Sonic was enjoying the beach with his friends. Just like every day. He was dozing peacefully in a deckchair not too far from the sea, but not too close either to avoid getting splashed. Tails was making a rather elaborate sandcastle. Amy and Sticks were playing beach volleyball and Knuckles was... lifting weights. Just as Sonic was about to fall asleep, he heard Amy's scream in the distance:

<<Sonic!!! Look over there!

He opened his eyes and shook his head to wake himself up. He then saw, far out in the sea, a robot that looked like it might be Gi-gan-tic. Our hero immediately got up from his deckchair while his friends ceased their activities.

<<Ah well, his robot is breaking records for height, it seems, commented Sonic, almost impressed.

- And distance,' added Tails. He seems to be really far away!

- And it's on water too,' mumbled the hedgehog, shivering because he hates water. Well, we've got to go for it!

Tails nodded, quickly fetched his 'laser ray gun 6.0' (yes, there had been five other versions before) from Sonic's hut (yes, Sonic's house is right next to the beach) and joined his blue friend at the water's edge. Unfortunately, Amy, Sticks and Knuckles couldn't join them, unable to run on water.

Sonic could, thanks to his speed, and Tails could, thanks to his two tails, which enabled him to run on water.

<<Let's go!>> shouted Sonic. And the two friends began to run into the water and further and further away from the shore as their friends cheered them on.

<<Sonic! I can't go any faster, but you can! Go before he does... I don't know what terrible thing!' shouted the fox.

With that, he continued his run, but in the air, probably to watch for any reaction from the giant robot.

Sonic, meanwhile, was concentrating on not falling into the water, so his best friend's shout surprised him:

<<Sonic, ahead of you!

Still surprised, he glanced at his team-mate and then looked ahead... where a large laser beam launched by the machine was a few metres ahead. He had no time to dodge it: the beam struck him full force. A sharp pain shot through every part of his body, and his whole body was electrically charged. He kept running to avoid sinking, but just as he was wondering whether he'd have time to reach the shore before he sank, a huge wave washed over him. He sank, was dazzled by a blue light and everything went black.

For the moment I'm only publishing the introduction and chapter 1 to see if it works. If it does, I'll continue with the English adaptation!
