Unknown Feelings
The song above is Heart Attack by Demi Lovato.
As soon as we had our drinks we made our way to a section and sat down as the music played, I don't recognize the song but it still made me dance a little because at this time I was in a 'I am ready to get fucked up and dance the night away' type of mood. For once, since I woke up in that hospital unable to remember anything that had happened, I felt happy and comfortable with these girls, they were already my friends, and Fox was definitely my best friend already. We finish up our first drink and go grab another one, as Greedy by Tate McRae starts, we all look at each other and start to sing along, dancing, and drinking.
Keegan's POV:
I walk through the halls wondering where the girls were since it was pretty quiet and Ghost was pissed off almost like he cared about Angel already and he barely knew her. I look around still walking through the hallways, as I get to where the rooms are, all the girl's doors are open and empty. I walk into Angel's room and look around my eyes fall on her phone on the floor, I bend down and pick it up her screen flashing on for a moment to show her lock screen photo which is her and a guy both smiling. 'Maybe it's her boyfriend?' I think to myself as I shake my head and talk into my headset "Ghost, all the girl's rooms are empty and I found Angel's phone on her bedroom floor." I wait a few seconds before I hear static and Ghost's voice say, "Meet me in the security room now, bring her phone."
I head out of her room and towards security as I say back into my headset, "You got it!" I keep walking until I arrive at the security room, I walk inside and hand Angel's phone to Ghost. He takes it from me but doesn't speak as he hits her power button turning the screen on, he just stares at the photo like he knows the guy in the photo with her, he then proceeds to hack into her phone, unlocking it and starting to go through it. He opens her Snapchat and looks for the other girl's names on there to see if they were dumb enough to post what they were doing or not. I sit in silence and just watch him do his thing, he opens a video Fox posted to her SnapStory, and I lean in closer to watch it and see it is Angel dancing. I look at Ghost, "I don't recognize this club."
He doesn't take his eyes off the video as he says, "Yeah neither do I." "So do we go looking? or wait for them to return home?" I ask him. "We wait for them to come home," Ghost says, "We give them their fun time but if they don't show up by 8 am we go out looking because something could have happened at that point." I sigh kind of concerned for Angel and how she left the infirmary. "Okay, so what do we do in the meantime?" I ask him. "We keep an eye on Snapchat and see if it will tell us anything we need to know," Ghost says as he looks through Angel's phone some more.
Ghost's POV:
I felt surges of anger and concern mixed together and I didn't like it. I wanted to go find her but I knew she wasn't alone and those girls would never let anyone hurt her. I scroll through her phone, looking through her photos, trying to get a sense of who she was before she was attacked, she seemed like a happy person compared to how she is today. A Snapchat notification dings showing a new video shared to the story of Alexa. I click on her story and watch the video of them all singing drunk.
I looked at the time it was 7:58 pm, they had been gone since 3:00 pm from what the security cameras showed. I watch closely as Angel is in the center of them, she looks happy, at peace, and like she has no care in the world. That's also when I realized she didn't have her knee brace on at all. I try to call Fox's phone but it goes to voicemail, so I try Alexa's it rings until it goes to voicemail, I try the other two girls as well and get the same results. I toss her phone onto the desk, frustrated and worried.
These girls really weren't paying attention to their phones longer than to capture what they were up to. I shake my head and talk into my headset, "Price, Soap?" I looked up at Keegan who was staring at the security camera footage of the girls sneaking out in their tactical gear. I hear a static go over the headset, "Yeah?" Soap says into his headset, "I'm here!" Price chimes in. "Okay good, they left around 3 pm, I'm hoping they'll pile in by 1-2 am if we can keep the lights on outside for them."
I say into the headset. "You got it!" Soap says. "Absolutely!" Price says. I look at Keegan again who still hasn't lifted his gaze from the security cameras. "Yo! You good Keegan?" I ask looking at him, he pulls his gaze from the cameras finally, "Yeah I'm fine!" I nod my head at him. "They are fine," I say to him as I see a flash of concern go through his eyes. "Yeah, I know Ghost," he says looking at me seriously. "Mhm," I say back. We sit there all night waiting for them to arrive home.
