Chapter -32/Epilogue
Hello Fam :)
A/N: - As the name says, we have reached the end. There's a slash because if I am getting any new ideas, I would include them but for now, I am finishing it now. It's not sudden because I have already mentioned it a few chapters before.
Also, when we talked, I told people they would hate me after this chapter. And many people said, no they wouldn't. Have you changed your opinions? :P
2. I wrote the last part in a hurry and didn't even read for a second time because I wanted to update this today. There is a surprise for you in between. I 'apologize' for any mistakes. If you find any, feel free to comment. I would correct it later. I came from lab at 9pm and without any break during lunch so, right now all my muscles are aching. (We had a protest yesterday inside the campus. So, it's been 2-3 days since I had slept properly. :P)
Warning: As I said earlier, I can't write kids and anything regular but since it's an epilogue, I wanted to write something different. Hence, the writer decided to pull a Deadpool. Have fun reading. :P
Happy Reading...
It was Sunday and Nandini was working from home when Canir barged inside the room. He sat beside her, pulled her laptop away, and kept it away from her before grabbing her hands into his, staring at her with wide emotional eyes. "Nandini, where is Manik?"
Overdramatic idiot. Nandini rolled her eyes, freeing her hands and pulling her laptop back to her. "He went on a date. If you don't have any other work, find someone else to torture. I have loads of work to do."
Cabir gasped. "Your husband went on a date and you are cool about it? What the hell, Nandini?"
"He went with Navya. Why are you overreacting?", she told, without taking her eyes from her screen. She had to complete the work but she needed some peace of mind for that to happen and looking at the direction their conversation was going, she doubted it would be successful.
"Navya went on a date with Manik? Why didn't she tell me?", he screamed.
Nandini shrugged. "I don't know, Cabir. Maybe she needs to get away from you for a little while. Manik can be therapeutic."
"Are you saying I am a trauma?"
"I never said that."
"You meant that", said the younger twin, pointing an accusing finger in her direction. "You know what, forget it. Get ready. I am taking you out on a date."
Nandini sighed. "Whatever shuts you up", she muttered because how was it even possible for him to let people live in peace when he decided something.

Even though Cabir was blabbering something, he wasn't making any sense. The boy was jumping from one topic to another. Nandini felt he was avoiding the one thing that's bothering him.
"Cabir, what's wrong?"
"What?"
"You are not being you. What happened?", she asked.
"I am fine, Nandini."
"Yeah, right", she muttered and shuffled her brain for any possievery timen. "Is it Navya? Fighting again?"
"No", he said, eagerly. "She is leaving for Paris this week."
"Okay", muttered Nandini. She talked to Navya and since the girl didn't have any assignments in India, she wanted to leave. "Cabir, do you want to marry Navya?"
"Of course but-"
"But?"
"But how can I? We have never talked about it. Even if we are getting married, I can't stay in Paris and I don't think she would want to leave Paris. Her parents are there and her job."
Nandini rolled her eyes. "Try asking her before assuming her plans for the future", she commented. "As far as I know, you have been in long-distance for six years, if you decide to get married, I don't think it's impossible to manage."
"Do you think she would say yes? If I ask her?"
The vulnerability in his voice tugged at her heart and she ruffled his hair. "If I am not wrong, she would jump about it. Stop undermining yourself, Cabir. As much as it hurts to say this to you but she is lucky to have you in her life as much as you are for having her presence in yours."
She chuckled at the grin that spread on his face.

"This looks fancy", said Nandini. "Do we need to reserve beforehand?"
Cabir wrapped his hands around her arm like an eager child. "What are you talking about, Nandini? We have a reservation.", he said.
"What? But I thought this was an instant plan."
"You ask too many questions. The owner is my friend. He would take care of it", said Cabir.
"Cabir, baby, don't you think all your friends include restaurant owners? Manik took me once to a place saying the owner is your friend."
The idiot smirked in return. "It's called strategic planning for the future."
"I don't believe you even one percent", she muttered but followed him. As said, his friend was waiting for him and came to them. It was followed by their whispering conversation and then Cabir smirked. It confirmed her suspicions that he had some plan and she was proven right when they bumped into her husband and Navya at the corner of the restaurant.
