Chapter 7
I'm going to die.
I lay on my bed wanting everything to end. I hadn't been able to eat anything in almost a week and, to make things even worse than I thought they could get, I felt like an asshole because I kept looking at my family like they were food.
My mom walked in and put her hands on her hips. "Are you going to come down and have breakfast? Are you even hungery?"
"No." I said. A lie
I turned away to hide my clenching fangs. That's another thing. Over the past few day I had slowly grown sharp fang-like teeth. Just one more addition to the hell events.
She frowned. "You know you have school today. Do you plan to lay in bed and skip out?"
"I don't feel good." I mumbled. Not a lie.
I smelled something sweet as she came closer and inched away, not wanting to smell it, for fear I might break. She came over and put a hand to my forehead. "You're not warm. Why don't you get dressed and try to go. If you feel really bad then you can tell the nurse and I'll come pick you up."
"I already feel really bad." I muttered.
She sighed. "Fine but, if I come home and see you doing something other than resting then I'll ground you."
I nodded, not really caring if I got grounded, and watched her walk out of the room. I layed back down and sighed. Then my eyes widened and I glanced at my door. My mother was walking in again, a bowl of chicken soup in her hands.
I made a face at the horrid smell and covered my nose. "Mom. I'm not hungry. Please do not bring that over here."
She ignored me and placed it on my bedside table. "I don't care if you're hungry or not. Soup is the best medicine and you will eat it. I bet you're sick because you haven't hardly eaten anything."
I held in my gag reflex and waited until she left the room. Then I picked up the soup, ran into the bathroom and dumped it down the toilet, flushing it away seconds later. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
This is getting ridiculous.
I headed back to my bed and layed on my stomach. "God, just kill me now..." I grumbled.
Toots walked in and I growled in frustration. Can't anyone in this house see that I don't want to talk to people? I turned away from him and fiddled with my action figures, trying to distract myself from my pulsing fangs.
He frowned. "Are you mad at me?"
"No. Why would I be mad at you?" I said, still looking anywhere but him.
He raised an eyebrow. "Okay? Mom told me to tell you that, if you have homework to do, then you should do that with the time you have now."
I rolled my eyes. "Does she even know what it feels like when you want to throw up?"
He giggled. "I don't think so."
I sighed. "Tell her okay and that I'll do it when she leaves and the house is quiet."
He nodded and left. I heard the front door shut and peeked out my window, watching Toots rush to get to the bus in time. Then there was a knock on my door. I threw my action figure at the door. "Leave me alone, will you?!"
My dad laughed. "Fine, fine. Just make sure to do that homework."
"Okay! Now, go away!"
I covered my ears with my pillow and narrowed my eyes at the floor. Then I there was another knock. I flew to the door and yanked it open. "What?!"
There was no one there.
Great. Now I'm going crazy.
I slammed my door and stormed back to my bed. Then I froze. Jasper was sitting on my window ledge. He tapped the window and gestured for my to open it.
I stared at him. Then I glared, my anger flaring. What was he doing here?! I walked over and opened the window. He swung his legs over and smiled. "Hey."
I felt like punching him. "What the hell are you doing here?! Someone could have seen you!" I hissed.
He gave me a look. "You think I'm that stupid?"
I rolled my eyes. "I don't have time for this." I went to push him back out the window. "Go-" I stopped mid sentence. "What... is that?" I asked as I inhaled the same smell as when my mother and brother where in the room.
He had pulled out a sliver package about the size of book. He shrugged. "It's for you." He said holding it out.
I swallowed. "Is that a blood bag?"
He nodded. "I got it from the hospital. Wasn't too hard to do. Docters are easy."
I stared at it. I could feel my fangs push out further as the smell attacked my senses. He held it out to me. "It's not going to kill you to drink it. Besides, it's not like you're hurting anyone this way."
My mouth was watering. "B-but..."
He grinned. "Here. Come with me."
He pulled me downstairs and into the kitchen, my eyes never leaving the blood bag. My parents had already left so the house was empty except for us.
He went through the cupboards until he found the cups and pulled it out. He ripped open the pouch of blood anf poured it into the cup. Then he pushed it towards me. "Drink."
Staring at the cup of blood, I felt myself break into a sweat. "I don't think..."
He sighed and rolled his eyes. "You are such a mule. Just drink it for goodness sake!"
I bit my lip but, picked up the cup. I took a deep breath.
It can't hurt anyone.
I put the cup to my lips and took a sip. My heart sped up at the taste. It was amazing. I quickly finished it and put the cup down. Jasper watched my face. "So?"
"Um... It was good. Thank you."
"So, does this mean you believe me? You'll stop acting like a moron and be a vampire?" He asked.
I frowned. "I never said that."
He looked annoyed. "But, you could."
Then I tilted my head. "Why do you even care?"
He paused. "I... don't want to see another vampire hurt. I've seen too many that are too human loving and it ends up getting them into of trouble. Or worse."
I frowned again, curious about what he meant. Then I took a deep breath. "Fine. Teach me what to do."
