Chapter 2- Years later
"I don't think this is a good idea."
The toddlers pushed through the wild grass, each one having different feelings towards the little plan they had thought out. They had walked through the field with determination and fear, all heading towards a biome that had old trees, grown in moss and vines that wrapped around its branches and trunks. Not a good picture in mind but it had kept the toddlers up.
"Oh come on Sky, won't ya like adventuring here?" The one in the front breathed, excitement and determination rising within his voice as he spoke to the younger boy, who fairly had the amount of fear draped into his soul.
The one who was seemingly the leader didn't mind though, too engulfed with their childish nature to care about anything.
"Yeah, but, It's a bit dangerous. I mean, we're out of the borders!" The short brunette exclaimed, his eyes wandering over the place as heat blared down at them. Sky frowned and walked a bit faster, catching up with the others as he struggled to keep the bag onto his shoulder. The word 'Inventory' was sewed into the bag, made out of gold, and shined once hit by the sunlight. He chose it for a reason.
"I agree, but it's sorta fun!" A blonde cheered, walking beside Sky as a smile was gently plastered onto his face. Golden eyes peered up at him, worry filling its pupils.
The brunette sighed, gripping his bag tighter as they neared the woods.
"I ain't gonna like the idea of this." Sky mumbled, watching his friend run, ignoring the grass that hit his body and continued walking. He tried to ignore the afternoon sunlight that kept making him sweat, and every time it does, he'd whine about it; which was often put down by his friends.
Sky focused on the ground, features of wild life and random other sorts made from the natural resources that had effected the environment, causing to form the field -that mostly seemed untouched- to have it's dangerous warmth travelling around.
His brown eyes still examined the ground. Spotting a few odd unbalanced prints in it. He cocked his head to the side, furrowing his eyebrows as he panicked a bit.
He eyed it as he walked, creating foot prints of his own, it almost matched the size of the odd symbol that had been pushed onto the gravel of the field.
He watched it for a few more moments, getting anxious every minute as his throat struggled to say anything. He kept quiet, his Adam's apple bobbing in his throat without a vocal to speak.
It was until he bumped into a taller toddler, stumbling to stand up but quickly gaining his composure as a hand held him.
He looked around, dazed at how it actually was darker than expected.
They had ended up underneath the shadows of the trees, making them relieved that the heat was gone, but terrified of the darkness blocking the sunlight, mist somehow surrounding the place, it also had breached out into the sunlight.
They reminded themselves of the place they were in, and backed up into a huddle to make sure non of them get lost.
The brunette huffed, letting out short unnoticed whimpers as they looked around, searching any type of nature.
Sky looked back, not even spotting the village as he took small steps into the damp place. He felt a bit homesick, wanting to abandon the group and run into the arms of his mother, who was none existant by now.
He teared up, face reddening, but deciding it was best to keep quiet and walk on. That's what his father told him, at least. He whimpered, which went noticed by the pale toddler beside him; who was busy looking underneath his foot as if he didn't know if he had stepped on something or not.
They immediately stopped, worry washing over them as they saw the brunette wipe a tear with his over sized sleeve.
"What's wrong?" The redhead asked sincerely, putting a encouraging hand on his shoulder. His big green eyes scanned the facials of the brunette, noticing his blurry eyes.
"Yeah, what he said." The blonde said, blue eyes trailing onto the boy that faced the ground. Tears dropping onto the slightly crumbled soil.
"Home." Sky sniffed, cupping his face with his hands and letting out small sobs.
His eyes widened, the feeling of memories flooding back as he tried to come up with a sentence, yet a few foot steps cut in, startling the toddlers a bit.
"Hey, don't worry dood." A canadian voice said, popping out of no where for the fourth time in the small awkward silence that settled upon the area, besides the insects though.
They looked at the owner of the voice, looking up at boy who had honey brown hair, who also had some weapons inside his back pack. He wore a white sweater, seeming big on his body a bit, along with a back pack that carried a stone axe.
The glasses wearing boy groaned.
"Mitch, bad time?" Another canadian asked, trying to comfort Sky with soft pats on the back. Mitch, who smirked and hopped over deeper into the forest by a few meters, huffed and placed both of his hands onto his hips.
"Hey, I'm just tryna comfort people, what's wrong with that?"
"Well, I don't think its a good time to pop in like everything isn't about to kill us "
"Oh come on,Like; one day, we're gonna look back at this and say 'damn, we looked so brave.'" Mitch grinned
". . ."
"Mitch, you swore."
The blonde scoffed, rolling his eyes as Sky sniffles and chuckled a bit. He was about to say something but was cut off by the feeling of branches moving. He looked around, thrilled to see slight movement in one of the trees.
"If you don't actually die, that is." Another voice popped out, more gruffy and gravelly. It had an effect which made the scenery have mischief and darkness, but what was off is that is sounded like a kid.
He jumped, making his heart speed up. His eyes travelled everywhere, looking for the source of the voice as as the others stayed oblivious to the new voice that has seemed to have echoed. Though they could definitely feel the sounds of trees shifting from a new weight.
Mitch glanced at them and made a 'psst' sound, catching the attention of the small group of toddlers as
"Are you a kid? If so, come out! Don't be afraid, we won't hurt you." The Canadian exclaimed calmly, despite the terrified grip he had on the stick, which look like it was about to break.
"I don't think I'm a kid, but," the voice trailed off.
Sky felt panicked, but quickly held in his breath.