"Hello, guys", said Cabir, waving dramatically at the two. "Fancy seeing you here. By the way, meet my date, Nandini Malhotra."
"I am sure this isn't a coincidence", muttered Nandini.
Navya, on the other hand, glared at Cabir. "Cabir, are you crashing my date?"
The boy shrugged. "No, love. We are two independent people who happened to end up at the same restaurant. Because we both know each other, now we are on a double date."
Nandini rolled her eyes before sliding beside Manik and kissed his cheek casually. It brought a smile to his face. "I can't believe you are jealous of my husband and your girlfriend."
Cabir pouted until Navya shifted to make space for him. He grabbed a french fry from her plate and she slapped his hand away.
"Don't take my food. Cabir, are you seriously jealous?"
Cabir glared at Nandini before throwing his arm around her. "Of course, not, baby. Are you accusing me?", he said before glaring at Nandini some more when Manik pushed his plate towards her. "Nandini Malhotra, I am not jealous of my Bhai and my love. I am jealous of the fun they are having without us. Aren't you offended that your husband is having fun without you?"
She shrugged, popping another fry in her mouth. "I am his wife. Not the air he breathes."
"Might as well be", muttered Manik.
"What?", said Nandini, fighting through a smile. Manik blushed realizing he had said that loud enough for everyone to hear. Navya was grinning openly at the two of them and Cabir pinched the bridge of his nose.
"You have corrupted my brother completely", he said, accusingly.
XXX
They finished their lunch and went out when a bunch of girls approached them, squealing and chanting Manik's name.
"Do you know them?", whispered Nandini.
"I swear, I don't know them", he told.
She glanced at Cabir to check if this was another plan of his but found the younger twin equally confused.
"Of course, you wouldn't know us, Manik. We are your fans", said one of them.
"Fans?", asked Manik bewildered. "But I am not a celebrity."
"Hayee, you are the sweetest and the best one ever", said a girl and she was making heart eyes at Manik.
Nandini wanted to be jealous but since it was making Manik blush and he was moments short of squirming at his place, she smirked.
The first girl elbowed the other. "I 'apologize' for her behavior, Nandini", she said, making her laugh openly. "I am Garima and the girl totally smitten by Manik is Swanthana. By the way, today is her birthday."
"Happy birthday, Swanthana", said Cabir. "Where's the party?"
"Cabir, you just had your lunch", scolded Navya. "I am sorry. Happy birthday, Swanthana."
"Thank you, guys. Can I get a wish from my favorite couple, please?", said the birthday girl.
"You know us?", asked Manik.
Nandini grabbed his hand to gain his attention. "Of course, they know us, Manik. Wish her? Happy birthday, Swanthana."
"Yeah, apologies. Happy birthday, Swanthana", said Manik, finally. "May you have all the happiness in the world."
"God, I wish I could marry you", she told. "I would even read books with you."
"I really appreciate you reading books but I apologize. I have Nandini and I am married to her forever."
"Yeah, yeah. We all know your story", interrupted Garima. "Nandini, you are the strongest of all. It is not easy to endure everything that all happened to you. No one can break you. Always shine on my girl! I look forward to you everytime I read a new chapter. And ho sake to please ittu sa Manikshare krlo hamare sath."
"Read a chapter?", asked Nandini.
"Oh, I am sorry. We read Wattpad. Several people write fiction about you. Actually, we all became friends through that only. So, we are forever grateful for you."
"That's so sweet", said Manik.
"Manik, I don't even have words for you", said Garima. "Everyone says nobody is perfect but whenever I try to find some flaw in you, I end up finding something new about you. You are truly god's child. I am sure this Manik would have irritated us if in any other book but here for your every movement there is a perfect justification and that makes you beautiful. I wish someday I could find a guy who can compete with you."
Until then whoever was standing silently behind, jumped in. "Hi, I am Riya. I have never met anyone like you, Manik. So, unique and so innocent like a baby. But strong and supportive and understanding in your own way. I have seen all your interviews. And Nandini, you are the strongest character I have ever met. You were strong even while you were the most vulnerable. Even with those sorry excuses of parents, you had to live with for years but you never let them affect you. Never forgot what your grandparents taught you. I guess you have taught yourself the difference between what's right and wrong but have you grown yourself to be the finest woman I have known. You are the sweetest to the good and the devil to the bad. Never change yourself."
