started, "you can always tell us if you and Ginny are together."

"My guess is that Pansy already covered the kiss," Astoria looked at Blaise.

"Yeah. She was so excited though. You should've seen her! She was practically flying around the room!"

"That would've been funny, but not out of the ordinary for Pansy. Still crushing on her?"

Now it was Astoria's turn to embarrass Blaise.

"Wh- no!"

"You sure? You talk about her an awful lot."

Blaise and Astoria joked with each other and teased one another while getting into their Slytherin robes. When they all left, the Slytherins went to the Great Hall, and as per usual, the Hall went a little quieter. Harry now knew who their seeker was seeing as it was the quidditch team that arrived and they had practice. He glared at Ginny because he knew the two were close. Ginny shrugged.

Dinner went by smoothly, and Hannah pulled Harry aside to talk, Ron, Hermione and Ginny smirking at it. But they didn't know Hannah's agenda. Harry wasn't much of a tease, but was definitely flirtatious when he thought someone liked him back. So, he too smirked a little until he saw the concern on Hannah's face.

"Hey, what is it?" He asked concern evident in his voice.

"I saw something," she whispered, "Ginny and Astoria."

Harry cocked his head, "I don't understand? They are friends I don't see -"

"Friends? Harry they kissed."

Harry's eyes widened, "Are you sure?"

"Yes I'm sure! They were joking about different people finding them and picking on them. Apparently Parkinson saw them. But Ginny asked to meet in the Astronomy Tower and Astoria kissed her!"

"Was it platonic? Like, on the cheek?"

"No! It was the lips!"

Silence embraced them tightly, before it was broken once more by Harry.

"We need to go to the Astronomy Tower."

The two went off in the direction of the Astronomy Tower. The corridors twisting and the stairs moving as though to stop them from finding Ginny and Astoria. Hannah eventually turned a corner with Harry in toe, and they found the steps to the Astronomy Tower. The ascent would take a while, and they were already exhausted from all the running they had been doing. Harry went first.

The stumbled up the seemingly endless staircase until they reached the door to the Astronomy Tower. Hannah slowly opened it and peeked inside.

"... people?" They heard Ginny say, "Because I don't know how my family and friends would react."

"I already know how my friends would react," they heard Astoria say, "Mental and constantly congratulatory. But my father? I don't even want to know."

"We never talked about it. The scars I mean."

Astoria sighed, "They weren't inflicted by my father like everyone's assumed. He has slapped me across the face a few times, and acts as though I'm some shit he stepped on, but the scars weren't his doing."

"I don't understand?"

Harry and Hannah were listening intently, waiting for a way to incriminate the brunette and save Ginny from making a huge mistake.

"It's, not something I've told anyone about. Not even the other Slytherins know. Daphne and father do of course, so do the teachers, Poppy and St. Mungos. But friends, no."

"Is it okay if you tell me?"

"Yeah, you deserve to know. I'm going to die, at age eighteen."

Ginny audibly gasped in shock and sorrow.

"I have a hereditary blood curse, got it from my mum. It's why I eat weird foods, it's why I had the scars, it's why I call Madam Pomfrey, Poppy. It's, why I never played quidditch until now..."

"Wait, you can't play quidditch!? Astoria, you need to -"

"I don't need to do anything! I've already wasted enough of my life waiting for death!" She sighed, "If it weren't for the potion on Halloween, I would've had more time. But, I'm done letting the stupid curse control my life. It was why I was a bit reluctant to get close to people."

"Astoria, I didn't know. I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault. If I had more time, maybe I wouldn't be taking the risks I am now, but after my father - after he beat me for the first time, the affect quickened and my state worsened. He's sick of me. But I don't want to spend the next two years of my life, regretting not taking these choices."

"What does it mean for us?"

"It means we have to cherish the time we spend together. But once I'm gone, I want you to live your life. Don't shut down like my father did, it's better that way."

Harry and Hannah all of a sudden felt very guilty. But Harry accidentally fell through the door and took Hannah down with him.

"Potter!? Abbott!?"
