Chapter 14 The Loyalty
The following morning, Jenny woke up to one of her older brothers shaking her awake. When she opened her eyes she saw her brother Jacob standing next to her bed and her older sister Lucy brushing her hair.
"Ugh I'm up Jacob," Jenny groaned, tired while rubbing her eyes.
"Come on little sis you and your friends have that vote thing for the student council," Jacob explained.
"I know... I'm getting up," Jenny said while yawning, then got out of her bed.
She then got into her dresser and grabbed some clothes before heading to the bathroom. When she opened her room door she was greeted with her other ten siblings.
"Oh hey Jenny!" one of her older brothers said.
"Jenny! Lala is using my hairbrush!" Lily complained.
"Lily is using my hairbrush!" Lala complained.
"Hey, look at that!" Jenny said while pointing behind her little sisters.
The two younger twins looked where their older sister was pointing and Jenny swapped their hair brushes.
"There we go, all better," Jenny said as her two sisters hugged each other.
"Thanks big sis," the two said before walking off.
Thankfully she wasn't bothered by any of her other siblings and she managed to get into the bathroom to change. Once she was done she grabbed a hair brush, a hair tie, and her amulet then left the bathroom to go find her mother.
"Hey! Mom, are you still here?" Jenny called out.
"I'm down stairs sweetie," Jenny heard her mother calling.
She rushed down stairs past her other siblings who were running up and down the stairs. When she got to the bottom she saw her mom on the couch finishing up one of her younger sisters' hair.
"Hey Jenny, how was your night?" her mom asked as she finished her younger daughter's hair.
"I slept like a rock last night," Jenny joked.
"Hehe, I'm sure you did, dear," her mom said as Jenny sat down and gave her mom the hair brush and ties.
Her mom then started brushing her hair out and putting it in a bun.
"Mommy, Mommy! Look!" One of Jenny's younger sisters screamed while pointing to the TV.
Both Jenny and her mom looked at the TV and saw that it was showing the news of the Rainbow squads. Jenny also saw that it was her saving a cat that got stuck in a tree the other day.
"Wow, Dark Blue is amazing! I wish I could meet her in real life!" the six year old said joyfully while her eyes were sparkling.
When Jenny heard that she felt guilty that she couldn't tell her family about her being a member of the Rainbow Squads. While she knew it was for their safety, she still felt bad about keeping this for them. She just sat back and let her mom finish putting her hair in a bun before putting the hair pin in her bun.
"Thanks Mom," Jenny thanked before heading off to the kitchen.
When she arrived she saw her father serving some of her other siblings their breakfast.
"Hey dad!" Jenny called out getting her father's attention.
"Oh Hey Jenns, what would you like to have for breakfast?" Her father asked.
"I like to have a buttery bun with some fruit," Jenny said as she sat down at the table.
"Alright. I've already got some freshly baked buns out as we speak so I'll get those and make you a delicious fruit salad," her father said as he went back into the kitchen.
"Hey Jenns, can you hand me the salt please," her brother Nico requested.
"Oh sure!" Jenny said as she reached over, grabbed the salt and handed it to her brother.
"Hey little sis, did you hear that the Rainbow squads are going to be interviewed by my school's journal club?" one of Jenny's older sisters Lois asked.
"Oh no I didn't hear that," Jenny said.
"Well it's going to be quite exciting. I hope we can get to know them more, Oh and even find out their secret identities," Jenny's older brother Jon said.
When Jenny heard that she felt her stomach turn as she wanted to tell them that she was a member of the Squads, but that voice in the back of her head kept on telling her to not do it. Soon her father came in with her breakfast and she ate up, before getting her school stuff and heading out to school.
As she ran to school she kept on thinking about what her family had said about the Rainbow Squads. While she knew that rule number one of the Rainbow Squads was to never reveal your identity to anyone. She still felt guilty about not telling her family; this was because she had such a large family who almost never kept any secrets from each other.
She and her siblings would also have Secret Nights where they would tell each other things that they wouldn't want their parents to know. However when it came to Jenny she always told her family everything; this was because she was the kind of person who hated lying.
"Oh I wish I could tell my family that I'm a member of the Rainbow Squads, oh but like Iris said I can't," Jenny sighed to herself inaudibly as she put her hands in her pink shorts pockets and kicked pebbles on the sidewalk.
After a few minutes she arrived at school and went into the building to put her stuff in her locker then talk to her friends before class started. After Jenny was done at her locker she felt someone tapping her on the shoulder and looked to see Iris standing next to her with a big smile on her face.
"Hey Jenny! How was your night?" Iris asked happily.
