A Magical Savior
???: We finally meet Necromancer. Your father said you'd show up one day
Even though I wasn't there when my father died, I could already tell this was the very man who murdered him.
Y/n: It's you! You're the one who killed my father!
???: You are correct. He certainly was a pitiful excuse for a hero
I wanted to kill him right here and now, but my body had succumbed to its limits. If I fought him right now, It's a guarantee that I will die.
I felt a sharp pain in my shoulders, his movement faster then I could even detect. His attack left both of my shoulders barely attached to my body. I dropped my scythe to the floor and fell to my knees.
???: I've grown a lot since I killed your dad. You are nowhere near the level to hurt me child
Y/n: You've got a real ego on you
???: Well kid I'm strong enough to back up my ego. Now it's time for you to join your dad in the afterlife
He lifted his hand into the air as a spear of light formed in the air. He pushed his hand down as the spear rushed towards me, but was intercepted by an unknown blue magic.
???: Azure Starfall!
Several other blue stars of magic spawned in the air as they all slammed into the leader of the Crusaders.
???: Pressure!
The man was pushed into the ground as it cracked beneath him as he tried to withstand it. A crater slowly being formed around him.
???: Nebula!
A purple and blue sparkling cloudy fog covered the area. A girl with brown hair tied up into a ponytail crouched next to me. Her blue eyes faintly glowing. She had 2 black stars tattooed under her eye.
(A/N Similar to this with the stars under her left eye)
She helped me up, and said something under her breath. She also grabbed Melty as the weight of gravity disappeared. We both started flouting and she used a different type of magic to propel us away from the town.
My body and mind seemingly registered we were finally no longer in danger and I could feel it's weight even if I was flouting through the sky. I heard a small yelp before the temptation of sleep claimed victory.
Timeskip
My eyes slowly opened. I looked around and was meet with a quaint cottage like interior.
The only light was a lantern placed on the desk next to the bed.
My attention was drawn to the door as the girl from earlier walked in holding a tray. An assortment of food was laid out on it. My stomach decided to be honest with itself as it grumbled at the display.
???: Well you are certainly hungry
She placed the tray next to me and turned the handle to the cup towards me. A small star like flame appeared at the tip of her finger, as she used it to make the lantern brighter.
Y/n: I... uhh thank you...
She glanced over at me and smiled, before she pulled up a chair and sat next to the bed. She got herself comfortable as she grabbed the second cup that she brought with her.
???: So, you got any questions?
I wasn't sure if I should trust her or not. She did save my life, but she could also be trying to take it. For all I know she poisoned the food.
Y/n: Where am I?
???: My home
Y/n: That didn't help at all
???: I never said you'd get a good answer
Y/n: Very cheeky it seems
She chuckled under her breath as she sipped on her drink. She motioned for me to enjoy the food she brought.
My stomach grumbled again and I decided I'll trust her for now, or at least enough to assume the food isn't poisoned.
Y/n: Who are you?
???: Someone
Y/n:...
Her chuckle turned more into a laugh. Clearly my displeasure with her answers was bringing her pleasure.
???: I'm sorry, I'll answer seriously now
She took another sip of her drink before she gained a more serious expression. He eyes started to glow slightly blue.
Julia: My name is Julia. First and Last Apprentice of your father, F/n L/n
My eyes widened as she revealed her name. This is who Wels had told me to find. Honestly not what I was expecting.
She was clearly smaller then me. Her brown hair wasn't in the ponytail anymore and reached a little last her shoulders. Her eyes I could now see are a deep blue. She looked to be around my age.
Y/n: Wels had told me a little about you
Julia: Oh? How's he doing?
Y/n: He's doing fine. He was kind enough to tell me a little about my father and what happened
Julia: I take it he also told you about your father's book?
Y/n: He said it would help me learn how this world truly works
Julia: I can spoil it for you, but it's better if I just let you read it yourself. Your father was a brilliant man
She finished her drink as she collected the now empty tray. She neatly placed whatever dishes onto it and took it with her as she left the room.
