Maverick driving his motorcycle down the road that is beside the airstrip before another motorcycle races up beside him as the driver pops a wheelie. Maverick smiles as he sees that it is Raven before they begin racing each other as an aircraft takes off on the runway beside them. Maverick pumps his fist in the air, out of excitement, causing Raven to laugh before they both speed up in an attempt to race the aircraft.

"During Korea, the Navy kill ratio was 12-to-1," Jester explains as he turns to face the Top Gun class, after playing a video on the big screen. "We shot down 12 of their jets for every one of ours. During Vietnam, the ratio fell to 3-to-1."

Raven looks around the class that has a few familiar faces. Iceman, an extremely cocky pilot, twirls a pen in his fingers while another pilot smokes a cigarette. Raven leans forward as she uses her pencil to tickle Goose's ear, causing him to slap his head.

"Our pilots became dependent upon missiles. They had lost some of their dogfighting skills."

Maverick and Matrix both hold back laughs as Goose turns to glare at Raven, who pretends to be listening to Jester.

"Now Top Gun was created to teach A.C.M. Air Combat Maneuvering. Dogfighting."

"This gives me a hard-on," Wolfman whispers as he leans over to Hollywood, who smirks as he leans over to Wolfman.

"Don't tease me," Hollywood says which causes Wolfman to quietly chuckle while Raven and Matrix share a look of disgust.

"By the end of Vietnam, that ratio was back up to 12-to-1," Jester continues to explain as he begins to pace in front of the class while Raven leans over to mess with Maverick's ear like she had with Goose. "Blinds, please."

The window blinds are opened to allow light into the room while Raven sits up straight in her seat as Maverick looks back in time to see the playful gleam in her eyes which causes him to get lost in her blue eyes.

Maverick didn't know when but something had changed between him and Raven. He also didn't know what exactly had changed, all he knew is that at some point he had stopped seeing Raven as just Goose's sister. Though he has no idea what to do with that information out of fear of Raven not feeling the same way.

"Now, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our commanding officer at Top Gun. The very first man to win the Top Gun trophy. You will not find a finer fighter pilot anywhere in the world. Commander Mike Metcalf. Callsign, Viper." Raven winks at Maverick before he turns his attention to Viper.

"Gentleman," Viper says as he walks to the front where Jester is before he catches sight of Raven and Matrix. "And ladies. You are the top one percent of all naval aviators." Viper turns to face the pilots. "The elite. The best of the best. We'll make you better."

Iceman as he continues twirling his pen, starts staring at Maverick. Raven rolls her eyes since she has never been able to stand Iceman, who is said to be the one of the best which made him a cocky asshole.

"You'll fly at least two combat missions a day, attend classes in between, and evaluations of your performance. Now, on each combat sequence, you're gonna meet a different challenge."

Iceman starts hitting his pen up against his ring, causing Maverick to look back at him before Iceman lightly smirks as he purposely hits the pen on his ring.

"Every encounter is gonna be much more difficult. We're gonna teach you to fly the F-14 right to the edge of the envelope, faster than you've ever flown before and more dangerous." Viper starts making his way to the back of the room. "Now, we don't make policy here, gentlemen. Elected officials, civilians do that."

Iceman smirks at Maverick, who had looked back to see where Viper was going. Maverick faces back to the front while Iceman diverts his gaze to Raven, giving her a friendly smile. Maverick looks back at Viper over his other shoulder which causes him to catch the friendly smile that Raven sends to Iceman, causing Maverick to glare.

"We are instruments of that policy. And although we're not at war, we must always act as though we are at war. The tip of the spear..." Viper continues his explanation as Raven flips Iceman off. "Best be sharp."

"What are you doing?" Goose asks as he leans over to Maverick, who had turned to face the front with a jealous pit in his stomach since he did not see Raven flipping Iceman off.

"I'm just wondering who's the best," Maverick answers Goose with a sly smirk.

"In case some of you wonder who the best is," Viper says as he stares at a plaque on the wall. "They're up here on this plaque on the wall. The best driver and his RIO from each class has his name on it." Viper starts walking back up to the front of the class. "And they have the option to come back here to be Top Gun instructors." Viper quickly turns to face Maverick, in an attempt to catch him off guard. "You think your name's gonna be on that plaque?"

"Yes, sir," Maverick answers him with a slight smirk, causing Iceman and his RIO, Slider, to quietly laugh.

"That's pretty arrogant considering the company you're in," Viper says as he looks around at the class.

"Yes, sir," Maverick says with a nod which causes Viper to nod, impressed.

"I like that in a pilot," Viper says with a slight smile before slightly pacing. "Just remember, when it's over out there, we're all on the same team. Gentlemen and ladies, this school is about combat. There are no points for second place." Maverick smirks. "Dismissed."

"Nice going," Goose tells Maverick as he stands up, knowing that Maverick just put a target on their backs.

"The plaque for the alternates is down in the ladies' room," Iceman taunts as Maverick and Goose walk past him, causing Goose to grab onto Maverick's shoulders while Raven leans against Goose as they both let out loud, sarcastic laughs.

"Oh, Jesus. Oh, you kill me. You really don't," Raven says sarcastically as Iceman stands up before she sends him a playful smirk.

"No, no, no, no. There's two O's in Goose, boys," Goose says as he walks over to the plaque, pointing at a name plate. Maverick quickly leaves the room as he sees Iceman send Raven a wink which causes her to smile before it turns to a frown as she notices Maverick leaving.