"You are the sweetest", said Manik and wrapped an arm around Nandini.
Her parents were a touchy subject and of course, who would know it better than her best guy who would hold her hand and pull her out of any darkness that would threaten to touch her.
The girl beside her looked at them with a smile on her face. "Manik, you really are a gem just like your name because any number of words would be insufficient. You are adorable and Nandini, you are the strongest. I am Purnima and actually, I am married to the love of my life who reminds me of you, Manik. So, I guess, I can say I am lucky I got my Manik Malhotra."
Manik chuckled, getting comfortable with the idea of someone loving their husband as much as he loved his Nandini. "I am not that great but I am damn sure he is the best. I am glad you found him or maybe, he feels lucky to have you too."
"Ever the sweetest, aren't you?", teased Purnima.
The boy ducked his head.
"Hey, Manik, Dhatri here", said a girl, waving at him widely. "You are a sweetheart. I don't even think you have a hater and even if you do, please please send them to a mental asylum. You are the cutest and the goofiest person ever and so pure-hearted and soulful. Trust me, no one could resist you or help themselves from falling for you. And Nandini, wow, you are an inspiration for us. The way you handle things, maturity, OMG. And I even love your bond with Cabir."
Cabir, who was waiting for his chance to speak up, grinned at the girl. "Actually, Dhatri, you love our bond because I am lovable. Because if it's in her control, she would keep on punching me till now."
"I am ignoring you for the time being", said a girl, introducing herself as Lavanya. Cabir pouted but she royally ignored him following her words. "Hey, Manan, generally, we think the boy should be strong and the girl as innocent but you two are so opposite but beautiful in your own way. Nandini, you are the strongest, and Manik, oh god, is there anyone as pure-hearted as you?"
"Of course, not", teased Nandini which earned her a half-hearted glare from Manik.
Lavanya laughed. "Actually, you both taught me so much. And you know what? If I have a partner ever in my life, I would respect their feelings. I would come back to you to learn how to handle any situation if I am ever stuck somewhere."
"Actually, she is telling the truth. I am Kira. And I have realized how important it is to know and respect each other's opinions in a relationship. You taught us that it's one of the ways to show your love and respect towards each other. Actually, when I would have a partner, I would search for someone with whom I would have at least one percent of the love you both share with each other."
"I am damn sure you would get a hundred percent", said Manik.
"Hey, Manik and Nandini. I am Zainab. I just want to say that you both balance each other perfectly. Manik, you are sweet and shy but 'yes' to everything one searches for in a partner. It amazes me knowing the extent to which a person could help and be polite. The way you are sensitive and are the whole opposite to the 'mard ko dard nahi hota' fantasy is so rare. We love you more because you put wear your heart on your sleeve and are never afraid of showing it to the world. And then, of course, the way you are proud of Nandini. Maybe, that's why it feels as if you are soulmates and your relationship has nothing to do with materialistic needs. You both took your time to understand, grow and learn and support each other, it makes me believe that nothing is perfect but there is beauty in your imperfections too. It makes me want to celebrate every little thing in life and cherish the friendship and family I have and feel gratitude towards them."
"Of course, family is the best", said Manik, ignoring everything else.
Everyone rolled their eyes knowing he doesn't do too well with compliments.
"Can we have a selfie, please?", said, someone.
"Sure", he muttered. Once done, he thanked everyone one but Purnima switched on the video towards him.
"Hey, Manik. One of our friends loves you so much but she couldn't come here because she is out of town for giving an exam. Could you please send your wishes to her? Her name is Aditi."
"Of course. Hey, Aditi. I am so proud of you for working so hard. I am sure you will crack your exams and excel in your life. I will pray that you will get admission to your dream college", said Manik.
"We all would pray", told Nandini, before the video went out. "Thank you, girls. We really are so grateful for all the love. Trust me, it made our day. And even if my husband will be a blushing mess within a minute, he is grateful for all the love too."
"We love you, Nandini", they all screamed together. "We love you, Manik. And of course, Cabir and Navya too."
"Finally. Try to bring some sweets next time. Or cakes."
"Or common sense", interrupted Navya. "If you could find one in the market."
XXX
Once they freed themselves from the crowd, Cabir took Navya to meet some of her friends leaving Nandini and Manik alone. "Do you have anything important to do at home?", asked Manik.
