Two
In the abandoned subway stations, Atlas and Samuel walked down a tunnel in silence.
Atlas glanced at him, "...so... how are you feeling?"
Samuel looked at him. Atlas frowned, "you just saw four ninja turtles and you fought them. I doubt Emiko would have told you that there were more."
"If she had known then she would have told me herself," Samuel said calmly, "but seeing as she did not... I'm sure we'll have no problem telling her."
Atlas raised an eyebrow before he looked away and the two continued walking. They walked over to a large door where two masked men were standing.
They immediately straightened their posture upon seeing Atlas and Samuel.
The doors opened and the two walked inside. Inside, people bustled around.
On one side of the room, there were kids sparring with each other. And on the other side there were older people carrying bags of mutagen canisters.
Pushing aside a curtain, Atlas and Samuel made their way into a dojo where a twenty-five year old woman sat in front of a large willow tree. She had porcelain skin and brownish-black hair that was tied in a bun.
She wore a dark blue robe.
Atlas and Samuel bowed.
"Mistress Emiko," Atlas spoke, "we've brought another mutagen canister."
Emiko was silent for a moment. "Good," she said, "I assume there weren't any... problems?"
"With the delivery, no, milady," Atlas replied respectfully, "everything went as expected."
"Good," Emiko said with a smile, "Atlas, take the mutagen to the scientists in the lower levels. Make sure they're doing their job for once."
"Yes, milady," he nodded before he glanced at Samuel and walked out of the dojo.
"Samuel," Emiko said.
"Milady," the ninja turtle replied calmly. She opened her eyes, revealing them to be a bright blue color. She looked over at him and smiled softly, "care to join me, dear?"
Samuel stared at her before he walked, albeit slowly, to the middle of the room. He sat down across from her.
"I can tell Atlas has left out some rather important details about your mission," she said, "but I don't let him know that because he's a good lieutenant. Now... why don't you tell me what happened?"
Samuel took a deep breath and silently exhaled. "We... we saw four ninja turtles. Atlas was being chased by them and he had gotten captured but they didn't do anything yet. I ambushed them and we fought," he explained.
A flicker of surprise appeared on Emiko's face and Samuel was silently relieved by that.
"Were you able to find out who they were?" She asked. "The turtle with the red mask is Raph and the turtle with the orange mask is Mikey. I was unable to get the names of the blue-masked turtle and the purple-masked turtle."
"Ah," Emiko sighed, "what a shame really... I have an assignment for you tomorrow at sunhigh."
Samuel blinked then tilted his head curiously, "milady?"
"I will tell you what it is but not now," she said, "in the meantime, go get some rest."
"...yes, milady," he said before he stood up. Emiko smiled and he walked out of the dojo.
Emiko listened to his footsteps fade away and she looked down as she put her hands in her lap. There was a sickeningly sweet giggle as a large silver and purple snake slithered out from the shadows of the willow tree. It had piercing red eyes and sharp fangs.
"What a shame," it said with a smirk, "and here I thought you were going to give me a little snack."
Emiko narrowed her eyes at him, "leave him be, Miyashiro. He is my student."
"And yet he is not even human," Miyashiro said, a hiss of amusement escaping his lips, "but then again... neither are you."
A brief flash of red enveloped him and Emiko resisted the urge to flinch as she stood up. The light faded, revealing a thirty year old man in the place of the snake. He had sienna brown skin, grayish-white hair and piercing red eyes.
He chuckled before he wrapped an arm around Emiko's waist and pulled her closer. She grunted softly and looked up at him.
Miyashiro chuckled softly and caressed her face. "Look at you... you stay so strong for this clan. For the people who have come to you for protection; all that you ask of them... is their undying loyalty."
"That is the nature of the Phantom Wolf Clan," she said calmly. He chuckled again as he trailed his fingers along her skin.
A shiver ran down her spine and she slowly tilted her head back. Miyashiro's grin widened and he leaned down, opening his maw, revealing rows and rows of sharp teeth.
Emiko stared at the ceiling as she felt his teeth dig into her skin.
Samuel walked down the hallway and down a set of stairs. Torches lit up the hallway as he made his way over to a cage-like door.
He walked up to it and crossed his arms. "I know you're awake," he said to a large creature that was laying in the back of the cage.
Its tail twitched before it lifted its head.
It was a wolf.
An awfully large one at that. It had black fur and crimson red eyes. It turned to Samuel, "what are you doing here?"
"What I've always come to do, Alex," Samuel replied, "to check on you and the others."
Alex huffed softly, "you pretend to care about us but your little mistress is planning on using us to fight. To hurt other people."
"That's not true and you know it," Samuel sighed. Alex snarled as he got to his paws.
"I know the truth and this is not it," he growled, baring his teeth, "just you wait, Samuel. There's bound to be nothing but chaos and bloodshed; it'll be the fault of this clan."
Samuel frowned before he sighed deeply. "I know that you are still hurting from losing your brother-"
"Don't."
Samuel closed his mouth as he stared at the wolf before him. He was shaking and tears were rolling down his face.
"I will leave you be," Samuel sighed before he looked over at the other cages. He could feel the stares of the other wolves and he knew he had to leave.
He walked out of the room.
Alex slumped over, burying his face into his paws as he silently cried.
