The next day at school Iris was sitting in their algebra class but she couldn't focus as she felt there were eyes on her. As her friends were all staring at her from their desks. She decided to write a note and pass it to them telling them where to meet her. Once she was done she handed it to Hannah and she read, "Meet me and Apollo in the courtyard at lunch. PS pass this to the others."

After Hannah read it she passed it onto her friends and they all read it. Once everyone read the note they agreed to meet Iris in the courtyard for lunch.

Later on at lunch in the school's courtyard, the Squads were sitting at a picnic table with their lunches, thankfully there weren't many other students around. The ones who were sitting there were at a different table on the other side of the courtyard. They waited for Iris to arrive as she hadn't shown up yet. After a few minutes Iris showed up with a basket in her hands.

"Hey Iris, you brought your own packed lunch?" Josh asked.

"Yeah some fruits from my world, here check this out," Iris said and pulled out a yellow fruit that had a smiley face on it.

"What's that?" Ed asked.

"I'd rather let you guys taste it first and see for yourself," Iris said then placed a finger on top of the fruit and with magic sliced it into nine equal pieces. She then handed them out to all her friends and began to eat her slice.

"Um, I'm a bit skeptical about this Iris. We don't even know you, so I don't know if I want to eat this fruit," Erick said.

"I'll try it and see what it tastes like," Josh said before taking a bite out for his slice of fruit.

Once the bite was in his mouth his face went into pure shock as he felt like his brain had just blown up.

"Bro, what is it? Is the fruit bad?!" Lila asked worryingly.

"No, it tastes just like CHOCOLATE!" Josh exclaimed before shoving the rest of the fruit into his mouth.

The others were shocked and they all took bites out of their fruits and each of them got a different flavor.

"What the, it tastes like my dad's agony wings. Which are insanely spicy so don't eat them unless you have a high spice tolerance!" Erick exclaimed.

"Um to me it tastes like fried chicken and this is fruit," Jake added.

"For me it's strawberry ice cream," Jenny included.

"Iris what's going on? What's with this fruit?" Hannah asked.

"Oh well it's a happy fruit. Picture this: you're sad and down and want to have your favorite kind of food but it's unhealthy and expensive. That's where this fruit comes in. It's easy to grow and it'll taste like whatever food you're craving but it'll be very healthy," Iris explained.

"So this fruit will taste like any food we crave? Awesome!" Josh exclaimed happily.

"Hey I'm just going to address the elephant in the room. Iris what's going on here, who are those shadow dudes and what do they want?" Jane asked.

Iris sighed and began to tell them what was happening and who the shadows were.

"They are people I used to care about. Samuel's real name is Smith and he's my uncle, Melaine's real name is Mary and she's my best friend, and Shade's real name is Light and he was my fiance," Iris explained sadly, almost crying when she mentioned Light as she loved him so much.

The Squads all remained silent as the shock came over them.

Iris continued on with her explanation saying, "My old home is known as the kingdom of Positivity. In my kingdom we were all happy and we took care of one of the most powerful and sacred treasures of all... The Rainbow Crystal Heart. It was the source of all colors and positive emotions in the whole multiverse and if it was ever destroyed all colors and positive emotions will disappear forever. I was next in line for the throne as I was the first born and the most powerful since I was born with the rare rainbow hair and even more rare Rainbow eyes."

"Wait Iris, what the heck does your hair and eye color have to do with that?" Erick asked, confused.

"Well anyone who's born with Rainbow hair has incredible powers and it's very rare, but Rainbow eyes are twice as rare and anyone who has them are twice as powerful. I was born with both, so it means that I'm insanely powerful," Iris explained.

"Oh, ok that makes more sense now, so um continue on with the story," Erick said.

"Ok so everything in my kingdom was great and we were all happy, when out of nowhere Lucifer the king of negativity attacked us with his shadow monsters. He claimed that he was tired of our happiness and positivity so he was going to take it all away. I remember that day as if it happened yesterday as I lost my home, my family, and my friends." Iris said sadly as she remembered that very horrible day.

Iris's mind flashbacked two years ago where she was training with Apollo at the back of the castle courtyard. She was working on mastering a difficult magic spell.

"Come on Iris I know you can do it!" Light cheered.

"Thanks Light," Iris thanked her future husband and attempted the spell but it blew up in her face.

"Agh not again," Iris moaned sadly.

"Iris, it's alright. This spell is difficult and you're only twelve so we should stick to spells that are at your level," Apollo said, trying to help Iris feel better.

Before she could respond an explosion was heard all the way from the otherside of the kingdom. Iris, Light, and Apollo all ran to the front of the castle and were horrified to see a gigantic monster that had a broken heart in the middle of his chest, a crown with a black heart on it stomping around the kingdom.

They all knew who it was; it was Lucifer the king of Negativity in his beast shadow form. He was also using his magic to transform the citizens into shadow creatures. He then looked to the castle and saw Iris, when he did he smiled evilly.

"Iris, it's a pleasure to finally meet you now. You will become the first part of my evil plan to destroy all this stupid positivity," Lucifer said before pointing a finger at Iris and shooting a black magic beam at her heart.

However before the beam could hit her Light pushed her out of the way and took the hit. All of his positive emotions and memories were taken from him and his hair turned from snow white to midnight black and his eyes turned red.

"Light?! Are you OK?!" Iris asked worriedly.