Julia: Rest up for now. I'll grab the book and anything else I think you might find interesting
I sighed as I laid back down. I browsed my skills idly. Xykus was marked as inactive, along with a cooldown timer before I could summon him again. While on the topic of companions I wondered what Fu and Yu were doing. Hopefully Naofumi isn't having to much trouble with them.
He probably is gonna yell at me next time I see him.... Ah he'll be fine, they'd at least help him a lot in combat. I glanced at the party and saw Melty was fine too. She probably is emotionally scared now.
I heard the turn open again as Julia came back carrying a book and a few scrolls with her. She set them down on the desk and took her seat again.
Julia: So what do you want first. Some magic scrolls or your father's book?
Y/n: My dad's book. I want to know everything he knew about this world
She smiled as she handed me the book. It looked like it had been extremely well preserved. The book has a simple leather cover, with etched running down the front. Something that was surprising is it wasn't being translated automatically. I knew the language he had written the book in. It was my native language.
Julia: It's Runic Magic. They can do quite a lot of useful things if you are proficient enough in them
Y/n: Runes?
Julia: It's a very ancient magic that only your father knew about. He taught me about them, but I can only read them. I'm not very good at actually using it
My dad clearly lied to her. I traced my finger along them. I wonder how my father actually knew about this world, about everything.
It always felt like he was keeping secrets from Mom and I, and since coming here I've discovered one of his biggest.
I hesitated as I barely lifted the cover open. It felt like everything would be over if I read what was inside of this book.
My eyes widened as I turned the cover. On the first page was a letter my father wrote addressed to me.
Dear Y/n
I'd like to apologize to you. I wish things didn't have to turn out this way. I'd of loved to take you and your mother here with me, but it wasn't safe. It still isn't safe, but it's something I'm working towards. I've been researching everything I can to try and speed up the process. You wouldn't believe some of the things I discovered durning my time here. If you ever do read this letter, then I am probably dead. Please use the information that I've gathered to its fullest to keep yourself safe. Love you Y/n, and don't forget to contact your mother. She is probably worried sick.
Sincerely, F/n
He really was prepared for a lot of scenarios. He even wrote me a damn death later in case he died and I manage to get this far. Who even expects something like that.
Page after page was filled with magical formulas and theories. Magics I would have never guessed existed or tried to do myself. Just like how I've been learning skills through trial and error, this book was filled of the same thing.
The worlds entire history was also logged, along with events that were entirely forgotten about and civilizations that collapsed. Even legendary items owned by previous heroes and secrets never learned by anyone besides him and anyone who read this book.
It went into great detail about the exploits of our clan from its very creation up till the point my father had died. It also showed that we had ties in almost every major conflict around the world.
What got me really interested was a few pages dedicated to dimensional traveling and how it was connected to the rifts that spawn whenever a wave happens. Entering them would let you travel to different worlds during the time of the wave. He also explains that some worlds have developed technology with the ability to freely travel between the worlds, and is much safer then entering a rift directly.
He also warned about the dangers of doing so, and that getting lost in between the rifts leaves a heavy toll on the body and mind. He didn't go into detail on what it did to him, when he got stuck, just explained that he should avoid entering the rifts if possible.
I continued to analyze the book and was astonished by everything in it. The final page of the book was signed several times by my father, all of the handwriting being different the then the other, some much more faded.
Julia: So what do you think!? Crazy right!? Did you know that last page is signed by different versions of you dad!? It's still so wild to wrap my head around it!!!
She practically jumped out of her chair and slammed her hands on the bed as she got closer to my face with each question. She was leaning over me with stars in her eyes and a excited grin.
Y/n: It's amazing... How did he even find all of this out?
Julia: I... I never got that far in my training...
Y/n: I see...
She sat back down in the chair and sighed. She twiddled her thumbs as she looked out the window. She looked over at me, her eyes glowing softly in the dim room.
Julia: I'd of loved to find out. He was always looking ahead, never truly seemed like he existed in the present
After going through the book I was also wondering more about how my father knew all of this. Where he gained all of this information and how he made any of this possible.
Y/n: Well then let's go find out together then
A large grin plastered itself in Julia's face. She grabbed my hand and started shaking it rapidly.
Julia: I thought you'd never ask!
