Chapter 39- Blake's POV
I looked at my phone and bit back a tired sigh, wishing that I could text Bay and see how she was doing as well as the kids. My heart ached and became filled with pain and sadness. I moved a hand through my hair and across my face while I waited for dinner to happen.
"Hey, Blake?" Sky asked, and I looked that way to see her and saw that she had a small frown on her face, furrowing her brows. Sadness and pain filled her eyes, and I could tell that she did not like being away from her best friend and my girlfriend. "When are we going to Bay's house?"
"Tonight," I said and offered her a tight smile while I tucked my head closer to my chest. "We will be going to her house tonight, and we will be eating some of the amazing food that she has cooked for us."
"Can we sleep over?" she asked and cocked her head to the side while she studied me. "Or do you think Mama will not allow us to do that?"
My heart grew heavy and sunk into the pit of my stomach while I offered her a tight smile. "I don't think she will allow us to do that," I said and shook my head. "I think she will want us to go back home and not stay there."
"But why not?" Sky asked. She frowned and furrowed her brows while she stared at me. "Mama and Daddy aren't normally home, and Bailey and Trevor help us with everything."
I bit back a tired sigh and slowly nodded in confirmation while I moved a hand through my hair. "I know," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. "I wish I could tell you that we will be able to keep up with what we have been doing, but I don't think that is going to happen."
"Does that mean Daddy is going to come back, too?" Sky asked, and I shrugged and grimaced, pressing my lips into a thinner line. She frowned and slowly nodded while she furrowed her brows. "I want him to come back, too, if Mommy is coming back home to live with us."
My heart grew heavy, and I couldn't help but shrug and grimace. "I do not know, Sky," I said and shook my head before I cleared my throat while I shifted. "I don't even know if Mom is going to be staying long or going off on another business trip soon."
"I will be staying here for some time, Blake," someone said behind us, and we turned that way to see that my mother had a small scowl on her face and narrowed eyes. "I want to make sure that you two are behaving yourselves and not doing anything that you are not supposed to do."
I held back an eye roll and set my jaw, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Being with Bailey is not something that you should be worried about, Mom," I said coldly. "She has been helping me, and I have gotten my grades up because of her."
"Oh really now?" my mother asked and raised an eyebrow in question. She cocked her head to the side while she studied me, and I nodded in confirmation. "And how are you doing now?"
"I have gotten all of my grades up to As and Bs, and I have actually been doing my schoolwork and homework on time," I said and shrugged with a small grimace. "I don't know why you want me to stay away from her. Trevor also knows her, and he knows her well."
"And how long has he known her?" she asked before she cocked her head to the side while she studied me. A small frown appeared on her face, and she looked annoyed that Trevor knew her.
"Since birth," I replied and shifted in my seat, pressing my lips into a thin line and licking my lips. "Her parents and his parents had been friends since high school and probably earlier than that."
"Hmph." She didn't look like she believed me, and a small frown appeared on her face. She didn't say a word, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scowl, pressing my lips into a thin line, getting annoyed.
"You haven't even met her yet, so why are you acting like this, Mom?" I asked and cocked my head to the side while I studied her. I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes while I stared at her. "Is there something wrong with her?"
"She has kids," she said, and Sky and I looked at each other before we looked at her, looking very confused. "Is that correct?"
"Yes, b-"
"And how old is she?" Mom asked, interrupting me. She raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me, and I held back an eye roll because I had no idea why this was going on.
"Eighteen, bu-"
"And how many kids does she have under her care?"
"Why are you asking me these questions?" I asked, not answering her question but asking her one of my own. I furrowed my brows and frowned, pressing my lips into a thinner line. I was confused and a bit annoyed while I studied her because I had no idea why she was doing this to us. "Where are you going with this, Mom?"
My mother bit back an annoyed sigh and shook her head."Just answer the question, Blake," she said and narrowed her eyes while she scowled. "How many kids does she have under her care?"
I bit back an annoyed sigh and rubbed the bridge of my nose while I shook my head and pursed my lips in annoyance. "Four," I replied. "She has four kids that are under her care."
"And how old are they?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
"The oldest is ten-years-old, and the youngest is four-years-old," I replied. "She is the same age as Sky and is her best friend." I gestured toward Sky, and Sky waved and bit back a small smile.
