Chapter 13 The Rainbow Artists
Hannah's eyesight was once again filled with the bright flowing colors as she flew through the portal. No matter how many times she saw it the colors were always so mesmerizing to her. A little flicker from her shoulder caught her attention and she looked to see the small light ball that had come with her. Except this time it seemed like it grew a little as before it was as small as a pebble, but now it was as big as a rock. While the light was still small Hannah smiled, liking that it now was a bit bigger, but she was curious on how it got bigger.
That thought was cut short when Hannah spotted a familiar figure up a head. She turned her head to face the figure and could now properly see that it was Adrienne who was still recovering from the fight. Hannah clenched her fists as her desire to fight was filling her up. However remembering what happened last time she allowed her anger to fully control her she held it back. After all, she didn't want to injure herself again and end up in a similar situation like last time.
"ADRIENNE!" Hannah screamed furiously as she quickened up her pace.
Adrienne looked back and saw Hannah flying towards her but this time a bit slower than before but still pretty fast. As a result she quickened up her pace and she soon saw the portal. Adrienne created a small platform for herself, aimed right for the portal and thrusted herself off the surface. She flew through the magic tunnel and through the portal allowing her to cross to the next dimension. As soon as Hannah saw this she reacted quickly as her time was limited with the portal closing. Hannah opened her angel wings, she flapped her wings as big and as hard as she could. With the big flaps Hannah was able to push herself through the magic tunnel, before going through the portal. Her eyesight was field with nothing but white for some time, but as soon as her sight cleared she was met with a dark night and rain. Hannah's clothes instantly became soaked as it was raining cats and dogs. She looked up to the sky and saw that it was pitch black indicating that it was night time in this world.
"Okay now it's night, then again Iris did say different dimensions have different time zones... and that time passes differently in each one. I pray that doesn't mean I've been gone from my home for months now. So I need to hurry up, get the dimensional key back, drag Adrienne back with me so my friends and I can't decide what to do with her!" Hannah declared, her fists clenched so hard her knuckles popped.
However she needed to get out of the rain as the dampness in her clothes was becoming uncomfortable. She ran out of the alleyway she was in and onto the nearby streets; once on the said streets Hannah saw the sights and a setting she's only ever seen images of. The signs were all written in the Japanese language and there were several ramen restaurants and other Japanese food. After absorbing all of this information Hannah realized that the location in this dimension she was in was Japan.
"Wow, okay now I'm in Japan, that's cool! I've never been here before!... Wait a sec... HOW AM I GOING TO PAY FOR ANYTHING HERE!! UGH! I don't have any Japanese yen and I doubt there's a thing called an interdimensional ATM," Hannah winced as she collapsed to the ground.
She took out her phone, which was thankfully waterproof so it wasn't damaged by the rain. Unfortunately the screen protector did have a few cracks in it but other than that it was fine and still usable. Hannah turned her phone screen on and saw that she had no signal or even Wi-fi right now, much to her dismay. "And not even a phone signal so even if I'm in an area where there's a signal I can't get one for my phone as it's not even from here. Ugh, what am I going to do?" Hannah asked herself as she sat there helpless with no money or anything. Her stomach let out a growl as it begged for food, Hannah groaned as she grabbed her abdomen feeling a slight pain from lack of food. "Ugh I'm so hungry," Hannah wined, leaning back a bit.
"Hey you good miss?" Hannah heard someone ask. She looked and saw a girl with long black hair dyed purple at the ends with some covering up one of her eyes. The girl also wore a black and purple dress with no sleeves along with shoes and socks that had the same color scheme.
"Huh? O-Oh yeah, I-I'm just hungry and I can't pay for anything as I don't have any money," Hannah explained as she got up and stood about a foot taller than the girl.
"Huh... hey are you from the US by any chance?" The girl questioned.
"Um.. yeah I'm Hannah and you are?" Hannah asked.
"... I'm Aika, and you said you had no money, what happened?" Aika pondered.
"... I-I Uh,... I got mugged," Hannah lied, making up an explanation. "Well that sucks... hey why don't you come with me back to my place," Aika suggested.
"Huh? Why suggest that?" Hannah asked.
"Well there have been sightings of a pervert and I'd hate it if you got hurt by that creep," Aika explained.
"Hmm, um Okay t-thanks for offering, you're so kind," Hannah stated, expressing her gratitude.
"Alright let's go," Aika said as she helped Hannah up and led her down the street to her place. When the two got to Aika's house Aika saw her friends Sakura, Botan, Haru, Hinata, and Renho standing at the front door.
"Huh? Guys, what are you all doing here?" Aika asked curiously and confused.
"Oh hey Aika! I hope you don't mind us coming over to pay you a visit," Sakura said in her innocent bubbly voice.
"Um, not really but I would've liked it if you all texted and asked me first before coming over," Aika explained.
