Jane - The Reunion

*Don't ask how Jane can talk to Mike. It wasn't explained in the original play, either.*

And so, with the city under the Voodoopunk's control, Luke has outlived his usefulness. Jane hands him over to the Voodoopunks to be executed-

"Executed? No, Mike. He's just a kid. Maybe a little misguided, but even I don't think he deserves to die."

But Jane-

"That's enough, Mike. He's coming with me."

Alright, fine. And so, Jane and.... ugh, Luke travel to the city above, where the whole city is in a mindless trance.

"What have you done?" Asks Luke.

"Something wrong. I've done something... very wrong.

Together, they walk through the streets, amongst the brainwashed citizens, seeing the damage Jane has made. Meanwhile, coming towards them, Ellen and Andy come towards them, hand in hand through the streets, despite the world around them. Finally, on Crier's Blvd, the four spot each other and finally meet. And after years, Jane and Andy, brother and sister, reunite. They look at each other blankly for a second.

"Well, we never were good siblings, were we?" She asks.

"Always pretending to talk about our issues, when all we really did was ignore them."

"But.... even so, I'm glad I got to see you again, Andy. And I'm even more glad that Ellen did, too."

"Ellen!" Luke, despite their argument earlier, runs up and hugs Ellen, his best friend. Despite the awkwardness, Ellen hugs him back.

"I'm so glad I finally found you." Luke says.

"I'm glad they let you go. They were wrong. I was wrong. I'm so sorry."

"So am I, Ellen. So am I."

Ellen steps back and sighs. "Everyone up here is obsessed with control and dominance. I'm glad to find someone sane."

"How have you survived up here so long?" Luke asks her.

Ellen smiles and takes her father's hand. "I found my father. We just... walked and talked together. I've never felt so... at ease."

"I'm sorry, you're saying you strolled about in this apocalypse?" Luke says. Ellen, Andy, and Jane ignore him, but then he makes a good point;  "Why haven't you been... brainwashed... by the song? Why haven't any of us?"

Jane places a hand on his shoulder. "We've been possessed before, so we're immune. Andy's body has been mutilated, so it may not affect him as well. But Ellen, there's no reason why it wouldn't affect you. I can only say it's because you haven't heard it enough yet."

"Then we have to leave the city." Andy says, taking his daughter by the hand. "The city is lost now; we must leave before it destroys us."

Suddenly, they hear the all-too-familiar song behind them. A few mindless people wander closer to them. Luke, Jane, and Andy all take a step back, but Ellen keeps staring.

"We have to run." Andy says.

"We will not be running..." Ellen drops her father's hand and comes closer to the people.

"Ellen! Don't go near them! If you hear you'll become brainwashed, too!" Luke shouts.

"No... I can hear something else... a different song. Shh, listen." As Ellen gets closer to the people, the other song, the one only she can seem to hear becomes louder. And it tells her everything. Everything about what she's been missing. It tells her what to see, and to open her eyes. And she comes back out of the trance not as herself, but as someone stronger; and now, smarter.

"I know what we can do."