1 am...
I had been watching the cameras for hours now, but they still hadn't called or shown back up. I tried the phones again but they were all dead now. Now I was slightly concerned, they hadn't piled through the doors drunk, and they had the only car without a tracker because it was Fox's rental since her normal one was totaled by Konig a few weeks before she arrived. We were getting it replaced but never got a mobile tracker for it since we didn't think they would just disappear. I take a stapler off the desk and throw it across the room as hard as I can. I was starting to get mad and my anger always got the best of me when I felt this way.
I decided it was best to take a walk, so I left Keegan alone in the security room so I could blow off steam. I headed for the training rooms, grabbed some gloves, and began to beat the shit out of the punching bag. Each blow that hit the punching bag was harder than the last. I spent about 4 hours before I headed back to the security room. Keegan was watching the cameras closely as he saw Fox's car pull in. We watched the girls get out, all but Angel. I took off towards the doors as they all stumbled through them.
"Where the fuck is Angel?!" I yelled, causing Keegan's eyes to widen. "She meet some guy at the club and went back to his headquarters, chill she's fine he isn't an ass like you are!" Alexa snaps at me, and my eyes narrow at her, "Watch your fucking tone with me, Alexa!" I snap back at her, my voice so deep and full of hatred. She backed up away from me, tears forming in her eyes, she was so drunk and I was just concerned about Angel wanting her back here. Hearing she was with a guy angered me and I didn't like feeling this way over a recruit I just met. Alexa started crying and stumbled off to her room, Fox looked at me all of a sudden and sobered up, "That was fucking harsh, she is now going to think you hate her from that tone you used on her, it's not her fault Angel met someone you need to fucking chill! You don't fucking own Angel." I tensed up and said, "Get out of my sight now! All of you!" I turn and head towards Angel's room, walk inside sit on the chair in the corner of her room, and wait for her to return home.
Angel's POV:
As the night went on and we danced, a guy approached us, I turned to watch him as he walked up to us we were already drunk at this point, "Do you want to dance?" He looks directly at me as he says this and I say, "Me?" He nods his head and I look at the girls, they giggle and nod their heads at me Fox mouthing, 'Go have fun!' I look back at him and say, "I'm Angel." "My name is Alex," he says smiling at me. He put his hand out for me to grab, I took it, and we walked to the dance floor and began to dance together. He was incredibly hot and just the distraction I needed from everything.
For once my knee felt no pain and it wasn't giving out. I lived in that moment. We danced for hours before we ended up leaving together. I went back to his task force headquarters, went to his room, and had sex together. I pretended to fall asleep awaiting him to fall asleep fully, when he finally did around 530am I carefully got up, got dressed, grabbed my stuff, and slipped out.
I sneak through the hallways of their headquarters so as to not wake anyone sleeping. I thankfully don't run into anyone as I hit the exit and get outside. I start to walk alone toward the nearest gun range. I was not entirely sure where it was because I was unfamiliar with this area, but I kept walking until I found one. Thankfully it was open, I walked inside, and up to the counter.
"I would like to purchase a gun and use it on the range," I say to the guy behind the counter. "Sure, but you need a different outfit for the outdoor range we have open right now, so I just need your size," He says looking at me. "Medium," I reply and watch him turn and reach into a box to grab an outfit. He hands it to me, I grab it and he says, "Changing rooms are on the right in the back woman's is the door to the left with a W on it." "Thank you," I say smiling.
I look at the guns and pick out a handgun, I purchase it and some ammo, I walk towards the changing rooms, enter the Women's one, change, put my stuff in a locker, close it, and take my new gun and ammo to the outdoor range to get some training alone in. I look around at the different courses wanting a real challenge, so I chose the one that requires you to run, slide, and shoot at moving targets through the wooded course. I hit the button on the pole right before you walk into the wooded area that activates the course targets. I load my gun, place my extra ammo in my tactical vest pocket, hold my gun up, and enter the course. I duck and dodge through the course aiming at the targets and hitting them.
