EZRA
Ezra was peacefully sleeping in his bed when someone knocked on the door. Groaning he turned over and tried to get some more sleep, but the door opened and Ezra turned to see who was at the door.
"Ezra, sweetheart," He heard his mother say. "Wake up."
"Ugh mom do you have any idea what time it is?" Ezra complained.
"Yeah it's eight in the morning," Shela responded. "Come on son, I thought maybe we'd have a mother and son bonding time."
"Can't it wait?"
"Nope! While your father and cousin are out on a hunt, we need to have time together, we barely do," Shela responded. "Now get dressed because we're going to the mall." Shela kissed Ezra on the forehead and walked out of the room. Ezra sighed and pushed his blankets off him. Although he was at home with his sister, it surprised him that his mother didn't ask for her to come along. Ezra got out of bed and got dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a dark shirt.
He walked out of his room and started making his way downstairs, the difference between the previous night and now was that his sister and younger cousin weren't there. He wondered where they went, maybe his cousin and sister went out themselves. The only people who were home were him, his mother and his uncle who was currently in the library making notes from the previous hunts they went on.
"Mom? Why are we going to the mall?"
"Because I checked your wardrobe and you have nothing new."
"Oh, come on! Mom have you ever heard of privacy?"
"Sorry sweetie but that's my job now get your shoes on and we can go."
"Alright," Ezra said "but don't be surprised if I'm complaining." Ezra walked away and came back to his mother and his uncle talking. Clearly they were talking about him, but Ezra didn't quite care, the sooner they got the shopping done, the better he was going to be. After his little time travel adventure and what he had drawn, he was ready to just get things out of the way and forget everything that ever happened. Ezra and his mother walked out of the bunker and got into his mother's jeep. A bright red 2022 Jeep Wrangler. Ezra climbed into the passenger's seat as his mother got into the driver's seat. Eventually, they started on the road. Ezra stared out the window deep in thought, especially after he had been drawing something that was scaring him a lot. Each time he drew the creepy box it always looked like something was getting ready to come out of it. He wished he could tell his mother but there were things he couldn't do.
"Ezra?" Shela said causing Ezra to snap out of his thoughts and turned to face his mother. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, i'm perfectly fine mom," Ezra reassured her. "I've just been lost in thought, especially after everything that happened."
"Well traveling to 1522 can make you exhausted." Shela responded. "But stop thinking about that and start thinking about our bonding time. We barely even get to do this anymore and it's something that I would really like to do instead of being cooped up in that bunker."
"But why do we have to go clothes shopping? Couldn't you go with Aunt Marina, Aunt Kristina, or even Emma?"
"Well for one, Kristina doesn't like shopping and for another, Emma, Marina and I have already gone."
"What about Mary?" Ezra asked.
"Your father and cousin are on their own hunt," Shela said. "Now quit acting like this and start enjoying yourself."
"I don't see how shopping for clothes is enjoyment." Ezra complained as they eventually arrived at the mall. His mother parked the car, and the two got out of the car, Ezra walked into the mall with his mother which was bustling with people all over the place. They spent time in the mall for at least and hour and a half searching for clothes. Half the time they were in the men's department and his mother was constantly pointing out different styles that she thought would look good on him. Ezra complained he was getting bored and that none of the clothes had interested him. His mother rolled her eyes and told him he didn't have to stay around her, he could have wandered off by himself especially since he was old enough to wander around on his own.
Ezra shrugged and walked away from his mother, but not before making sure he looked at his phone in case he accidentally silenced it. Knowing that he was good, Ezra walked further into the mall and started looking around. The mall was large and from the outside; he thought it was going to be small but the inside; it was so big with different stores all on either side of the mall. As he walked through the mall, he noticed that in the center was a man reading cards. Curious, Ezra walked over to watch, people of many ages and gender were sitting in the audience and watching the man.
"Thank you all for coming!" the man said as the crowd cheered. "Today i'm going to do something special," he continued. "As you know I am a skilled reader, I can read people as easily as one reads a book, but not only that but I can see what will happen to you and let you know if it's good or bad, I don't ask for money I only want to show what I can do and amaze your curious minds. Any volunteers?" the man searched the crowd and when no one said anything, his eyes landed on Ezra who was standing and watching the entire thing. Ezra hesitated, something about that man he could sense was bad news. Ezra turned away, trying his best not to be noticed, however, that didn't exactly turn out like he planned. "You there! The kid with the leather jacket!" Ezra slowly turned around to face the guy. "Come down here, thank you so much for volunteering!" everyone clapped for him, Ezra's face turned bright red as he made his way downstairs and onto the stage. The man had him sit down and shuffled some cards together.
"Sir," Ezra said. "I don't think that this will work."
"Nonsense," the man said. "We're just doing a little reading that's all," The man continued to shuffle the cards as three fell out and onto the table. Ezra remained absolutely still as the man flipped over the cards, one was of a creature, probably a devil, the second was a tower burning and the third was of death. "That's strange," the man said thoughtfully. "Let me do one more shuffle," the man shuffled once more, and a card fell out. The minute the man flipped it over he realized it was a box. The minute that Ezra noticed what all four of the cards were saying he got worried. "This isn't good, young man you must be careful because what your going to experience is happening soon."
"What i'm going to experience? What do you mean?" Ezra asked trying to pu the words together.
"I cannot say, all I know is what the cards are saying." Ezra's phone rang and he pulled it out noticing that it was his mother. Thanking the gentleman he walked away from the table despite feeling creeped out.
