Chapter 33- Bailey's POV
I stayed rooted in my spot and looked where Blake had gone in stunned silence with my heart breaking just a bit because a part of me had wanted him to kiss me, but a part of me was grateful that he didn't.
"Well, that was interesting," Trevor said after he cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "It looks like he does care about you a lot, Bay."
"Un huh," I said, not able to speak or move while I kept looking at the way that he had left. My heart pounded hard and fast in my chest, and my cheeks were a different shade of red.
"Bay?" Trevor asked, becoming very amused with the way that I was acting. He cocked his head while he studied me, biting back a small laugh. "Are you ok?"
"Un huh," I said, even though I wasn't sure if I was ok or not because I was still stunned and didn't even know what was going on between me and him.
"I don't think you are," Trevor said, amused. He cleared his throat to hide another chuckle and shifted in his seat while he stared at me. "I think you are stunned in silence and are in shock because of what Blake had done."
"Un huh," I replied, and Trevor bit back a small snort and rolled his eyes while he scowled. I didn't look at him and continued to stare at the door, and a part of me wanted Blake to come back through and give me a kiss.
Trevor sighed and shook his head while he stood. He walked over to me and poked my arm, and I didn't do anything to him like I would if I wasn't stunned. "Jesus, he left you speechless," he said and poked my arm again before he waved his hand in front of my face. "You are dead to the world."
"Un huh," was my response, and he laughed and shook his head.
"I wonder what would happen if he actually kissed you, Bay," he said and patted my head, and I didn't move and whack him like I would have because I did not like him patting my head. "Come on, let's go ahead and see what the kids are doing. You said that you wanted to get started on stuff, right?" He raised an eyebrow in question.
"Un huh," I replied but didn't move from my spot to do what he wanted me to do.
Trevor sighed and shook his head before he cleared his throat to hide a chuckle. "Hey, Kids," he called out, lifting his head just a tad and turning it to the side so that his voice would carry. "Can you come up here for a second, please?"
"Coming!" a few of the kids yelled back and started to run up the steps like a herd of elephants, even though I could care less. They filed into the kitchen and looked between Trevor and I with a small frown on their faces when they saw that I wasn't looking at them and still staring at the door.
"What happened?" Ryan asked, becoming very protective of me, even though he didn't need to be. "What's wrong with Bailey?"
"Blake kissed her cheek," Trevor replied with a small chuckle in his voice, "and now she is just stunned and standing there." He gestured to me, and Ryan looked at me again before he looked at Trevor with a small frown on his face.
"What is she saying?" Michael asked with an "evil" grin on his face. He rubbed his hands together while he looked at Trevor. "Or is she saying anything at all."
"She isn't really saying anything," Trevor said with a shake of his head. "All she is saying is "uh huh" and staring out into the void."
"But she is ok, right?" Ryan asked, and Trevor bit back a small snort and nodded.
"Oh, she is fine. She just needs to wake up and get started with what she needs to do," he said. "But you might be able to get some stuff out of her if you ask her some questions." He flashed Michael a small smirk and a wink.
"Yes," Michael cheered before he looked at me. "Can I g-"
"But make sure that it is reasonable," Trevor said, interrupting him, and Michael looked at him with wide eyes and a small scowl on his face. "Do not ask for a puppy or anything like that ok."
Michael scowled and narrowed his eyes. He folded his arms across his chest while he tapped his finger against his other arm. He didn't say a word while he looked between the two of us before he looked at me.
"So, if I ask for a dollar, then she will give me a dollar?" Mimi asked while she raised an eyebrow in question. She cocked her head before she turned her attention back to me and then looked at Trevor.
"I don't know if you will be able to get that or not," he said with a shake of his head. "You have to make sure that you do something for that dollar. Food on the other hand..." He looked at Michael and raised both eyebrows in unison while he smirked.
Michael's eyes grew brighter, and he instantly looked at me. "Can I have some chips on top of the fridge?" he asked.
"Un huh," I said and nodded.
"Yes!" Michael cheered and jumped up in such a way that startled me out of my thoughts and feelings. He started to run to the fridge where I had placed the chips to make sure that the kids couldn't get to it.
"Uh, what are you doing?" I asked and watched as my "son" started to climb up the fridge. "Michael, stop," I said. I scowled and narrowed my eyes while I looked at him, folding my arms across my chest. "Get down from the top of the fridge."
Michael looked at me from the top of the fridge and stared at me with wide eyes. He grabbed the chip bag from the far back before he slowly started to pull it toward him.
"Michael," I warned while I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes. I took a threatening step toward him, and he instantly pushed the chips toward where they needed to be and was off the fridge in a matter of seconds.
"There you go," he said, looking at Trevor with another impish grin on his face. "You have a now fully functioning Bailey, who is ready for whatever."
I frowned and narrowed my eyes further while I looked between the two of them. "What are you talking about?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I looked at Trevor. "What happened?"
"You were too stunned to speak," Trevor said with a small laugh in his voice before he shook his head, "and you were dazed, not able to do or say anything."
I cocked my head while I stared at him, mildly impressed and confused. "What do you mean?" I asked and cocked my head further to the side, frowning. "Why are you saying that I was too dazed to not do or say anything."
"Because you weren't," Trevor said and shook his head. "You were standing there and looking shocked about Blake kissing your cheek. Nothing I said or did seemed to work so that was why I called the kids up here."
I scowled and narrowed my eyes while I placed my hands on my hips. "And what did you do to me?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Trevor grinned and shook his head.
"Nothing really," he said before he cleared his throat and grew serious. "All I did was wave my hand in front of your face and told the kids to come upstairs. You don't need to look at me like that."
I didn't say a word and kept looking at him with a blank look on my face. I partially believed him when he said that he didn't do anything to me, but that didn't mean I trusted him. I knew that he loved to play pranks just as much as I loved to.
Trevor sighed and shook his head with a small smile on his face. "I promise," he said and cleared his throat to hide a chuckle. "I did not do anything to you, Bay. I would do that, but I didn't do it now, especially since Blake stunned you by kissing your cheek and not your lips."
I bit back a small sigh and slowly nodded, rubbing the back of my neck while I grimaced. "Ya," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "I was stunned because I didn't expect him to do that."
"What did you think he was going to do?" Ryan asked and cocked his head while he studied me with a small teasing smile on his face. "Did you think that he was going to kiss you on your lips?"
I bit back a small laugh and nodded. "Yes," I confirmed before I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet some more. "I thought that he was going to kiss me on my lips."
"And are you happy that he didn't?" he asked. "Or are you mad?"
I shrugged and grimaced, my cheeks turning another shade of red. "I don't know," I said, even though a part of me was hurt that he hadn't kissed me on the lips. "What I do know is that we should go ahead and get some stuff done before school tomorrow. Ok? We have a lot of work that needs to get done and probably need to go shopping for other stuff."
"And will we pick up some food while we are doing everything?" Michael asked.
I bit back a small laugh and nodded. "Ya," I said, clearing my throat to hide a small chuckle. "We can pick up food when we get everything else done."
"Yes!" Michael exclaimed with a small cheer. "Then let's go and get everything done."
And with that, he raced off to get started, and I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head before I followed him, and the rest followed me.
And with that, we started to get everything done and get ready for Monday, not knowing what the future held but not caring as we started this new chapter of our life together in a place that I hoped would become their home just as much as it was mine.
