The rest of the school day went by as usual and finally it was time to go home. Peter slammed his locker shut and started walking home, honestly hoping to see Evangeline on the way. He didn't, though, and soon he reached Aunt May's apartment. Just like every other day, Aunt May greeted him at the door.

"Petey! Your home! How was school, dear?" Aunt May asked as she hugged him tightly and ushered him further inside.

"It was school," he shrugged," so nothing much happened. But we did get a new student. Her name is Evangeline Elmn and she's from Paris." He smiled, but from slightly when he saw Aunt May's hopeful face.

"I... have homework. I'm gonna go do that now." He left probably faster than he should've to be normal. He just had to get away from her before she could start talking about setting up hang out dates. She's been trying to get his mind off of Gwen for a while now, claiming it was 'unhealthy' for him to stay in his room.

Once in the safety of his room, Peter sat on his bed and sighed in relief. Finally. Now, maybe he could relax a little. Wait, no he couldn't. He missed a lecture today. Maybe he could call up Gwen and have her-

"Gwen's gone..." Peter whispered to himself. It felt like a brick had hit him in the face. It always felt like that. Sometimes, he feared that the brick would smash him in the face one too many times and he'd be gone. At least then he'd be with Gwen.

After a few minutes, he was snapped out of this thoughts by a scream. Multiple screams, actually. Peter dashed to his window, his backpack still hanging on his shoulders. There was a gruesome sight outside his window. A woman, at least he thought it was a woman, had fallen off the roof of a nearby building. It was a tall building, making the body unrecognizable. Peter turned away from the window, just as the first responders were starting to arrive. He couldn't save that woman, just like he couldn't save Gwen. Peter knew it was unfair to blame himself for the woman's death, but he still did.