She does. Cabir interrupted her work to bring her to his 'date'. "What if I am free?", she said instead.
"I want to take you somewhere", he told.
She entwined their fingers. "Go ahead, Malhotra. I will follow you any day."
Manik blushed with a roll of his eye before going towards his car.
Half an hour later, they were in front of their college. "Manik? College?"
"It has been years since we came back here", he told.
Nandini nodded and followed him. They went to their classrooms and canteen. It didn't take them long before they found themselves in front of their cabin. Surprisingly there was a notebook there. Nandini picked it up and realized someone had discovered the cabin after them.
"Looks like you got your heir", teased Manik.
She grinned. This has been her safe space all throughout her college and it feels good knowing someone was sharing her sense of adventure. "Do you have a pen?", she asked, settling down with the book. Taking the pen, she wrote a message to the student, if they come back for the book tomorrow. When she glanced up at Manik, she found him thinking about something. "What's up, husband? Still thinking about your fan following?"
Manik frowned. "Nandini, we aren't ever talking about that incident."
She rolled her eyes. "They love you."
"They were exaggerating."
"No, they aren't. You are a good person, Manik. And people acknowledge good things", she told and let it sink in his head.
"It's just that", he said with a pause, "I am just being a sensible human. And why am I being appreciated for that."
She chuckled. "Because, my love, common sense is scarce and so are sensible humans."
Manik sighed before giving up. They sat there for some time before he started fiddling his fingers.
"Do you have something to talk about?", asked Nandini.
"Nandini, it's the festival season", he said.
"Yes, Manik. Do you want to go shopping?"
"I have enough", he muttered. "Actually, we give a bonus to every employee at Malhotra Industries every year. I was thinking since Murthy Industries is a family, why don't I extend the plan to them too."
"No, Manik", she told with a frown. "You have already done enough for us. I don't know how can I everwasay you."
"Nandini, you are my wife. Your responsibilities are my responsibilities too."
"Manik, people promise every time and you keep your promises. I know that, trust me. But this bonus would be too much. Let me pay you back and let the financial condition be stable, I would give them a bonus irrespective of any occasion."
Manik sighed and entwined their fingers. "Nandini, the financial condition of Murthy Industries is picking up. I am sure you would stabilize the company within the next six months. But let me do it, please? I don't feel right when we are giving to people at Malhotra Industries but not at Murthy. They deserve to celebrate their festivals too, right?"
"You are sensible and it gets difficult to argue with you", she muttered. "But it feels like I am adding burden to you."
Instead of arguing, Manik kissed her cheek, taking her by surprise. "Don't worry, Mrs. Malhotra. You can help me back when Malhotra Industries goes bankrupt."
Nandini snorted. "Yeah, because Malhotra Industries going bankrupt is very believable."
He shrugged. "Who knows, Nandini? I might buy Barnes & Noble around the globe. Cabir might buy all the National parks and wildlife sanctuaries across the world."
Nandini rolled her eyes. "Interesting ways to take over the world, Malhotra."
"Actually, I can rename Barnes & Noble as Nandini and you can come for the opening."
"And make a nerd out of me? No, thank you."

When they went home, Nyonika was holding Navya's arm from one side and Cabir from the other side while the mother-son duo were glaring at each other.
"I am damn sure Navya is stuck between their drama unwillingly", muttered Manik. "I need to save her."
Nandini chuckled before following Manik in. "Guys, what's going on?"
"Bhai, mom wants Navya to marry someone else", said Cabir, leaving Navya's side and coming to Manik in an instant.
"No, baby. Why would Navya marry someone else?", asked Manik.
Nandini rolled her eyes and took Cabir's place. "You know what, Manik? I think Navya should actually marry someone who is sensible and who would respect her. She shouldn't live with a fear where she doesn't know when her boyfriend would break up with her after six years just because he is not man enough to talk it out like a matured person."
Cabir gaped at her and in a really dramatic way, Nyonika wiped the invisible tears from her eyes and patted Nandini on her head. "I was always sure that Malhotra women are smarter than men but today, you proved me, Nandini."
"What?", asked Cabir.
"Actually, kid, Nandini has a point", said Manik, finally breaking his baby brother's heart.
"Bhai", he whined.
