Chapter 12
It was after school and Jung Kook was at his locker. He was going to head straight over to Sky's house after leaving school, so he made sure to take his maths books out of his locker.
As he was almost finished packing his bag he was pushed into the lockers. He fell to the ground. He looked up to see who the person who pushed him was and surprise, surprise it was Jay. Jung Kook was scared but annoyed.
"I heard you're tutoring Sky" Jay said looking down at Jung Kook.
"Yeah and?" Jung Kook said. He was annoyed at Jay, he didn't think of what would happen.
"And she's my ex, I don't need a perv like you to be hanging around her" Jay said picking Jung Kook up by the collar.
Jung Kook gulped but found himself getting angry. "She's your ex, why does it matter?"
Jay didn't seem to like that and tightened his grip but it seemed like he couldn't decide what to do to Jung Kook and let him go. He walked off and left Jung Kook by his locker.
"Asshole" Jung Kook muttered as he picked up his bag.
---
Sky was already home after school; she had a free period last and need to get out of the hell hole that was school. She was waiting for Jung Kook to arrive for the tutoring. She felt a little nervous and she couldn't understand why.
'You just broke up with your boyfriend, how could you be thinking about another boy?' she thought to herself as she laid on her bed. In the middle of her thought she heard a knock from down stairs. She got up and walked down to the door. She opened it and gestured for Jung Kook to come in, without saying anything.
"Come up to my room" Sky said as she headed up the stairs. She couldn't hear Jung Kook behind her so she stopped to look back at him. "Come on" she gestured for him to follow.
Jung Kook awkwardly scratched the back of his neck and started walking up the stair. Sky shook her head as she continued to walk.
Sky noticed he looked nervous when they entered her room. "So you can sit over here" she said pulling out the chair at her desk, "And I'll just go get another chair, do you want anything? A drink or snack?" she said heading to the door but stopping to look back at Jung Kook.
"No... I'm alright" Jung Kook said awkwardly as Sky then left the room.
'He's so awkward it's cute' she thought to herself walking down the stairs. She went into the kitchen and got herself a glass of water and a bag of chips. She then somehow managed to take a chair up the stairs without dropping the water or chips.
"Um so what do you want to start with?" Jung Kook asked as Sky sat next to him.
"Equations... I suck at them" Sky answered opening her book.
"Wow you actually have maths in that book now" Jung Kook said looking at her book.
"Yeah, I didn't have anything to do so I copied out your maths notes" Sky said and smiled at him. He looked at her and smiled too.
There was a pause as they both just looked at each other. Sky broke the silence, "So equations..." She looked at her book finding the equations she needed help with.
"Oh yeah... um with these ones you have to make them equal zero first" Jung Kook explained.
"Ah... that's why they weren't working."
---
Jung Kook was standing in Sky's room. He felt so awkward. Sky had just left to get another chair to sit on at her desk. Jung Kook sat on the chair that was already at the desk and began pulling out books from his bag.
He moved his chair over as Sky came back into the room with another for herself. Jung Kook was also impressed that she managed to carry a chair, a glass of water and a bag of chips up the stairs.
"Um so what do you want to start with?" Jung Kook asked as she sat next to him.
"Equations... I suck at them" Sky answered opening her book.
Jung Kook looked at her book and was amazed to see more than just drawings "Wow you actually have maths in that book now".
"Yeah, I didn't have anything to do so I copied out your maths notes" Sky said and smiled at him. He looked at her and smiled too. His awkwardness seemed to start going away, but he was still nervous.
There was a pause as they both just looked at each other. Jung Kook was admiring her, 'she is very pretty'. Sky broke the silence and interrupted Jung Kook's thoughts, "So equations..." She looked at her book.
"Oh yeah... um with these ones you have to make them equal zero first" Jung Kook explained.
He watched as she thought about it, "Ah... that's why they weren't working."
They continued to work for another 2 hours. Jung Kook noticed that Sky picked up the work very quickly. She was actually really smart.
"I think it's time for a break" Sky said after finishing a question. She then leaned back in her chair.
"Okay... what do you want to do?" Jung Kook asked. His nervousness came back thinking that now he actually had to have a conversation not about maths with her.
"Mm... I want to know more about you" She said looking at Jung Kook.
"What do you want to know?" Jung Kook said, wiping his hands on his pants.
"Why'd you move here?" Sky asked.
"Um... my parents got promotions and had to move here for it" Jung Kook said now rubbing the back of his neck.
"So you got dragged along..."
"Yeah..." there was an awkward silence. "Is there anything else you want to know?"
"I don't know yet" Sky answered.
"Can I ask you something?" Jung Kook said. Sky nodded. "Why do you act dumb?"
She raised her eyebrows at him, "Because I didn't want to be a nobody anymore."