I run up to a hill and have to slide down it to continue the course so I get a running start and then slide down the hill. I nearly flip but catch myself a branch smacking me in the face. "What the fuck man," I say still sliding down the hill approaching the bottom. I shake off the pain in my cheek, standing up as I hit the bottom of the hill, I start to run again as I spot some targets up ahead. I aim and hit them smiling to myself as I continue to run through the course.
2 hours later:
I get to the end of the course finally smiling and panting. It was so thrilling to go through an active course and I hadn't been through one since before the accident. My knee felt fine and if there was any pain I didn't feel it. I grab my stuff from the locker room, place it in the bag I was given, and then walk out of the changing rooms. "Do you know the way to Denver Road?" I ask the guy behind the counter. "It's about an hour away by foot, I can call you a cab if you would like?" The guy says.
I nod my head, "Yeah that would be great thank you, I lost my phone." "It's all good, did you have fun?" He asks me, I nod my head, "Yeah that was amazing!" I laugh a little, as he goes, "Looks like you cut your face up pretty good." "Yeah, some branches kicked my ass," I say laughing. He laughs and calls me a cab, "It will be here in about 5 minutes," he says as I nod at him and say, "Thank you! I might be back," I smile.
He waves to me as I exit the building and wait for the cab. It arrived 5 minutes later, I got in and gave the address of where I knew I wanted to be dropped off and it wasn't right at headquarters. It took us about 30 minutes to get to the road the headquarters was located on. I get out when the cab stops, pay him plus a tip, get out, and close the door. I watch the cab drive off before I head toward headquarters, a pounding headache starts, and I brush it off as I keep walking. About 5 minutes later I hit the headquarters driveway and knew the cameras activated showing I was home.
I walk inside not making eye contact with Keegan who was inside waiting, I faintly hear him say, "Angel what the hell happened to you?" I didn't stop walking, ignoring him because I was more focused on pushing the headache away. I walk to my room, open my door, looking at the ground, not noticing Ghost sitting in the chair in the corner of my room. I close the door behind me and turn around my eyes widening as he says, "It's 9 am, was he worth it?" His eyes fall on my face and the cuts on it, "What the fuck happened to your face?"
I detected some concern in his voice as he said this, stepping toward me, he pulled off my mask before I could protest, exposing my beat-up face from the active course. He touched his gloved hand to my bruised and cut-up face causing my breath to hitch in my throat. I nearly forgot how to breathe for a moment before I shook myself out of it, "I was on an active course, chill," I say turning away from him, not wanting him to stare anymore, I feel him behind me as he says, "Where is your knee brace and why aren't you wearing it?" "It doesn't hurt anymore," I say feeling a little numb, my head still pounding.
"Go clean up, go to the infirmary, I'll meet you there. No arguing," He says, "Now, that's an order." "Yes Sir," I say turning towards him and leaving my room, heading towards the showers, I head into the women's, get undressed, and get into the shower. I wash up, get out, and realize I forgot clean clothes because Ghost was incredibly distracting sometimes. I wrap my towel around myself exit the shower room, and head towards my room. I look down for a moment and run right into a solid form, "Shit sorry," I say looking up to Keegan who had grabbed onto my waist to prevent me from falling over.
"Why are you in just a towel Angel?" He asks, I look up at him and laugh, "I forgot my clothes, Ghost kind of blindsided me when I got back so I was distracted for a few and he gave me orders." Keegan was still holding onto my waist and said, "Yeah better listen to orders." I nod as he finally lets me go and I bolt for my room closing my door behind me. I leaned against my door wrapped in a towel, my heart beating fast, there was too much contact, and I needed a moment to breathe.
My head was still pounding as I gathered myself and pushed myself away from my door. I walked over to my closet and opened it, grabbing a regular outfit of black jeans and a camo t-shirt. I pulled on a pair of socks and when I looked up I saw myself in the mirror on the inside of my closet door. I looked like hell and that I had gotten into a fight with someone and not a bunch of branches. I brushed my hair and slipped on a pair of sneakers.
I exited my room and headed for the infirmary, passing by Price and Keegan who were in a heated conversation as I walked by I briefly heard Keegan say, "She was in just a towel! It drove me crazy!" My eyes widened knowing he was talking about me. I keep walking until I make it to the infirmary and walk inside.