"It was great Iris, my siblings and I had Secret Night again," Jenny explained.
"Ohh, what's that?" Iris asked.
"Well it's this little meeting that me and my siblings have whenever we want to tell each other secrets that we don't want our parents to know. Although I always end up telling my parents my secrets," Jenny explained.
"Wow... I wish that I could've had something like that, but unfortunately I'm an only child," Iris said a bit sadly.
"Oh well hey at least you have your friends," Jenny said.
"Yeah, but it's not the same," Iris explained.
"Well look on the bright side, you're able to have a lot more privacy than I have," Jenny explained.
Iris smiled at Jenny's attempt to make her feel better, but she noticed something wrong with her aura.
"Hey Jenny, are you okay?" Iris asked.
"Yeah I'm fine, why?" Jenny asked.
"Well it's just that your aura is kinda weak. Are you sure you're alright?" Iris asked.
"... Yes I'm sure," Jenny said before heading off to the first period.
Iris however knew that something was wrong with Jenny, so she decided to talk to her more after school.
Later on after school ended for the day, Jenny was heading home from school when Iris ran up to her.
"Hey, Jenny, wait!" Iris called out.
Jenny turned around and was almost tackled to the ground by Iris when she hugged her.
"Oh hey Iris what's up?" Jenny asked.
"Well I know that there's something wrong, so I want to talk to you about it in a more private environment," Iris said.
"Oh really... well I would love to but I gotta get home. My parents are going to the family restaurant as the health inspector is coming and my older siblings are all busy with school clubs and other after school activities. So I'm in charge of taking care of my younger siblings," Jenny explained.
"Oh well let me help you then!" Iris suggested.
"Are you sure? My younger siblings can be quite the handful," Jenny said.
"Yes I'm sure! I love helping my friends out! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and as my duty as a princess it's my responsibility to help those in need!" Iris explained.
"Well it's hard to argue with that, so why not?" Jenny said.
Iris smiled and the two girls went to Jenny's place to take care of her younger siblings. When they got there Jenny's dad was standing at the doorway waiting for his daughter to get home. When he noticed Jenny and Iris he smiled and greeted them with a warm smile and open arms.
"Ah there's my sweet girl, oh and look you brought your friend over now. Who is this?" Jenny's dad asked.
"This is my friend Iris from my school, Dad. She came over to help me babysit my younger siblings while you and mom were at the restaurant," Jenny explained.
"Really? Well thank you Iris for the help, I appreciate someone like that." Jenny's dad said gratefully.
"Anytime sir! Oh and I can't wait to meet Jenny's younger siblings!" Iris exclaimed excitedly.
"That's good to hear! Oh and there's some delicious sticky buns on the table if you girls are feeling peckish," Jenny's dad said.
"I'd like to have some!" Iris exclaimed before running inside the house.
"Hey Iris wait don't eat all of them I want some too!" Jenny called out before running into the house.
"Don't worry Jenny, I want to share them with you, you're my friend after all," Iris explained before handing a bun to her.
"Phew, thanks Iris," Jenny said before taking the sweet sticky bun and started to eat it.
Soon after Jenny's parents left her six younger siblings came home. "Hey Big sis where are you?" one of her younger brothers called out.
"Hey Thomis, I'm in the kitchen with my friend Iris!" Jenny called out.
The six kids then came into the kitchen and Iris smiled and waved at them. "Hey guys, this is my friend from school Iris, Iris meet my younger siblings. This is Thomis, Lily, Lala, Katte, Lucas, and Mat," Jenny said, introducing everyone cheerfully.
"Hi, it's nice to meet all of you!" Iris exclaimed happily.
"It's nice to meet you as well Miss Iris!" Jenny's younger siblings all said together.
Iris smiled brightly at them as they were very nice so far.
"Okay now you all need to remember, while Mom and Dad are gone I'm in charge till our other older siblings get back, and because I have my friend over I want you all to be on your best behavior alright?" Jenny asked in a demanding tone.
"Yes sis we will behave!" the kids exclaimed.
"Alright good, now I want you all to do your homework, and after that your chores. Once you're all done with the work we can go to the park for ice cream and fun!" Jenny exclaimed.
Her younger siblings nodded and ran off to the kitchen table to do their homework.
"Wow Jenny, your family is so cute!" Iris exclaimed happily.
"Thanks Iris... and it's why I don't like having to lie to them," Jenny said sadly.
"What!?" Iris said, surprised and confused.
"Well my family trusts me and I trust them, so when I lie to them I feel like I'm betraying their trust," Jenny confided.
"Oh, is that what you think you're doing?" Iris asked.