"Kid, because of what you did on that day, Navya had suffered for days", said Manik and wrapped an arm around him. "Baby, how would she trust you if you are jumping from decisions? I had told you already long back, be sure about having Navya in your life and I would fight with mom for you."
Nandini was surprised but Nyonika was even more surprised. "Manik, you said, you would fight with me?", asked the older lady.
"Mom, just a second. Cabir, baby, trust is important in a relationship, and more important is your promise. Don't make promises you can't keep. And don't forget the ones you make. So, before complaining about mom, decide whether you want Navya in your life or not. Don't keep her hanging."
Nandini adored her husband. There was no other word because he follows every word he told to Cabir. She waited for the younger twin to answer and was confused when he asked for a moment and dragged her aside.
"Nandini, why is Manik so serious?"
She rolled her eyes. "Because he has a point. Navya went through the pain of heartbreak because of your stupidity. And you should be answerable to that."
"I know. After you told me, I sneaked away for some time and bought this today", he told and showed a box to her.
"Is that a ring?", whisper-yelled Nandini.
"Yes. I wanted to give her that as a sorry, promise and a question if she would marry me. But Bhai wants the answer now. I haven't prepared anything", he said.
Nandini chuckled. Who knows the self-appointed cupid in her love story was fretting over his love. "Listen, Cabir, when you don't prepare, your words come from the heart. And what better way to show your girl that you are serious than proposing to her in front of your family?"
"But?"
"No buts", she said, interrupting him and dragged him by her hand.
After going towards the others, she went to stand beside Manik and waited for Cabir to speak up. The boy sighed, took a deep breath, and went down on one knee.
"Navya, I don't know why we met but I know from the day you have come into my life, I have enjoyed every moment with you. We have faced animals, harsh climates but with you and the way you deal with life, it feels so easy. You never left me ever even I am insensitive and stupid and I want to promise you the same to you today. I want you to know that I wouldn't ever leave your side. I wouldn't ever lose you for my insecurities. I would cherish every moment I spend with you. I don't know if I could ask you this or not but I would be really happy if you would marry me. So, please marry me."
"And be a part of this family", added Nyonika with a glare towards her son. "Will you marry me should be the question, idiot. Not a statement. Ask properly. Otherwise, I would disown you and adopt Navya."
"Mom, if Navya agrees, I would still be in this house", told Cabir.
The lady smirked. "But then I could make you dance on my fingertips because Navya would be my daughter."
"If we are leaving them like this, they would start their own drama", whispered Nandini.
Manik chuckled and went to kneel beside Cabir before wrapping his arms around his brother, taking him in a side hug. "Navya, he had been in many relationships before but trust he was serious about only one person and that's you. I don't know if he ever makes an effort to have a decent conversation with you but when he is with me, half of the time he talks is about you except when he is planning some chaos. He makes mistakes, he takes wrong decisions, he hurts people without realizing but he would never willingly break your heart. Even if he does, I am damn sure you are the only one who could bring him back to his normal sane self. Please, give him a chance."
"But, Manik, I have a few comments", said Nandini, smirking at the younger twin. "Cabir's normal self is not sane. And not only Navya, but even I could also bring him back from his stupidity. I promise I am really capable of that."
The boy in question glared at Nandini. "I would rather have Navya than you to bring me back to my senses."
"Or me", said Nyonika.
"Or you", he said, agreeing and turned to Manik. "Bhai, I told you these two would be the death of me."
"They love you, kid. Concentrate on your love, first", said Manik.
Cabir pouted. "Navya, please marry me and save me from these two."
Navya finally nodded with a grin that threatened to split her face in two. Grinning, Cabir put the ring on her finger sealing the deal officially.
In a truly dramatic fashion, Nyonika yelled with a victory cry. "There will be a wedding in our home", she said, smirking at Nandini.
Nandini smirked in return. "And we will make my husband dance at that wedding."
"Yeah", yelled the lady. Because Cabir was happy, he joined the two.
"NO", screamed Manik before slumping down on the nearest chair.
A/N: Right now, I am going to sleep. Tomorrow, let's talk. About this book. About my future works. About everything else. Let's meet tomorrow here on Wattpad. Also, for those who might have missed this chapter's notifications, I will update this again tomorrow. Good night. ")
