Zoey's POV

I swear, if I caught Steven I'd-

"Zo?" Naddie interrupted my thoughts. She'd come to talk to me and Lyssa and after we cheered her up, she...

Decided to do homework.

"Are you serious?!" I yelled, staring at her.

"No, I'm not! Look, I'll relieve of the sadness by doing homework."

"Sometimes I really worry about you, Nadia." Lyssa sighed. "I was gonna spend the afternoon with Nick down at the Black Lake."

"Girl you aren't going anywhere!" I said. "We share the punishment."

Naddie shook her head. "Go, Lyssa. It's okay."

My jaw dropped. "WHAT?!"

Lyssa shot Nadia a grateful smile and walked out of the room.

"You're lucky I love you, girl, cause otherwise I'd storm out of here!" I complained to Naddie.

A slight smile crossed her face. "Come on, Zo."

I groaned, but we started on homework.

After an excruciating ETERNITY of homework, we were finally done. I sighed in relief and threw my homework across the room.

"Zoey!" Naddie yelped. Apparently she didn't appreciate that. Oops?

"Let's go!" I managed to lift my sore butt and hobbled to the Black Lake.

When I didn't see Lyssa, I grew a bit worried.

"Naddie?" I asked slowly. "Where's Lyssa?"

Nadia looked around, her brown eyes doing a 360°.

"Guys!" Lyssa ran over to us.

"Where were you?!" I yelled at her.

"Searching for you guys!" She replied, panting.

"Guys... I'm really sorry, but I have some good news, and some bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"

I exchanged looks with Nadia and said, "Slap me first, pat me on the back last."

"Okay. The bad news is that Nick might be dead by the time I'm finished-"

"WHAT?!" Nadia shrieked.

She was about to bolt out of the room when Lyssa gripped her wrist.

"Hear me out!" She pleaded. "The good news... Well..." Lyssa smiled. "Nick won a scholarship to my old school for an year, and I have to go with him, guys! I can't stand the thought of being without him!!"

Nadia's eye twitched. "Nick didn't tell me this?!"

She sounded pissed.

"Ohh boy." I muttered. "Shit's about to go down."

Before Nadia could go and kill her brother, Lyssa said, "Naddie, it's okay! He just wanted me to tell you first."

Naddie sighed. "Fine, I won't kill him."

"But..." My idiot brain caught up. "That means we might not..."

"See each other ever again?" Lyssa smiled sadly. "I know. But Nick still has to see Nadia. So maybe I'll come too?"

"You better." I said, and hugged her fiercely.

Nadia joined in, already crying.

"It's okay, guys. Right?" Lyssa said, or rather, sobbed.

"Yeah." I whispered. "But we will see each other again."

"Promise?" Nadia held out her pinky.

Lyssa wrapped her's around it, and they both looked at me.

"Promise." I curled my own pinky around theirs. "Always best friends."

Lyssa was leaving in a week, so Professor McGonagall gave us some time off, and we spent the whole week together.

Just the three of us.

Just the New Trio.

"Guys, I want to say... Thank you." Lyssa said to us the afternoon of the day before she was to leave.

"What? Why?" Nadia asked.

I was too busy devouring my ice cream, but I looked at Lyssa.

"For... For being the awesomest friends ever!" Lyssa cheered and wrapped her arms around us.

"Yeah!" I yelled, managing to swallow my ice cream.

Naddie laughed at me, and so did Lyssa. I smiled apologetically, but laughed with them.

Then that day dawned.

The day our best friend would be leaving, forever.

The three of us woke up early and snuck out to our usual spot, the Great Hall.

For breakfast, of course.

Hey, don't judge me! I was hungry!!!!

Then everyone at school watched as we went to wish Lyssa and Nick a final goodbye.

Naddie started to wail, hugging her twin.

Nick tried to calm her down, but in the end, Steven had to gently pull Nadia away, much to the disappointment of Emily and the happiness of me.

A carriage with Pegasi was waiting for them.

It was sunset, the perfect background for a sad, sweet scene.

We hugged Lyssa hard, and promised to write to her.

Then, both her and Nick walked into the carriage, hand in hand.

As the carriage flew away, I thanked Lyssa silently for all that she'd done for us and all that we'd done together.

Me and Nadia cried together, hugging each other.

I wasn't sure who was supporting whom.

There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd.

Except maybe Emily.

But I really didn't freaking care about her right now.

Then Professor McGonagall ushered us all in for dinner.

As me and Naddie walked to dinner, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I turned to see a girl with dirty blonde hair, green eyes, and a friendly smile.

"Hey. I'm Anastasia. I'm new to Hogwarts. Can you show me around?"