"... Yeah it is and I want to tell them, but if I do that I feel like I'll betray my friends, but I also feel like I'm betraying my family. Ugh and I hate choosing between my friends and family," Jenny explained further.
Iris frowned when she heard Jenny say that, as it made keeping the Rainbow Squads a secret from her family a bad thing.
"Hey Jenny, can you help me with this question?" Mat asked.
"Oh sure, Mat I'll help you out," Jenny said then ran to her younger brother to help him.
"Oh Jenny, you don't need to feel that way. Lies can be good depending on your motivation with them," Iris said to herself but Jenny couldn't hear as she was out of earshot of her voice.
Currently in the shadow realm, Adrennie was working on something that would last longer than the spears she had been using for the past two years. "Ugh, those positive emotions are getting stronger by the day, and those three are getting more and more used to the negativity I put in their hearts. I need to come up with something much stronger if I want to succeed in destroying the Rainbow Crystal Heart and corrupting Princess Iris," Adrennie muttered to herself angrily.
She then got up and went to Samuel who just got another douse of the dark spears.
"How do you feel Samuel?" Adrennie asked.
"I feel fine, Miss Adrennie," Samuel said flatly.
"Good. Now I want you to go to earth and destroy the Dark Blue Squad. Her powers are weak so she should be easy enough to destroy, and if you fail at it, there will be consequences," Adrennie declared threateningly.
Samuel looked back at Adrienne and saw her eyes glowing red and a black aura coming off of her which meant that she was serious.
"Y-Yes madam I won't fail you," Samuel said nervously.
"Good. Now go!" Adrienne commanded. Samuel nodded and headed out to earth to destroy the Dark Blue Squad.
"Hmm... Rainbow Squads you all have been lucky so far, but you won't be forever. Soon your world along with the rest of the multiverse will fall under the rule of king Lucifer," Adrienne said evilly.
Meanwhile back on earth, Jenny, her siblings, and Iris were at the park having fun and getting some ice cream. "Wow Jenny you're a really good sister," Iris said.
"Thanks Iris... hey can you keep an eye on them? I'm gonna go get a drink," Jenny said before heading off to a nearby water fountain.
Iris frowned again as Jenny's aura was getting worse and worse; this also meant that her powers were getting weaker and weaker. She didn't know what to do or what she could say to Jenny to let her know that lying to her family is good because of her reason for it. Just then a soft ball slammed right into Iris's face, which made her stumble and fall to the ground.
"Oh Iris are you alright?!" Kate asked worriedly.
"Ugh. Yeah, I'm fine, hehe, but good kick! Keep it up and you'll be a star! Just make sure that you don't hit someone in the face with the ball or else it could be bad for you both," Iris explained while rubbing her face.
Kate smiled at Iris' words and grabbed her ball before going back to play with her other siblings. Meanwhile Jenny was taking a drink from the water fountain as she felt pretty thirsty from playing soccer with her siblings. As she was drinking she felt something on her foot, so she looked and saw a dark blue bunny sniffing her foot.
"Aww hello there little one you hungry?" Jenny asked.
The bunny then looked at Jenny's hair and saw her amulet in it. When he saw that he jumped for joy and said, "I found you! You're the Dark Blue squad!"
"Wow! You can talk! Wait, if you can talk then, you must be my animal guide right?" Jenny asked.
"Yes I am, my name is Dillon and what is your name?" Dillon asked.
"I'm Jenny! And it's so nice to meet you. Iris is going to be so happy to see you again!" Jenny exclaimed happily.
"I know she'll be happy, and can I ask Jenny, but are you okay?" Dillon asked.
"I'm fine, why?" Jenny asked.
"Well your aura is kinda weak so I wanted to know if you were feeling bad or dishonest for any reason?" Dillon asked.
Jenny then frowned and told Dillon about how she's been feeling all day. After she was done explaining Dillon thought for a moment about what to say to Jenny to help her feel better. However before he could get a chance to say anything the two heard a crash and people screaming. When Jenny heard the commotion she got up and ran in the direction of the noise with Dillon following her. When they got to the source they saw a giant shadow lizard destroying the park center. It was enormous and had black scales that covered its whole body and its eyes were just pure white.
"OH no! I gotta stop it before someone gets hurt!" Jenny declared before screaming "RAINBOW POWER ACTION!"
Jenny then transformed into her rainbow squad form and called out, "Stop right there you mean shadow! I won't allow you to bring any more harm to this park!"
"Ah look who it is, the Dark Blue squad, I knew you showed up," Samuel said mockingly.
"Samuel! Why do you all always gotta bother us?! I just wanted to have fun out here and play some soccer with my siblings!" Jenny angrily explained.