"But you sound like one, so come out!" A sigh was heard, and a few gravelly footsteps sounded around the place, making their breaths hitch. Mitch gripped onto a sharp stick, eyes wandering over to a slightly dark clearing.
"Over there!" He pointed towards a figure that seemed very short, or, at least crawling, it was terrifying. The shorter brunette suppressed a scream, his reddish eyes going wide as he spotted the figure.
It soon morphed into a small, but growling dirt covered bacca, though, what was weird is that it was wearing tattered clothes. It was baring it's teeth, brown pupils staring up at them as it inched closer, near the Canadian actually.
"What, did you expect a kid to show up in these woods?" It spoke, sitting on its hind legs as its head rested on his slightly humanoid paws. His two canine teeth were visible, just about poking out from his upper lip. His brown eyes looked at then with innocence, no indication of being hostile or wary.
He did glare at them though.
"Answer the damn question."
"I, we, uh,-"
"Yes."
The blonde spoke, earning the attention of the group as the bacca tilted it's head.
There was a tiny stretch of silence before the bacca sighed, standing up on its hind legs and straitening its clothes. It wretched a paw out as its face remained emotionless.
"Mom said not to talk to strangers but, my name's Jerome." Jerome said as he waited patiently for someone to shake his hand-paw.
Mitch shook it, smiling as the bacca's lips curled into a smile. He might like them.
"I'm mitch." He greeted, flashing a pearly white smile as they all relaxed for a second. Though, very wary of their surroundings, which were starting to get darker every minute. The soft voices in the background were tuned out as Sky sniffed, brining the attention of the others.
"I-It's getting darker, shouldn't we be heading home by now?" Sky asked, cupping his arms as some of the toddlers gave off a worried look.
"I agree.." The shorter brunette whimpered, eyes trailing all over the place as mitch and jerome bickered in the background, probably discussing who was more tougher.
They stared at them for a moment, before looking at each other.
"We should head back, now. Mom and dad might have called out a search party by then." Tyler mumbles, wondering what might've happened if he got lost.
"Annnnd that's Jason!" Mitch cut it from a far, pointing towards the blonde who hung his mouth open. Blue eyes growing wide as he stared at them. Mitch had his arm swung over Jerome's shoulder, who surprisingly stood still and had no indication of any problems.
"I see, and why were you guys here?" Jerome asked, eyes wandering over to each of them, finally stopping on Sky, who had a few red blushes on his face. Mostly from crying.
He noticed the slight flashes of tears roll down his face, and quickly felt bad for each of them. Though, he noticed the slight change in his eyes and the bright, aging amulet that hung around his neck, which made him cringe a bit.
"Well, you guys better get going.." He sighed sadly, but snapping his head up as they all frowned, hoping for help but worrying about the place. He thought they might of came here just because they were adventuring.
"Or! You could come with me!" He suggested, grinning as the group looked at each other.
"Well yeah, sure!" He cheered, grinning widely with the bacca as they all thought about the offer.
"Mitch!?" The Canadian turned to the brunette, who walked up to him as his face shifted into a skeptical expression. Sky stood in front of the Canadian, who was a bit more taller than him by a nose. He glared up at him as the Canadian let out a 'hm?'.
"What?"
"We don't just randomly trust strangers, you know?" He gritted his teeth. He felt something roar inside of him, the burning feeling of murder rising in him.
"Hey, he has our back. He looks like a ferocious wolf!" Mitch towered over Sky, who narrowed his eyes. Yet Mitch managed a sweet smile and smirked, sticking a tongue out and patting Sky's head.
"Oh c'mon, don't be such a wheezy.." Mitch rolled his eyes, grabbing Sky's arm and dragging him along with him as he walked beside Jerome.
"I'm not-"
"Hey guys, are ya ready to go?" Mitch smiled, trying not to laugh as the brunette beside him fused. He rolled his eyes at the mad glare that the brunette was shooting at him.
"Yeah, guess so!" They all nodded, following the bacca as Sky stared in disbelief, Mitch looking at him with a smug grin.
"You- gah, fine!" Sky grumbled, following after the group as Mitch went from behind. He didn't like this pretty much from the fact that they were heading into a damn forest and following a young stranger for Notch's sake.
Few hours later | 7:38 |
They had been walking around, oceans I on ally bumping or tripping over something from the blindness they had into the darkness. But luckily, the shorter brunette had carried some torches, which had fortunately saved them from not seen monsters.
They walked passed a lake, but Sky had felt the uneasiness dwell in him from how deep the lake actually was. He imagined a monster with tentacles to pop up from the surface. Though, he knew that would be impossible.
They soon ended up in a place, surrounded by mossy trees that had thick leaves that could block out the sun, but it was enough to block them from the monsters none the less.
"Alright, we're in our destination!" Jerome stood up on his hind legs, raising his paws up as his fluffy tail wagged behind him. Despite the dirt that covered him, he managed to make himself bright.
They seemed unfazed though, staring at the old, worn down cabin that was engulfed in vines and thick moss. Sky gulped.
"A...witch's house..?" The short brunette asked, trying to keep some strands of hair from his eye as he stared at the cabin in surprise. His shirt had long been darkened to gray as his slacks were covered in dirt, along with tiny cuts.
Another moment of silence stretched in between them all (lol, if this had music in the background then this would be really tense)
Making them stutter a bit.
"Well, whattaya waiting for? Just try to follow me." The bacca smiled reassuringly, his brown eyes looking at the as if they meant no harm. Sky clutched his teeth, his golden eyes staring at the place before landing on the cabin.
I don't think this is a good idea..