"Sorry about that, but um... who's your new friend here?" Renho asked once she spotted Hannah.
"Hm? Oh her, she's visiting Japan from the US but got mugged so I'm helping her out by giving her a place to stay fro the night," Aika explained clearing up any possible suspicions her friends could've had.
"Aww you poor thing! Come on! Lets go on inside and I'll bake you a cake or cokies! Wichever you want!" Sakura exclaimed as she grabbed Hannah's hand and brought her up to the door.
However Sakura forgot that the door was locked and smacked herself right into it. Everyone aside from Hinata (whose face remained emotionless) snickered at the funny sight; Sakura even snickered at herself for her silly act. After laughing a bit at Sakura Aika nudged her friend aside and unlocked the door to her house now allowing everyone to go inside. Once inside Sakura sprinted to the kitchen to bake some sweets for Hannah. Aika meanwhile asked Hannah to dry herself off before she caught a cold. She would've offered a change of clothes but due to their size difference she did not own anything that would fit. Hannah thanked Aika and left to dry herself off; later on, Hannah emerged from the bathroom now dry and feeling much better. She went back down stairs and smelled cooked fish, vegetables, rice, and a slight hint of chocolate. Looking into the kitchen she saw that Aika, and Haru were cooking the food, while Sakura and Botan were baking dessert. Hannah looked to the couch in the living room and saw Hinata sitting on the couch with his legs up, playing around with marbles on the coffee table. Sitting on the other side of the couch was Renho who was drawing a golden dragon in her notebook. Hannah walked up to the couch and sat in between Hinata and Renho.
"Hey Hinata, what are you playing with those marbles?" Hannah asked, curious about the strange game.
Hinata didn't answer, let alone looked up to her, he just continued messing around with the marbles. "He doesn't talk much, let alone show his emotions," Hannah heard Renho explain. She looked back and saw Renho looking up from her notebook with an amused look on her face. "Hinata might not seem like a very nice guy at first, but trust me, if he was a jerk none of us would be his friend," Renho joked while showing a slight smile.
"Hey everyone! Dinner is ready! So come to the table, my mom doesn't want any food on the couch!" Aika called out. The three got up to go eat as they were all hungry at that moment. They all went into the kitchen and sat down at the table, Aika and Haru set the food in front of everyone with the help of Sakura and Botan. After everyone had their plates of food they all began digging into the fish, rice, and steamed vegetables. Hannah meanwhile struggled to use the chopsticks she was provided with as it was her first time even holding them. Hinata looked and saw Hannah struggling to hold her food with the chopsticks. He just watched her struggle for a bit before getting up, digging around in a drawer, and pulling out a spoon. He then walked up to Hannah and handed the spoon to her. "Here, use this instead, and I suggest you practice with chopsticks," Hinata suggested as he sat back down.
"Oh, thanks for the spoon and the advice," Hannah thanked grateful towards Hinata.
He just nodded and went back to eating, not saying much else to her; however, Hannah started to believe that Hinata was indeed nicer than he seemed at first. Everyone soon finished eating their food and now Hannah was putting the dishes in the skink with Aika. "Hey thanks for the food, it was really good," Hannah thanked with a small smile.
"Anytime, I-I just thought you could use the help and a warm meal... I don't know why I'm telling you this but I kinda know how it feels to be helpless, I've been like that for the longest time. My father was abusive and I got bullied a lot, and to top it all off, I had no friends. That was until I started hanging out with Haru, Sakura, and Botan. The three of them sorta became my first real friends, then Renho and Hinata joined in later on. So now I have real friends after being so alone for such a long time and it feels pretty good," Aika explained as she recalled how her life had been up until now.
Hannah looked at Aika with a slight frown after hearing how her life had been up till now, but happy that she had real friends now. She then saw a faint glow out of the corner of her eye. She looked and saw the little light poking out of her hoodie from the shoulder. It flared a little as if it wanted to say something; however, Hannah couldn't put her finger on what it was trying to tell her. A loud crashing sound had instantly come outside making everyone turn towards the door. Hannah, having a feeling of who was causing it ran towards the door practically bursting through it. As soon as she was outside Hannah saw Adrienne standing out in the rain with her arms crossed and a shatter pot at her feet. "Ah so it seems fate has brought you here Red, then again what did I expect, you're either the most lucky or unlucky girl in the multiverse to end up in these situations," Adrienne mocked condescendingly.
"Ragh! Adrienne! I'm gonna make you pay for what you did to Paris!!" Hannah declared.
"Wow! What's going on here?!" Botan demanded as he ran outside. Hannah looked back and saw Botan and all his friends were standing out on the porch.
"Aww did you already make friends with them? How sweet, makes me wanna hurl!" Adrienne furiously stated, disgusted by the scene in front of her.
"Hey! That's not very nice! Who do you even think you are?!" Sakura questioned, offended by the comment.
