(Vladimir's POV)

I was released from the metal cuffs and escorted through the halls of wherever we were. It was creepy and weird. It looked like we were in some medieval castle, minus the tiny windows to look through. The hallways were constructed of dirty old bricks and there were actual torches lit and hung on pegs from the walls.

Lunas lead me through the halls with two hooded guards flanking both my sides, preventing an escape. When we came to a larger door than before, one of the guards unlocked it and held it open for us as we entered. Instantly, I covered my mouth and nose with my hand. It smelled even more of blood in here, but with an overwhelmig wave of vomit and urine. I held back, unsure I wanted to see whatever was further inside.

Lunas smirked. "Apologies for the stench. Humans can be the most disgusting of creatures." He said.

Still resistant, I followed him into the room. My stomach lurched at the sight before me and I almost gagged. There were rows of cells, all lined up against each other on either side of the long room. Each held one to two people. Humans. They were practically in rags and covered in grease and dirt as they huddled in the corners of their cells. It was an instant reaction when we entered. Their eyes bugged out and they tucked themselves closer to each other, relying on each other's support.

Lunas watched my expression with great interest. "You like it? It's not the best outcome, but with complete control we can use our influence to make things a bit more... sanitary." He explained.

I barely heard him. My eyes were on a little boy and an older woman pressed against the wall in one of the closer cells. The lady was hugging the child to her chest protectively. Both looked fearful of us. Of me. I tried to swallow, but it felt like there was sand in my throat. "You... You treat them like animals..." I stepped back, but only made it as far as the two guards just behind me. "They're people. They're human beings-"

"That is exactly why they are where they are. They're humans. Filthy, inferior, heartless humans." Lunas snapped, angered. I flinched back and he sighed, calming. Then he smiled. "And yet..." He opened one of the cells and grabbed the arm of a young girl, dragging her out of the cell. "... a delectable snack."

She fought him, but he was stronger than her and he easily pulled her into his arms. He sank his fangs into her neck, a pained whimper slipping from her throat before she slumped into him. I stared in horror as he released her moments later only to then drop her like garbage. She fell to the floor unconscious, like dead weight. I fell to my knees at her side. "Did you kill her?!" I asked. I shook her shoulder. "Hey, wake up. Are you okay?"

Lunas nudged her with his foot. "She is quite the delicacy down here. One of the finest." He said. "Why don't you have some?"

"Are you crazy?" I snapped. I sat the girl up, tapping her face gently. She murmured something unintelligible and her eyelids parted. For moment she looked dazed. Then she saw me and her lip trembled. She shook her head, covering her neck as she began kicking, trying to move back despite the bars at her back. I tried to calm her down, but she scratched at my grip on her arm.

I let go immediately and she scrambled back into her cell, staring with fear as she sunk to the floor. I stood up slowly, my heart tearing at the sight of her. She looked like a toothpick, and her hair was matted, but most of all, she was terrified. Her cheeks were streaked with tear tracks. Her legs were shaking, pulled up to her chest to block herself off from us, to give herself some protection.

Lunas put a hand on my shoulder. "I know it's hard. You used to be just like them." He said. "But trust me, this is how it was meant to be." He paused, thinking for a moment. "Think of it like cows and chickens. They trap them to raise and then eat, we do the same to them. It's as simple as the food chain, Vladimir."

When I didn't respond, too numb to ever hear his words he nodded to the guards. "Let's get him to his room." He said.

In a haze of consciousness, I felt someone grab my arm and begin to walk me back the way we had come. I brought my eyes up to meet the chilled ones of the monsters around me. How could they treat people this way? Why? They were the heartless ones. Not the humans.

My face twisted with anger and I ripped my arm free. "You're insane and I'll never be a part of this!" I said, running back the other way.

Lunas sighed and waved to the guards. "Go get him." He said.

I ran to the doors on the other end of the hall. I had to get out of here. These vampires were crazy and dangerous. I pushed the doors open, they were heavier than I expected, and found myself with three options. Hearing the vampires just behind me, I took the closest hall. To my relief it wasn't a dead end. However, the room it lead to was almost more horrific then the one before.

There were vampires lying about with humans at their sides. Most were feeding, while others were cruelly making the humans wait on them hand and foot. They blinked at me in surprise when I entered and several stopped what they were doing to stare curiously.

I raced to the other side of the room, ignoring the vampires as I pushed through the doors into another corridor. How did I get out of here? It was like the hallways never ended. I wasn't going to stop though, I had to get out. I had to find Jasper.

Suddenly, I spotted a ladder. Weird to find that instead of stairs, but at the moment it looked like hope. A way out maybe. I took the chance and started climbing. I could still hear the guards right on my tail.

I had almost reached the top when someone grabbed my ankle. I slipped and held onto the bars desperately, kicking my legs to try and break free. In an attempt to get away, I reached up to grab the next railing; and found that it was wet. I didn't get to wonder why as my hand slid right off and I teetered backwards. I gasped, but I was too far gone and the floor came rushing up to meet me. The back of my head hit stone and I blacked out.