"Ha, why should I care about what you're doing with your siblings? Not like it'll matter anyway after my shadow destroys you!" Samuel declared.
The shadow then let out a roar and charged at Jenny, who jumped up out of the way. However the lizard smacked Jenny with its tail and sent her flying into a tree.
"Ow... I'm alright!" Jenny called out.
Dillon sighed, relieved when Jenny heard that, but he had to think of something fast as Jenny's powers were getting weaker the longer she felt bad. Jenny then got up and jumped out of the tree before using her amulet to summon her bow to hopefully destroy the crystal ball and free the shadow. However when Jenny's bow appeared it immediately denigrated five seconds after being summoned.
"W-Wha!?" Jenny stammered confused by what happened to her weapon.
"HAHAH! Well, look at that! Your powers are so weak that you don't even have enough strength to summon your weapon. Now Shadow, destroy her!" Samuel commanded the shadow.
The shadow then opened its mouth and its tongue came out and wrapped around Jenny, before trying to pull her into its mouth. Thankfully Jenny reacted on time and managed to grab onto the outside of the shadow's mouth and fought against it.
"OH NO JENNY!" Dillon screamed in a panic.
"DILLON I NEED HELP! WHAT CAN I DO!?" Jenny screamed.
"WELL JENNY YOU KNOW HOW YOU'VE BEEN FEELING BAD ABOUT LYING TO YOUR FAMILY?!" Dillon asked.
"Y-YES WHY?" Jenny asked.
"WELL THINK ABOUT WHY YOU'RE LYING! YOU'RE DOING IT TO PROTECT THEM, AND YES LIES CAN BE BAD SOMETIMES, BUT THIS ISN'T THE CASE! YOUR REASON FOR LYING IS BECAUSE YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY'S SAFETY!" Dillon explained.
Jenny then thought about this for a moment and thought about the lie itself. As she thought about it she remembered when she threw a little surprise party for her family. No one knew about it except for her and her friends, and this kind of situation was similar to that one.
"The reason I'm lying is because I love them! And it's not a bad lie, it's a good lie as I'm doing it for a good cause! I'M PROTECTING MY FAMILY!" Jenny screamed, then her amulet glowed and a dark blue spear appeared in Jenny's hand. She then used the spear to pierce the shadow's tongue with it. This caused the tongue to disappear into a cloud of smoke and Jenny jumped out of its mouth. She aimed the spear up at the crystal ball that Samuel was holding. Samuel held it in front of his chest thinking that Jenny wouldn't hurt him. However Jenny knew that her magic wasn't designed to bring harm to others, it was meant to bring loyalty to others.
So she threw it at him and the spear shattered the crystal ball and it also got absorbed into Samuel's heart. When it did Samuel had some of his positive memories and feelings come back to him. Jenny saw that for a moment his hair and eyes were starting to return to normal which made her eyes gleaming with hope as she thought she had saved him. However a portal then opened behind him and a black spear hit him in the back causing his hair and eyes to change to black and red again. He then passed out and an arm came out and grabbed a hold of him. For a brief moment Jenny saw a pair of glowing red eyes before Samuel was pulled back into the portal.
Jenny stood there for a moment till she heard Iris screaming, "JENNY! JENNY, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!"
Jenny looked back and saw Iris running to her with a worried look on her face. "Don't worry Iris I'm fine, also I'm feeling better thanks to Dillon here," Jenny said then pointed to Dillon who was at her feet.
When Iris saw him she jumped for joy and picked him up in a big happy hug. "Oh Dillon! I'm so happy to see you again!" Iris exclaimed.
"Me to Iris, I've missed you so much!" Dillon said. Iris almost cried at this, another long lost friend was back with her at last after two long years of them being in different worlds. Jenny smiled at it as it's so sweet, just then her amulet started glowing dark blue and a line of light appeared out of it and went to a nearby statue. Jenny, Iris and Dillon then looked at each other before following the line to the statue. When they got there Iris noticed a dark blue gem stuck on the statue's crest. So she used her magic to take it out and she examined it.
"Oh Jenny! It's the Dark Blue Shard of the Rainbow crystal heart!" Iris exclaimed happily.
"Really? Congratulations, that's amazing! Now we only have two more shards left!" Jenny exclaimed happily.
"Yes Now let's go back to your younger siblings. And don't worry, one of your older siblings came by so they're alright!" Iris explained so Jenny wouldn't panic.
"That's good to know, now let's go!" Jenny exclaimed. She then transformed back to normal and left with Dillon sitting on her shoulder and Iris skipping behind them.
