Gil's POV

Friday hit me like a freight train. I woke up late thanks to Luddy leaving early. I basically had to run to school since I missed the bus. I looked like a mess. I barely got to homeroom when the bell rang for first period. I took a nap the entirety of my free period. I had to rush to second period and I basically slammed myself in my seat.

Not that Matthew next to me was any better. He looked just as dead as I did.

"You look like you were hit by a truck. " He said, keeping his gaze to the teacher. His lips quirked up.

"So do you."

"I'm guessing you woke up late?"

"Yep."

"Guess we're one in the same." He sighed, his smile falling. "I really don't want to be here."

"Me either. I'm tempted to just skip."

"Let's do it." His smile came back.

"What?" He looked at me.

"Let's just skip."

"It's like my third day and tommorow we don't even have school so what would be the point in that?"

"Four hours isn't worth it."

"Yes, I know, but leaving would have consequences."

"Consequences I'm willing to take."

"Matthew, Gilbert, is there something you two have to say to the whole class?" We both whipped our heads to the front at the teacher.

"No!" We both said.

"Then pay attention." She went back to the board. I waited a moment to continue with Matthew.

"Are you crazy?" I whisper-yelled.

"Maybe?" Why is it now that I realize how small his voice actually is? He's not even whispering, he's just talking normally.

"Why is that a question?"

"I don't know anymore." I shook my head with a sigh at his insanity.

"I'm never going to understand you."

"And so we kept being called on by the teacher until the bell rang."

"I think you've lost it."

"I think he's lost it not me."

"Well, that's true but you've definitely lost it too "

"How?"

"It's been about 10 minutes since you called me and you've been talking about him nonstop."

"Oh."

"You're definitely falling for the guy." Toni teased.

"I am not!" My voice echoed in the library and I shut my mouth immediately. Got a few looks too.

He laughed. "Believe what you want but you know I'm an expert at this."

"Expert?" It was my turn to laugh. "Alright, okay, how's the relationship? Still complicated?"

"Go fuck yourself." I laughed again.

"Seriously though," I sighed, calming down. "how is it?"

"It went to absolute shit, honestly."

"Really?"

"Yep." He sighed. "I am ready to just leave everything behind and just go to live with you at this point. I want to be as far away from him as possible."

"God, it must've been awful."

"It was horrendous. If I look like trash when you see me, you know why."

"I'll make sure to have plenty of tomatoes for you."

"Tomatoes?" I looked up at the sudden voice. Lovino stood watching me.

"Who was that?" Toni asked.

"It was..." Lovino and I locked eyes for a second and I debated myself if I should tell Toni who it was. I bet he would break my ear but it would also mess witg Lovino. "Lovino."

"Wait, what?" Toni gasped. "You're not fucking with me, are you?"

"No, it's actually Lovino." He screamed at that. He was so loud that I had to pull away my phone from my ear.

"What the hell is that?" Lovino asked with a scowl.

"You remember Toni, right?"

"Yes." He said slowly.

"That's what that is."

"Oh god, no." His face seemed to lose color.

"I'm putting him on speaker." I pressed the speaker button and the scream got louder. "Toni, you're on speaker!" I yelled into the phone.

"Lovi!" He squealed.

"I hate you." Lovino groaned.

"It really is you! Your voice got so deep, I couldn't even recognize you." Toni was using that sweet voice he had. I've only ever seen him use it for Lovino. It sounds like he's shoving a cake down your ears though.

"I was happy about that until this asshole revealed my identity."

Toni giggled, "You're so funny, Lovi! How is everything?"

"Not too bad I-"

"Lovi, I need to talk to you." We all went silent at Matthew's sudden presence. Lovino and I whipped our heads in his direction. How we heard him is beyond me but he looked a bit pissed off. Or maybe he was just tired, I couldn't tell. I don't think he even noticed me there.

"Who was that?" Toni asked. It was then that Matthew noticed me and the phone. Nothing but surprise was on him now. He looked at me with a helpless look as if he didn't know if he should say anything.

"That was Matthew." I said. Toni gasped.

"That's the guy?"

"Yeah." Matthew gave me a questioning glance.

"Matthew!" Toni squealed. "Gil's told me about you! He told me you guys are friends, is that really true? And that your voice is really soft, I couldn't really hear it so I'm not entirely sure on that either. I'm his friend Toni by the way!" Toni always does this and it's the only time I want to actually strangle him. He's embarrassing me.

"I guess we are kind of friends." Matthew smiled; amused. He leaned in closer to the phone.  "And yes my voice is really soft, it's a bit irritating."

"It's so cute though!"

"Really?"

"Yeah, it explains a lot." I could practically see the smirk that Toni had on now. It's the 'I'm about to ruin your life' smirk. "He talks about you a lot, you know." Definitely that smirk.

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah, he said that you've gone insane or something like that."

"Insane? Well, isn't that just rude."

"I know, right? Even more when he's the crazy one."

"I am not crazy." I butted in.

"Yes you are~!"

"I'm disowning you."

"No wait, I take it-"

"I'm hanging up now!"

"Gil, please!"

"Bye Toni!" I hung up. Imediately my phone buzzed with a text.

"That's one hell of a friend you have there." Matthew chuckled.

"Toni is one hell of a friend."

"He's an ass, is what he is." Lovino scowled.

"He didn't seem like it." Matthew frowned at him.

"Well, he is."

"You sound like a little kid." He rolled his eyes.

"I do not!"

"You do."

"You're an ass."

"So are you, now shut the hell up because I have to talk to you about something important." There was tension between the two. I was curious but I'd rather not get involved. That wouldn't be a good idea on my part. "I'll see you later Gilbert." He smiled at me and the two walked off.

I looked at my phone to see the text that Toni sent me once they did.

Toni: I can see why you like him so much

Toni just about ruined my social life and he's just brushing it off. I have a terrible choice in friends.

Gil: I hate u