"And who is the dad?" Mom asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me with a frown on her face.
I shrugged and grimaced because I had no idea who their fathers were or if they had the same father or not. "I do not know who they are."
"So she is a whore."
I paused and looked at her, confused. I was shocked and surprised that my mother called her a whore when Bailey was nothing like a whore, and I had no idea if she had ever had sex before. "What?" I asked and cocked my head to the side while I studied her. "What did you say?"
"What's a whore?" Skylar asked, confused. She frowned and furrowed her brows while she looked between the two of us. "And how is Bailey a whore?"
"Something that you will not be," Mom said and looked at her. She scowled and narrowed her eyes while she stared at her. "You are not going to go sleeping around with boys you do not know and get knocked up."
"But Bailey only sleeps with Trevor and Blake," she said, confused, and I had to stop myself from smacking my head because I knew that she did not know what my mother meant, even though I did. "How is that a whore?"
"We have slept in the same house, and we do not sleep in the same bed, Mom," I said, interrupting Mom from saying something to me with a look of anger on her face. I bit back a tired sigh and shook my head while I looked at Sky. "And Mom is talking about people kissing each other while getting naked."
Sky frowned and furrowed her brows, shaking her head. "But you don't do that, Blake," she said and shook her head. "You two haven't even kissed each other yet, even though I want you to kiss her." She pouted and smacked her hand on the couch. "I thought you liked her."
"He is not kissing her," Mom said and snapped. "She is a whore, and I do not want him kissing her or being near her at all. I do not want her to be any part of my family at all because she is a disgusting bitch because she had kids at such a young age."
A shiver went down my spine, and I stared at her with a look of shock and surprise. "Mom, she is a virgin," I said and shook my head, and slowly my shock and surprise turned to anger. "She doesn't have any kids that came from her body. She's adopted them."
"Why?" my mother asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she looked at me. She scowled and narrowed her eyes, and I could tell that she didn't like the idea that Bay adopted the kids.
"Because she is a better person than you," I snapped, and a look of shock and amazement appeared on her face. I stood and shook my head, deciding that I didn't want to be in the same room as her because of what she had called Bailey and had implied about her character. "She is understanding and kind, and I am going to go back over there because I want to be near her and not you."
"Excuse me?" Mom asked. "What did you say?"
"I am going back over there, and I do not want to stay a minute in this house ever again because if I do, then I am going to do something that I will regret." I started to walk to the door.
"And if you leave this house, then you will never be welcomed back!" Mom exclaimed. "You are not taking your car, is that understood?"
"That's fine," I said and nodded, and my heart ached because I knew that it meant I was leaving Sky behind. "I didn't need the car anyway."
"And leave your phone."
I did what I was told to do and tossed my phone on the table, pressing my lips into a thinner line.
"Wait, what about me?" Sky asked and stood from the couch. She started to walk over to me, but Mom wouldn't let her get too far. "Don't leave me, Blake," she said. "I want to go with you. I don't want to stay here."
I stopped and looked at her, and my heart became filled with pain and sadness. I bit back a small smile and shook my head, trying but failing to keep the pain off of my face. "I'm sorry, Kiddo," I said and took another step back while my heart raced and pounded hard and fast in my chest. "You aren't eighteen. I legally can't take you with me."
"Bu-"
"I'm sorry," I said, interrupting her while I shook my head. "I will do what I can to get you out of Mom's care, but that is all I can promise." I turned around and started to walk toward the door again, and my mother scowled and narrowed her eyes without saying a word.
Skylar started to try and get away from our mother. "No! Blake!" she yelled while she reached out toward me. "No!"
I didn't turn back around to look at her, and my heart broke into a million pieces while my sister struggled against our mother to get away from her.
"No! Blake!" she yelled and continued to struggle to get away from her. "Please! No! Don't leave me!"
I didn't say a word and continued to walk away from her, deciding that when I got to Bailey's house, I was going to get her help to get Sky away from our parents, especially since I knew that my mother wasn't fit to be a mother.
Hold on, Sky, I silently said, biting the inside of my lip and tucking my head closer to my chest while tears started to prick the corner of my eyes. Please, because as soon as I get you away from her, I will never let you go again.
I promise...
