Chapter 4

Chapter 4: What?

After we shopped we met at the food court. I was exhausted and Michelle was just getting started. She was disapointed when I announced that I was burnt out.

"We'll work on that." She said as we sat down with our food.

I had cheese fries, Gabby ordered a burger, Michelle had a salad because she's "vegan", Sarah ordered the same because she hates greasy foods, and the boys ordered Cheese burger deluxes with a side of fries. Yikes!

"So, how were you guy's shopping trip?" Gabby asked our brothers.

"It was cool." They said in unison. I crained my neck over the table to try and see if they had actually shopped much and they did. Seth had about 5 bags and Travis had 7. All from the same stores.
FootLocker, Dick's, and Hot Topic. So basic Californian, freshmen.

"How about you guys?" Travis asked. Then Seth groaned in frustration when he saw the glow in Sarah's eyes to the question. He knew she was about to rant.

"Well, it was so fun! I went to Like 20 different shops, and bought from all! I went bizerk in Sephora, I know... I should have focused on clothes but I got like 16 outfits so Im good! Plus I still have clothes at home! I bought the new Orgasm blush and its soooo nice! I got like 4 different shades and..." She was cut off by Seth's hand.

"We get it." He said and stood up to throw his trash away. It cannot be healthy to eat that fast.

Travis leaned into the table.

"Orgasm blush?" He asks with a little smirk. Sarah starts to blush and shrinks in her seat.

"See, why do you spend so much money on blush, when I just made you blush like that?" He asks, his smirk growing bigger.

God. The cringe of someone flirting with my clueless sister is real.

"Dude." Seth says to Travis and Travis leans back in his seat putting his hands up in defense.

"So, what did you buy? Hopefully you didn't put our parents into bankruptcy." Seth asks me. I scoff.

"Dude, I bought the whole freaking mall!" I say.

Michelle scoffs and looks at me.

"She didnt even see half of the mall." Michelle says. I chuckle and shrug.

"I just bought from like 13 of the 20 stores we entered." I admit.

"Insane." Gabby says. I laugh again. They must be shopaholics.

"I got everything I needed. I got a good 25 outfits. Dont worry. I bought some lip supplies as well and nailpolish." I explain holding up my bags.

"Good." Michelle and Gabby say at once. I cringe at the twin-telepathy. Sarah and Seth do it all the time. Its annoying.

"You guys ready to go home?" They all answer with shrugs and groans but eventually we made it to the car and were on our way home. Im excited to see what the future holds at Imperial Beach High School.

----------------------------------------

It was Tuesday morning, August 25th, the first day of my senior year at a new school. I was officially the new girl.

I woke up anxious and sweaty on account to my abnormal dream of a gummy bear eating me and the constant thought of how this new school would treat me.

I had picked out an outfit, done my hair and my makeup..... all in my head. I was dreading the fact that I had to do it all over again in real-life.

I reluctantly got out of bed and did my normal 'Get ready before you get ready' thing and ran down stairs for breakfast. As I entered the kitchen I saw my Mother, Aunt Rose, Sarah, Seth, and Steven. My father had already gone to work. They all sat waiting for me at the breakfast table.

"Morning." I say sleepily. They all respond back the same way, sleepily.

"Fend for yourself." Aunt Rose says.

I groan and walk to the refrigerator. I look in to see yogurts...yogurts of all sorts, except strawberry. I frowned and ran my fingers threw my hair.

"Who ate all the strawberry?" I ask with a pout.

Sarah shrugs. Seth shrugs and Steven just looks at me with his hands hidden under the table. I groan and walk towards him slowly. He starts to whine and mom looks at me with warning eyes. The same eyes I gave Steven.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know you wanted it." He says with a baby voice. I roll my eyes and walk back to the fridge.

I looked back in and grabbed some jelly. I grabbed some bread from the cupboard and plopped two slices in the toaster.

Standing, I wait impatiently at the toaster. Suddenly the bread pops up and startled me even though I thought I was fully prepared for the surprise.

I finished making my toast and sat at the table with my family.

"Excited?" My mom asks, her face brightening.

Sarah shivers, Seth rubs the back of his neck, and I smile.

"So, no then?" She asks. Everyone shrugs except me.

"Im excited. A little nervous but excited none the less." I say.
My mom smiles and stands.

"Well if you will excuse me I have to get Steven ready for school." My mom says and walks away. Steven is home schooled but he has a teacher come out to actually teach him. Mom still wanted his teeth brushed, hair combed, and clothes neat. She hated sloppiness.

As I finished my toast I stood and excused myself. I rinsed my plate and sat it in the dishwasher.

I ran up stairs to take a quick shower and get ready.

I decided to leave my natural slightly wavy beach curls in my hair and tossed it into a side part.

I wore a plain white cropped top and a black leather skater skirt with white converse. Super simple.

I head downstairs to see Sarah wearing a sky blue sun dress that stopped right above the knee and beige sandals that strapped around her legs all the way up to the knee. Her hair was in a messy bun and she looked gorgeous. Seth wore a navy blue v-neck and black skinny jeans with black Doc martens.

I sigh at the style my little brother stuck with. Hopefully his look won't attract the actual bad boys. He can't be getting in trouble all the time. My parents would have a fit.

I jingle my car keys getting there attention and we walk out the door to see Gabby and her siblings heading towards us.

"Hey guys." I say to them. They all smile and wave all except Gabby, of course she had too do extra and jump on me. She giggles and gets off me with a huge grin.

"Excited?" She asks.

"Yeah, a little nervous though." I respond. She nods in understanding.

"Well don't be. Everyone's going to love you." She says as we all get in the car.

I sigh. "Hopefully."
I say as we drove to the school. It took us about 10 minutes to get there. We could have just walked but I didn't mind driving.

We enter the building and everything is normal. Everyone is worried about reuniting with old friends, not me. I sigh in relief. I look at Gabby and Michelle both giving me ' are you ready?' looks. I shrug and they smile.

They both lock arms with me and strode down the hallway with so much confidence you absorb it. I found myself walking with my head high until suddenly they weren't.

I looked to see what it was that changed their demeanor and all I saw was a clear path and a tall figure. This hall was just crowded. When did they move? Why did they move?

All I knew was that everyone was looking at us like we were crazy and the twins were frozen in fear. Usually I'd be asking questions but something told me to keep my mouth shut.

I look at this tall figure again who was now closer and I could now make out his face. He was so....plain.
He wasn't anything special. What was the problem. I wasn't the slightest bit intimidated until he got within reach. If he were to reach forward he could touch me and something about that completely washed away my confidence. This was Ethan. This was the guy they told me about. He was troubled. I could see it. I could feel it, but I couldn't move an inch.

"You wanna move?" He asked us with raised impatient eyebrows. His voice was smooth. It wasn't too deep or too high it was just right and scary enough to make Michelle have the strength to pull Gabby and I to the side. Like clock work Ethan kept walking. He didn't even look back.

"That was terrifying." Gabby says. Michelle nods in agreement. I stay watching Ethan.

"Thats what I meant by stay away from him. The whole schools afraid of him." Michelle says. I look at her and back at him.

"Yeah." I agree but something in me was telling me that he wasn't all that bad. Of course I wasn't going to test that theory. I'd rather not die.

"Well. I have to get to class. Can you find your way?" Gabby asks. I nod.

"Good luck!" They say and walk off. I sit there for a few more seconds before realizing that I had just nodded yes to that question.

   Crap.
