Chapter 1: The New Girl
Chapter 1- The New Girl
"Ma', me and the twins are going to the beach!" I shout from our new living room, towards the kitchen.
My mom and Aunt Rose, our housekeeper (whom I call my aunt) shuffle into the living room with whine glasses wrapped in newspaper.
"Are you finished packing?" They ask simultaneously. I look down at my feet trying to stall for the obvious answer that I didnt.
"No, but the twins keep bugging me about it." I lie. The twins asked once and I'd said yes with excitement. They weren't even ready to leave.
"Are they done packing?" Mom had asked. I huff in response.
All she does is tsk and walk back in the kitchen, unraveling the whine glasses while Aunt Rose followed.
You could never get them away from each other. They're best friends. We only got a housekeeper when mom was going through PTSD after having Steven, my 10 year old brother who has down syndrome. She needed the extra help with me, the twins and Steven running ammock and dad working all the time. Rose grew on us and mom kept her around even though mom cleans equally and brought us up cleaning our own mess.
We were too scared not to, dad had OCD and mom just liked to be clean.
Now that I had got an obvious answer, I rushed to my new room to finish unpacking.
I didnt have many clothes because we were supposed to be going shopping tomorrow.
I loved my room because it had a bathroom even though the bathroom wasnt my own. It was a conjoined room through the bathroom. Sarah, one of the twins and I are very close so it doesnt bother me to share bathrooms with her, as long as Steven and Seth, the other twin stay out of it, its fine.
I sigh as I walk to my boxes of things, unpacking my pictures of my family and placing it on my mahogany dresser. I walk across the room to a box with my old stuffed animals and I place them in a hamper my mom bought for me last year.
I place them gently inside and walk over to my clothes. I put my undergarments in the drawer and a few t-shirts and jeans in the closet. I look around and find one last box with my bed garments in it. I unpack my sheets, duvet, and pillows.
I quickly make my bed and plop down on it.
"Ahhh." I say and bask in the glory for which is my bed.
Suddenly my peace is rudely interrupted with the sound of my Iphone ringing.
"Hello?" I answer.
"Samantha! I saw your post, did you really move here?" Gabby shouts in my ear.
"Yes!" I say with excitement.
"This is so awesome! I finally get to see you in person!" She shouts happily.
"I know, Im stoked." I say with a smile.
Gabby and I have been knowing each other for 3 years now. She is my bestfriend but the thing is, I've never met her in person.
We met off of instagram and ever sense then we've texted, called, and facetimed each other. Now I've moved in the same city as her, something I never thought would actually happen.
"So, where do you live? I could help you unpack." she offers.
"Actually, Im done unpacking but you could come to the beach with me and the twins? Its right behind my house." I say.
"Wait, you live right off the beach too? Oh my God! What if we like live right down the street from each other?" She squeals.
"Gander St.?" I ask with anticipation.
All I hear is a squeal. This can only mean one thing.
"Oh my God, Samantha! What address?" She asks.
"3...5...732!" I shout.
"Sammy! I live like 4 houses down!" She shouts.
"No!" I say in denial.
"Yes!" She shouts!
"Get over here now!" I say happily and hang up the phone I hurriedly grab the empty boxes around my room and run to the front door of my knew home. When I stand on the porch I see a small figure running my way. This small figure is my best friend, in the flesh and I couldnt be happier.
I throw the empty boxes on the ground and run to her and we met in the middle of my yard and she basically tackles me on the ground. Our loud voices cover the neighborhood with squeals and giggles and 'I cant believe this is happenings'. How cliché can my life be right now?
As we finally get over the shock of being in each other's presence we step back and observe.
Gabby was 10 times more beautiful in person. I wonder how she felt about me?
"Wow, I thought you were alot taller." She says and I stiffle a giggle.
"You lied about your height!" She accuses and accuses correctly.
"Yeah, well I like to think Im taller and I never thought Id meet you in person!" I defend myself.
She chuckles.
"Yeah well, as you can see....I lied too." She says gesturing to her small frame.
"Im 5 feet." She says with a pout.
I giggle and hug her.
"So sad....so sad. I know, I am too!" I say with my bottom lip poking out.
"Promise you'll never grow?" She says with her pinky finger out.
"I promise." I say accepting the pinky swear.
"Can you help me pulverize these boxes and put them in the recycling bin?" I ask.
"Of course." She agreed.