"Light? LIGHT! I'm Shade! And I will bring you to my master Lucifer!" Shade declared and Iris felt her heart shatter by what she saw her future fiance had become.

Just then one of the guards knocked Shade out from behind and picked Iris up. "Your highness we need to get you to safety. Lucifer is over powering us but your mother has a plan on how to temporarily stop him. She requested for you to be brought to the portal room," the guard said before picking Iris up and took her to her mother.

Within the portal room Iris's mother was standing in front of the portal that went to earth waiting for her daughter. Just then the guard brought Iris into the portal room and when she saw her daughter she was so relieved that she was safe.

"Mom? What's going on and where's dad?" Iris asked, worried about her father.

"I don't know sweetie but we need to get the Rainbow Crystal heart to Safety till this all blows over," Iris's mom explained while pulling out the Rainbow Crystal heart from her bag.

"I don't think you'll be doing that anytime soon," a female voice said.

When Iris and her mother looked behind them they saw Adrienne who had already turned the guard into a shadow monster.

"My king wants that Crystal and your Daughter, so why not make all of this much easier and hand it over?" Adrienne demanded.

"No I won't. The heart is important as well as my daughter," Iris's mother insisted angrily.

"Hmm, ok then, why not a trade then?" Adrienne asked before snapping her fingers.

Just then a Shadow monster in the shape of a squid came into the room holding two people. Both Iris and her mother were horrified by who they saw as it was Iris' Uncle and her best friend.

"I've already heard about what happened to Light, such a shame really, but I think that it'll be more painful if more people you love became my master's minions. So here's the trade, both Iris and the Heart or your precious brother and this girl will become a part of Lucifer's growing army," Adrienne demanded threateningly.

"Sister dont! The heart is more important than us!" Smith exclaimed, worried for his niece.

"Yeah, so please don't give Iris up because of us!" Mary exclaimed just as worried for her best friend.

Iris looked up to her mother with worry as she didnt know what she was going to do. Apollo was just as worried as he knew that losing Light to the darkness hurt Iris enough but her Uncle and best friend would make it twice as painful.

Then Iris's mother did something that surprised them all, she raised the Rainbow Crystal Heart in the air and smashed it to the ground. The force broke it into eight individual pieces of each of its rainbow colors. Each of the pieces glowed, floated up then flew into different portals that led to different parts of earth.

"NO! You idiotic lady! All you had to do was give me the heart and your daughter!" Adrienne exclaimed furiously.

"Well you're not getting either of them!" Iris' mother exclaimed before lifting her hands up and throwing many speers at each portal and shattering them leaving only one unbroken.

"Ugh! If I dont have the heart I'll just take your daughter and turn you into another one of our shadows," Adrienne said before running up to Iris.

Thinking fast Iris's mother grabbed Apollo, her daughter and put a bag in her hands.

"It's all up to you to now my sweet Iris. You need to find the Rainbow Squads and the Rainbow Crystal heart shards so you can save our kingdom and defeat Lucifer," Iris' mother said before throwing her into the last remaining portal and shattering it.

"MOM WAIT NO! MOM! MOM! MOM!" Iris screamed as she sank down into the portal abyss and went to earth.

By the end of the flashback Iris felt tears of despair as she remembered those horrible events that happened to her. She lost her home, her family, her friend, and worse, her fiance. She felt someone putting their hand on her shoulder and when she looked she saw that it was Jane. Jane then hugged Iris and she hugged her back then the rest of the group got up and they all hugged Iris.

"Oh Iris, I'm so sorry that happened to you. No one should've gone through what you went through," Hannah said.

"It's ok it's not your fault," Iris reassured.

"But Iris what happened to your mother?" Jenny asked.

"I don't know, I didn't see what happened after she threw me into the portal. All I know is I have to find the Rainbow Crystal Heart shards and put them back together, but I don't even know where they are, " Iris said sadly.

"Well don't worry, we'll help you find those shards and save your home," Lila reassured.

"Yeah no bastards are going to take your home and family and think they can get away with it," Eirck said with confidence.

"Thank you guys, but I don't know where they could be," Iris said.

"Well is there anything that could give us a clue on where the shards could be?" Ed asked.

Just then Apollo jumped off Iris's dress and stood on the table. "I have some info that could help us find the shards. Each of the shares would be in a different environment based on their colors and what emotion they represent," Apollo explained.

"Hmm, ok so which one do you think we should try to find first?" Ed asked Apollo.

"Well I believe that the green shard will be the easiest to find. It'll be in an area that is peaceful and full of nature," Apollo explained.

"Huh sounds like my and Josh's aunt Lollie's cherry farm. In fact we're going there this spring break," Lila said.

"Well it might not be there but it wouldn't hurt to try looking there as we need to search as much as possible," Apollo added.

"Yeah and just wait Apollo, you and Iris are going to love aunt Lollie's cherry pie. It's amazing," Josh said.

"Josh please focus, it's not about the pie it's about helping Iris ok?" Jane stated.

"Ok fine I'll help, it's just been a while since I last had her cherry pie," Josh said while crossing his arms.

"Ok then it's settled on spring break. We'll all go down to the twins' aunt's cherry farm and look for the shard," Hannah said.

The rest of the group nodded their heads and they all put their hands in, including Iris and Apollo (well his wing) and said in unison, "Shining Bright in the Darkest Night! Here comes the Rainbow Squads!"
