The Backstabbing Kingdom
(3rd POV)
Flashback - 1 year ago
A bustling village could be seen off in the distance. The sound of laughter and chatter filled the air. All around were seasoned adventures and heroes.
A lone man could be seen walking through the village. Everyone would wave to him or great him in some way. The village was not big by any means, but it wasn't small either. Everyone knew each other and had a good relationship with their fellow village dwellers. They were all apart of one clan, even if they were not related, it was like a symbol to them and the people of the world.
The man walking through the village was F/n L/n. The father of Y/n L/n, and previous Necromancer Hero. Only a fool would believe he was evil, because of his class.
Another man walked up to him and gave F/n a hug. F/n returned it with gratitude and began talking to the man. It was someone he saw as a brother and had fought along side plenty of times.
Xero: Hey F/n welcome back!
F/n: Hello Xero
Xero: I hear the King has been acting very paranoid recently. You just had a contract from the kingdom right? What's that all about?
F/n: No clue honestly... He seemed very skittish last time I talked to him...
Both men looked at each other in silence both pondering about what has the King in a weird mood.
Xero: So how long till little Y/n gets to come to this place?
F/n: In a year... He won't be so little though...
Xero: Hey bro I know you feel bad about leaving him, but this world needed you. Nobody could have stopped the waves without your help
F/n: I know... I just miss him and my wife...
Xero: Well you'll see him in no time at all. A year will fly by!
F/n: That I hope for
Xero: Anyways see ya around F/n, gotta contract I got to fulfill
F/n: See ya Xero!
They hug one more time before parting ways. F/n smiled as he walked into the village blacksmith's house. He was a kind man who took his craft very seriously like all good craftsmen should.
F/n: Wels I'm here to drop off my armor!
Wels came out from the back room and smiled at F/n. He waved for him to put it on the table.
Wels: Always good to see you F/n. How have things been?
F/n: Just got back from another contract. Took care of it without any trouble
Wels: Nothing less from you
F/n rubbed his the back of his head bashfully. Even for someone of his age he still acted like a kid sometimes, but lots of people saw that as some of his charm.
Wels: Anyways you can leave your gear tonight and I'll have it fixed up for you in the morning
F/n: Thanks Wels! Appreciate it!
F/n waved him goodbye as he left the building. He looked of into the distance and noticed the sun was starting to set. He sighed and thought about Y/n. 1 more year and he would finally get to see him and apologize for everything.
He made his way to his home. It was a small little cottage around the outskirts of the village. He sat by his fireplace and drank some tea. He still wasn't sure how they had tea, but as a researcher he was devoted to find out.
He pulled out a book, and a pen and quill. He started writing away in his book. It held lots of secrets and knowledge about the world. All of the things F/n has spent years learning about and testing if he could.
Time past much faster then he expected and it was already the dead of night when he looked up from his book.
F/n: Whoops lost track of time again... Better head to bed
However something inside F/n, told him something was wrong. That something terrible was about to happen and he was never one to go against his gut.
As F/n left his home a huge explosion could be seen coming from the village. He was quick to take action and rushed to the village.
???: FIRE!!!
An unknown voice echoed through the village. A volley of arrows flew through the air as they landed all over the village, hitting many of the heroes and adventures.
Anyone who was not wearing any of their gear were killed on the spot. F/n hated watching people he treated as family die like that.
He ducked and weaved arrows as they continued to rain down on the village. Magic of all types also flew by destroying house and shops.
He bursts through the doors to the blacksmith and grabs his gear from the table. Before he could run out, Wels comes out from the back room with some weapons and gear behind him.
Wels: Hey put that down! I haven't fixed it yet!
F/n: Sorry! I need to get out there!
F/n didn't listen to Wels and rushed out of the building he could hear Wels scream for him to come back.
???: Infantry Advance!
The voice echoed through the village again. The clanging of armor and swords could be heard as soldiers swarmed the village. He could see it as clear as day now.
The flag of Melromarc swaying back and forth as the soldiers slaughter any unarmed civilians that they came across.
F/n: YOU BASTARDS!!!
F/n slashed his way through soldiers like butter. Being a hero was a major advantage over normal people. All of those who had their gear on were putting up a fight against the soldiers, but it was getting increasingly difficult. More and more soldiers kept pouring into the village and dodging arrows while fighting was not something that could be done easily.
Many heroes and adventures died in the drawn out fight. A few stray adventures helping those who were too young and too old to fight escape joined the fray. As soon as the enemy commander saw this he grinned.
???: Cavalry Charge!
F/n: No don't!
As F/n turned around to see the horsemen trample kids and old folks. F/n's eyes turned red and all he felt was pure hatred. He let out a violent scream and dead bodies arouse.
Hundreds of the soldiers that died, arose again. They slaughtered the Melromarc men that weren't prepared to fight their fallen comrades. F/n had pushed them back all the way to their archers where they had committed to making a last stand and formed a shield wall.
The commander stood at the front ready to take on F/n as his army marched towards them.
F/n: You'll pay for this you monster!
???: You're the only monster here!
F/n charged the commander. Both of them traded blows at a high speed. One only a hero could achieve. Undead clashed with the living, but F/n was still at the disadvantage even with the raised dead.
He was charging into a defensive wall with archers and mages standing behind it, along with a hero commanding the army.
The battle was quickly coming to a wrap. F/n went to strike at the commander, but was met with a gladius to his dented chest plate and torn leather. The gladius easily punched through his battered armor and pierced his heart.
F/n gasped in pain as he grabbed the blade. He tried to force it out, but his tired body was finally catching up with him. The commander pushed it deeper into his chest, even forcing him to his knees.
???: Die you abomination!
F/n: M... My... son will... a-avenge us all....
???: I'll kill him too! It's over for this pitiful clan!
F/n coughed up some blood as he looked up at the night sky. He started smiling as he thought of his son. He just wished he could be here when his son arrives, but it seemed fate had other things in store for F/n.
(3rd POV)
Present
Y/n sat there silently. He was processing everything he had just heard from Wels.
Wels: If you really want to know how this world works then I would suggest finding the book your father was working on
Y/n: Where would I find it?
Wels: A girl named Julia had taken it with her when the village got attacked. Your father had told her to do so in case of an emergency. Looks like he was right to do so
Y/n: Do you know where she would be at?
Wels: Sorry I got no clue. It's been a year since I've seen anyone who survived the attack
Y/n: Thank you for this. You've been incredibly helpful
Wels: No problem! Just come back here if ya ever need that armor patched up! I know it like the back of my hand after all!
Y/n: Will do!
Y/n signaled for the girls and they left Wels's house. He felt a new wave of vigor and confidence wash over him after his talk with Wels. He was ready to set out on his new mission to find Julia and his father's book.
