"Cougar," Goose calls out as Cougar walks past him, Raven, Matrix, and Maverick, having been in Stinger's office.
"Thanks, Raven," Cougar says as he turns to look back at them before walking off, leaving behind a confused Raven, Matrix, Maverick, and Goose.

"Maverick, Goose, Raven, Matrix, come in here," Stinger calls from behind the closed office door.
"What the hell's going on?" Raven asks as she walks past Goose to enter the office.
"I don't know," Goose answers his sister as they prepare to enter the office.
"Shit," Maverick quietly says as they enter the office before standing at attention in front of Stinger's desk.

"Raven, you just did an incredibly brave thing," Stinger says as he flips through some papers before looking up at Raven. "What you should have done was land your plane. You don't own that plane, the taxpayers do." Raven attempts to stand a little straighter as she feels her cheeks tinge pink since all of the attention is on her before Stinger focuses on Maverick. "And Maverick, your ego is writing checks your body can't cash. You've been busted. You lost your qualifications as section leader, three times. Put in hack twice by me." Stinger looks down at the papers on his desk, which is a list of everything that Maverick has done. "With a history of high-speed passes over five air-control towers and one admiral's daughter."

"Penny Benjamin?" Goose asks in a whisper as he looks over at Maverick for conformation before Maverick shrugs with a shake of his head.

"Told you she was a bad idea," Matrix whispers to her brother, causing Raven to hold back a snort.

"And you, asshole," Stinger says as he focuses on Goose while he stands up before walking around the desk to stand behind the group. "You're lucky to be here."

"Thank you, sir," Goose quickly says as he stands back up straight while Stinger looks over at Maverick and Matrix.

"And let's not bullshit, Maverick, Matrix, your family's name ain't the best in the Navy," Stinger explains which causes Maverick to roll his eyes while Matrix tightens her fists to where she is white in the knuckles. "You both need to be doing it better and cleaner than the other guy." Stinger walks around Maverick to stand in front of him. "Now, what is it with you?"

"Just wanna serve my country, be the best fighter pilot in the Navy, sir," Maverick answers him honestly while Raven nods in agreement.

"Don't screw around with me, Maverick," Stinger says as he leans back against his desk. "You're a hell of an instinctive pilot. Maybe too good, just like Raven. I'd like to bust both of your butts, but I can't. I got another problem here." Stinger takes a puff from his cigar before he shakes his head. "I gotta send two pilots from this squadron to Miramar." Maverick tries to hold back a smile as Goose cuts his eyes over to look at Maverick while Raven and Matrix discreetly bump fists. "I gotta do something here. I still can't believe it. I gotta give you both your dream shots. I'm gonna send you both up against the best." Stinger looks over at Raven then back at Maverick. "You four characters are going to Top Gun." A smile starts to form on Goose's face as he glances over at his sister, who is holding back a smile. "For five weeks you're gonna fly against the best fighter pilots in the world." Stinger points at Maverick as he delivers the truth. "You were number two, Cougar was number one. Cougar lost it, turned in his wings." Stinger glances over at Goose again while shaking his head. "You guys are number one. And you two are number two." Stinger points at Raven and Matrix before he stands back up in front of Maverick. "But you remember one thing. You screw up just this much..." Stinger holds two of his fingers close together with barely any space between them. "You'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong."
"Yes, sir," Maverick replies with a nod to show that he understands.
"That is all," Stinger says as he glances between Raven, Matrix, Goose, and Maverick before walking back around his desk to sit down while Maverick and Goose start backing towards the door with Raven and Matrix behind them. "You can tell me about the MiG some other time." Maverick quickly opens the door with Goose right behind him. "Gentlemen and ladies." The four turn to look back at Stinger. "Good luck."
"Thank you, sir," Raven and Matrix both respond before leaving the office.

"We're going to Top Gun!!" Maverick exclaims as he picks Raven up in a hug, causing her to laugh as a blush forms on her cheeks.

Later that night, Maverick is looking out at the water from the lower deck when Matrix joins him.

"Can you promise me something?" Matrix asks as she leans her head on her brother's shoulder.

"Anything," Maverick answers easily because he would do anything for his little sister.

"Promise me that before we all finish Top Gun and end up getting stationed at different posts," Matrix explains as she and her brother both tense up at the thought of being stationed at different posts. "Promise that you will tell Raven how you feel about her before it's too late."