Adrienne didn't answer, she just rolled her eyes before snapping her fingers. Four black pools formed on the ground at her sides, hands emerged from the pools and figures soon began pushing themselves out. Soon the figures fully pulled themselves out and they all took humanoid forms, each of them having very bulky bodies. "Slayers! Get me what I came for!" Adrienne commanded.
The new creatures, which are apparently called Slayers, transformed their arms into different weapons. One turned both their arms into blades. Another one turned their right hand into a spiked wrecking ball. A third one transformed its left hand into a spiked hammer. The final one sifted both of its arms into sharp scythe blades. They all charged right at Hannah and The Anime Artists; in a panic Hannah cried out, "Rainbow Power Action," transforming into the Red Squad.
The Anime Artists all stood in place, shocked by what they saw, Hinata felt the same even though his face didn't show it. Hannah summoned her sword, charging at the Slayers with full force, she clashed her weapon against all of theirs. The Slayers with the spiked hammer and wrecking ball pulled away from Hannah's sword. The two swiftly appeared behind her and tried to smash their weapons onto her body. Thankfully for Hannah she felt their presence behind her and she ducked down. The hammer and wrecking ball smashed into each other, reacting quickly Hannah sweeped her leg under all four of the Slayers. Unfortunately the Slayers had been prepared for this as Adrienne has learned a lot from previous failures. Simultaneously the Slayers all grabbed onto each other, one millisecond the Slayers had all merged together. Now they had four arms and were twice Hannah's own size; Hannah froze and stared up at the Slayer standing over her. The Slayer grabbed onto Hannah bringing her up to its face. Hannah swung her fists around violently, desperately trying to get it to let her go, but its hold on her was just too strong.
The Slayer transformed its arm into a sharp blade, it was about to stab her when suddenly something smashed into the side of its head. It looked and saw the Anime Artists had composed themselves, now they are getting into the fight. Aika opened a drawing notebook and pointed to a page with a drawing at the Slayer. Suddenly the drawing emerged from the paper, it flew right at the Slayer with full force. The drawing was some ghost like creature with a shredded black and gray cloak draped over it. It tackled the Slayer so hard it let Hannah go, and it separated into the four Slayers it was before. As soon as Adrienne saw this a sinister grin appeared on her face; she had found what she was looking for here.
The Anime Artists all ran out to help Hannah fight against the Slayer. Sakura opened her notebook and a big yellow gorilla jumped out of her notebook, it smashed the Slayer with the spiked balls. Botan opened his notebook, he pulled out a flash gun, aimed it at the Slayer with the spiked hammer, and fired. A blast of light busted out of the gun smashing the Slayer square in the face, making it screech in pain from the light. The Slayer with the blade arms charged at Hinata and Haru with full force intending to do them serious harm. Instantly Haru opened his notebook and pulled out two swords from its pages. Hinata took the swords as he knew how to use them the best. The Slayer slashed its swords at Hinata again; however, Hinata ducked down as the blades went for him. In a split second Hinata shoved the two swords he had into its chest, causing it to shriek before it exploded into smoke.
Renho meanwhile stayed with Hannah the whole time helping her out as she had some minor injuries from the attack. The last remaining Slayer glared daggers at the two girls, with its scythe arms raised. Everyone else in the Anime Artists all gathered up behind the two girls all armed with their notebooks ready to end the last remaining Slayer. Unfortunately that fight didn't come as Adrienne teleported right next to the Slayer, her face coated in pride. "Hehe, finding the notebooks was just as easy as I thought it would be," Adrienne stated while still smirking.
Before anyone could react, Adrienne instantly snatched Aika's notebook from her hands with magic. She jumped up into the air, her scorpion creature crawled out from her hair, stabbed the notebook, and began to suck the magic out of it. Once it had all the magic it wanted Adrienne just dropped the notebook on the ground below. She snapped her fingers and the Slayer evaporated into nothing, she pulled out her dimensional key from her bag. Adrienne opened a portal before flying right through it, hoping she'd be quick enough to leave Hannah behind. Upon seeing this Hannah knew that she had to act fast or else she could be trapped in this world forever.
"Thanks for the help guys! I hope our paths cross again in the future!" Hannah thanked as she ran to the portal with all her might. She summoned her wings, flying right up to the portal before it closed; as she went through Hannah looked back and saw the Anime Artists giving her big smiles and waving goodbye. Once Hannah was through the portal the Anime Artists all looked at each other still in shock by the current events.
"Huh if it wasn't for our notebooks and what they can do I don't think I would've believed that this was even real," Renho commented.
"Yeah we just met a girl who's apparently from another world and has magic," Botan added.
"Our lives have gotten very strange, haven't they?" Aika asked. Her friends all nodded in agreement, they all once again looked up at where the portal was and hoped that Hannah would be okay.
