(3rd POV)

Y/n and his party were currently sitting in then middle of the woods. They were joined by Naofumi and his party. All the girls were currently asleep leaving Y/n and Naofumi to talk.

Y/n: Naofumi I'm gonna be blunt about this, I want you to join me in my mission to destroy Melromarc

Naofumi nearly chocked on his drink. He looked at Y/n like he had just said something completely stupid.

Y/n: Look we both know how shit this place is

Naofumi: W-What!?

Y/n: I've had enough of this place! They took my entire family away from me!

Naofumi: What do you mean?

Y/n: My family have found a way to travel in between this world and my own. They had all established themselves as heroes, adventures, and people loved them.... But that old bastard had them all killed! Women! Children! They killed nearly everyone!

Naofumi: How do I know this is true? That's a big claim...

Y/n: You would just have to trust me

Naofumi: Look Y/n... I can't...

Y/n: I know you don't trust people anymore, but please. We are both in the same boat

Naofumi: Will you be able to prove it to me? That they did this?

Y/n: I can. Let's party up for the time being, while I search for the book that can prove all of this

Naofumi: Ok then. We'll stick around till you get that book

Y/n: Thanks Naofumi... I know putting your trust into me, into anyone is hard...

Naofumi: No problem...

Timeskip

The now larger party were currently traveling back to Melromarc. It's been while since Y/n was back at the city, but he knew he would have to return anyways. If he wanted info that place would have some.

Y/n was fine with letting Naofumi continue doing what he wanted, and agreed to act more like a companion while they were traveling together. Y/n needed Naofumi to believe him, too help him achieve his goals. He didn't want to think about possibly fighting Naofumi, and his party.

(Y/n POV)

I sat in the back of the carriage with my eyes closed. I was deep in thought about the saved monsters system and how it works. When I resurrected and saved it, the level reset back to 1. It has no experience bar either, but a kill bar instead.

If kills was the only requirement that could either make it extremely easy, or harder. I really wanted to test it, but right now convincing Naofumi was more important.

Having him on my side would befit me a lot more then him as my enemy. Unlike those idiots, I know Naofumi isn't weak simply because he has a shield.

I heard the cloth ruffle and opened my eyes. Naofumi was looking from his seat in the front, making sure everything was all right.

Naofumi: Y'know I won't be getting experience when we are partied up

Y/n: Actually that's something I wanted to test. My weapon isn't a cardinal weapon like yours, so I think they have a few rules that are different

Naofumi: Hmm... I guess we'll find out during the next wave

Y/n: I'm only helping because it's you. I'd rather not do a single thing for that shit Kingdom

Naofumi looked at me in silence for a bit before he went back to watching the road. He left me and the girls to ourselves. Like always I was brainstorming plenty of things to try, and pushed them into the back of my mind.

Timeskip

I heard the sounds of people outside the carriage. We must have arrived at Melromarc. Just thinking about being here filled me with anger, but I'll have to push it down while I work with Y/n.

Raphtalia seemed to be getting worse. Naofumi had been self treating her a lot, but nothing seemed to be fully working. He planned to stop at the church and buy some Holy Water, to cure her.

We came to a stop, and I hopped out of the back. We were just in front of the Church of the Three Heroes's cathedral. I didn't have to even enter this place and I could tell he shady they are.

I followed Naofumi up the steps and entered the church. The main room was pretty spacious as you would expect from a cathedral. Pieces of colored glass made a symbol at the end of the room.

The pope walked down from his chair and welcomed us. He was followed by some nuns and priests.

Pope: Welcome to God's sacred realm. Why has his light guided you here today?

Naofumi: I'm looking to buy some Holy Water

Pope: You, go fetch some of the finest we have

A nun nodded and ran off. It didn't take long for her to return with a vile of Holy Water. Naofumi looked at it and then scoffed. He had an annoyed look on his face.

Naofumi: I though you said the best! This is cheap crap!

Pope: I though I told you the best! Why have you forsaken my order?!

Nun: B-But...

Pope: Silence. Go get another one

The nun nodded again. She ran off again, her head much lower this time. After she returned they have Naofumi the better one, and he paid them for it.

We were quick to leave the Church. That guy really set off some flags. He was hiding something, but it's not like it's any of my concern. Naofumi opened the bottle and poured it on Raphtalia. The dark spots around her body vanished. She hissed a little in pain as they vanished, but overall she was better.

Raphtalia: Thanks Mr. Naofumi

He nodded to her, before addressing me.

Naofumi: The next wave should be in a few days. We should rest up, and tomorrow maybe we can do some light grinding

Y/n: Sure, I've got to test out things anyways

Naofumi: I want to see that Dragon of yours in action too

Timeskip

Being in the fields of Melromarc felt nostalgic. I haven't been here all that long, but so much has already happened since then.

I shook the feeling off and looked at the saved creatures menu. I summoned Xykus, and purple particles started to form in front of me. They took the shape of a small dragon, before it fully materialized into it.

He was much smaller then he was when I resurrected him. I assumed that's because of the evolution menu, and his level reset.

Naofumi: He's a lot smaller then I remember

Y/n: That's because of the skill I used on him. Recall let's me save a monster, but he's the first one so I don't know if it does this every time

Naofumi: Huh... That's a broken skill

Y/n: You think so?

Naofumi: Dude your entire class is broken

Y/n: I guess...

I decided to have it fight sone Balloons. The dragon even thought it was small, was still larger then me. It one shot every Balloon it came across. After around an hour of just low level experience grinding, and tests, Xykus had killed a lot of Balloons.

We also confirmed that Naofumi does get experience even if we are partied up. We continued to relax and just test things out, until the day of the third wave had arrived.

A few people Naofumi had met joined the party, and we all waited for the timer to hit zero. I still didn't feel good about helping, but I promised Naofumi, so I'll keep it. I watched as the letters appeared in front of me.
