Outro: My Thoughts on Azur Lane
Hey bros, it's me, Attacking Oreos! Oh god...my thoughts on Azur Lane? That's a pretty hard thing to describe in only a couple of paragraphs, so this will probably be very long (Yes it will be). Where do I even start? Uh...I guess I should start with my first impressions and history with Azur Lane. Basically how I got into it, and what I thought of it back then, because I still remember what I thought of it back then.
I barely remember it, but I think I first got the Azur Lane game in June of 2019. The whole reason why I downloaded it is very boring, but I basically just wanted a bunch of mobile anime games. I downloaded about 5 other anime games and Azur Lane just happened to be one of them, and it's now the only game out of those 5 games that I'm still playing to this day.
After it finished downloaded, I immediately started playing it. It was the second game that I started playing out of the 5. I didn't know anything about the game back then. I didn't know it was based on Navy ships or anything like that, I just saw it as an anime styled game, and I just liked it for that. I played the first couple a missions, and I got to the dorm and daily missions part. Then I went to try out the another games. The other 4 games were from completely different genres and different franchises that I would still like to this day, but Azur Lane was the only one that I kept. For the next couple of months after that, it was a big blur. All I remember is that I didn't even try to do any missions, and I only focused on daily missions, commissions, and getting any reward ships, and that was my daily dose of Azur Lane back then, I would go on for at least twice a day, it wasn't anything I was too crazy about, and I only got 'really' into this game when I first started writing this story.
A little side note, I didn't know it was based around navy ships and history until I saw a meme of it, and it was a tweet of someone saying 'you should join the Navy, because if you do really f***ing good you will get a ship named after you, and then that ship will get taken by a Chinese company, and will turn that ship into a big tiddy anime girl', then it showed a picture of the Azur Lane App logo (Enterprise's face), of course that made me laugh, then I saw the logo, and then I started wondering, and I then connected the dots, and then my brain went 'Wait a minute...let's do some researching.' Then I looked up USS Laffey on google (she was the first girl I thought of) and it showed both a link of the IRL destroyer, and a link to the Azur Lane wiki. My mind was blown just from that, and my point of view on Azur Lane changed quite a bit. Ok, that was too long to be little side note, but anyway.
Now, onto the origin of how I started this story. Ok, so this started in early December of 2019, and I was posting my old Senran Kagura story (Pick one, doesn't matter), and I thought "Man...there are so many people that do stories for other series." I wanted to be that type of person that could make story from different series, not just Senran Kagura. Then I started thinking of what series I should do. Then one night, I had a dream that was related to me and Azur Lane (to sum it up, my sister was taken away by a mechanical ship, which I later knew were the Sirens, and the dream ended with me joining the navy, I'm sad that I woke up before I got to see any of the ships though), but that dream made me think of an Azur Lane story. I created the plot of the first episode, but I didn't know what to name the main character, so I just ripped off the name Takeo straight from CoD; Zombies. I initially would post only one episode per week, because I thought it was only going to be a little more popular than my Senran Kagura story, BOY WAS I WRONG! I didn't understand why, but it blew up so much that I was getting more Votes on my Azur Lane story than the amount of Views I was getting on my Senran Kagura story.
Then my Azur Lane story hit the popularity that it did, and I was thinking 'Wow, either Azur Lane is this new and popular, or I'm that good...it's got to be the game's popularity.' I actually felt bad that I was basically banking off of Azur Lane's popularity. Then I thought 'Ok, no more half-assing this story anymore. I need to give this story my full attention.' So I did, and I tried my hardest to make it as good as it is now.
Heh, now for the part that you guys were promised from the title of the chapter. My thoughts about Azur Lane. How can I simplify this? I had my best friend, play this game just to see what she would think of it. She came back to me one week later, and said "When it comes to visuals and soundtrack, this game is really great at it. The thing is, the gameplay is a bit too uncontrollable. I don't like that the ships fire at random, because it seems more like the game is controlling the ships and not the player." She didn't get into any character's personality except for Laffey, who she hated...and I hate her for hating Laffey. But now, after I played the game for about 5 months without caring about the missions, I can say...the only agreed with her on the visuals and soundtrack. Personally, I didn't really care about the whole 'ships will fire at random' thing. In fact, I'd only use Auto back then, and I still do to this day.
So here are MY THOUGHTS, I'm only going to talk about the parts I really like about this game, because I don't wanna spread negativity on this game. Here we go! I love the character designs, and their personalities. The music is really good. The gacha part of it is complete BS and it makes me suffer, but I love it. I love the affinity system where you can marry your ship waifus, it has always been a dream for me, and probably many other people too. The memes are very nice, it has some very spicy Homework Folder material. And I think the concept of 'Anime girls based around Navy ships' was a great decision, because it can show that people can play a game for different reasons. Some can play it because it's an anime game, some play because it's a gacha game, some play it so you can waste countless hours and burn piles of money on it like it's Fate; G.O. Some people can play it competitively, and some people play it just because they want to see the historical references. I think it's games like this where not just the anime community will love, but people who just love the content within of the game could enjoy it, and I think that it's genius.
That's my thoughts on Azur Lane. I wasn't going to get into any of the events or anything like that, because I don't even remember them that well. I've have had many great waifus from this game, but my favorite ones would have to be the following: Unicorn, Yamashiro, Laffey, Z23, Ayanami, Enterprise, Dido, Eldridge, Akagi, Javelin, San Diego, Portland, Indianapolis, Atago, Takao, Belfast, Illustrious, Graf Spee, Prinz Eugen, Sovetskaya Rossiya, and many many more.
And that's it for this story, I can't believe it, but this is now going to be set to 'completed'. I might take a little break before making another Azur Lane story, but I'm definitely not only going to be doing Senran Kagura stories, I might even make an original story.
Finally, I would like to thank every single one of you guys who made it through the whole book. Thank you for all of your views, votes, and comments...and for the final time in this story! I'll see you guys next time!
