Manta Wings
Stars seem to stare me down
and I surrender to every whisper
Every lackluster dream
in passing.
We are so dark
in the heart of this night
and it never stops
and it never starts.
I find myself a mystery
and I see nothing
that surrounds me
that I endeavor to know
more than the universe
inside myself.
Wiser are the heavens far above
than the wisdom of kings
and the way a father feels.
If we travel now without a home
How can I know what's inside of me?
But dear I ache for all that lives in you
Mountain springs cry
for I am sorry.
They fall A thousand leagues or more to the shores for you
I spread my manta wings
on the sea bed,
searching for years
trying to find the bottom
so that I can swim up again; to you
Half asleep I dream
I remember your face
and how you
relied on me
And I swim
back to the shore
