Chapter 59
The next day went by the same as the last, though she had spent some time on adjusting and refining what she needed to do to make the dragon golem and was now able to make one in the span of seconds. Though making it move on it's own was still a small challenge and she figured she'd need to talk to Sherry from Lamia Scale to be able to improve upon that move a bit more and unless she was somehow sucked into their world via Kurogiri, she assumed that wasn't going to happen for a while.
By the end of the day she was sitting in the common area upside-down on the sofa, trying to balance a pencil between her upper lip and her nose. These past two days had been total busts for her. All she had done was sit on one of the tallest pillars watching as all of her classmates improved and came up with their own Ultimate Moves as she played with the dragon golems. Sure, she was stronger than most of them but that didn't mean she didn't want to improve her own abilities.
"Hey, Hayashi!" A voice called, causing Akina to lose the balance of the pencil and send it dropping to the floor. She looked towards the source to see Kaminari and Kirishima walking up to her, the two of them grinning. "We were gonna go to the support department to see what changes we can make to our costumes, everyone else is busy so you wanna join us?"
Akina, still upside down, looked from Kaminari to Kirishima, thinking quietly to herself before deciding. "Sure, I'm not improving anything by sitting here. Maybe I can figure something out with my costume." She swung her legs over and jumped into a standing position. "Let's go."
The two boys looked at her- Kaminari looking slightly shocked that she accepted while Kirishima just grinned. Without another throught the two of them followed after Akina and they walked out of the dormitory and to the main building. Behind her the two boys were talking about what kind of upgrades they were going to get for their costumes. Akina, having no clue what type of upgrade she would get listened in on their conversation.
"I realized my arms might hurt people when I rescue them, so I'm planning on getting some sleeves to protect them so they won't get scratched up by my quirk." Kirishima was saying.
"Dude, that's so smart!" Kaminari exclaimed. "I'm getting something to help with directional support. My lighting's useful and all but not when I accidentally shock people on my side, you know."
"I get ya. Not manly."
"What're you thinkin' on doing, Hayashi?" Kaminari asked, and Akina felt both boy's gazes on her.
"To be honest, I don't have a clue. My power is pretty solid on it's own so I don't know what kinds of support gear will help me out. Maybe I'll make some alterations to my costume, though." She shrugged, "I'll decide when I get there."
"You really don't plan ahead, do you?" Kirishima said.
"No, does that matter?"
"Nope. Not at all."
The three of them made it to the support course and Akina threw open the door, loudly announcing her presence to whoever was in the room without even saying a word.
"No, Hayashi, I'm not going to fight you." Power Loader said, his back towards her.
"Is asking for fights a normal occurrence for you?" Kaminari asked.
"Bakugo does it too." Akina said with a shrug as she stepped inside the room.
"Not with the teachers." Kaminari said, looking at Akina with a slightly stressed expression.
"Eh, tomato, tamato. And that's not why I'm here! I- and these two- wanna adjust our costumes!"
Power Loader looked up and over towards the three of them, before someone jumped towards them, her eyes wide with excitement. "You wanna adjust your costumes? I can fix you guys up with one of my babies!"
"Babies...? Oh, you're that girl who advertised her support items during the sports festival!" Kirishima exclaimed. "Hatsumi, right?"
"You remembered!" The girl, Hatsume exclaimed with a grin. "So, what can I do for you guys?"
"You two go ahead, I still don't know what I want." Akina said, motioning towards the two boys. "Gives me some time to think."
The two boys glanced at each other before nodding and stepping forwards to discuss what they wanted with Hatsume. Akina looked at the devices that littered the room. She had no clue what most of them did but hey, that didn't mean she couldn't appreciate how they looked.
"So, Hayashi, what can I do ya for?" Hatsume asked, suddenly appearing beside the mage. Akina glanced back at Kaminari and Kirshima, who were now talking to Power Loader about getting their costume changes approved.
"No clue!" Akina said, straightening up with a grin. "To be honest I really just came along because I was bored."
"Well, I'm sure we can figure something out for you! Your quirk has to do with plants and stuff, right?" When Akina nodded Hatsume grinned and grabbed the freckled teen by the wrist before pulling her towards a table that had multiple devices laid out on top of it. "Voila! Maybe some of my precious babies will help you out!"
"Please stop calling them your babies." Akina said, but was ignored by the pink haired inventor as she stared going over each of the weapons that were laid out in front of her. From a gun that shot a net with seeds embedded in it to make it a more effective trap, to goggles that identified plants, to small beads that held pollen inside to create an effective smokescreen.
At the last one Akina perked up, "Pollen Bombs?" She asked.
"Oh, have I peaked your interest? The moment these babies make contact with the ground, a giant cloud of pollen will shoot out of them and blind the enemy! If they have allergies even better!"
"Would it be possible to fill these with something other than the pollen that's already inside?"
Hatsume looked at her, a look of curiosity and confusion appearing on her face. "What're you getting at?" She asked.
"Well, I just had an idea. If I can change the pollen to something that, I dunno, gives people different effects then it might pack more of a punch. Like strong lavender to get someone to fall asleep, or an itchy kind of pollen to annoy the enemy. If they could do something like that I might use them." Akina said. It wasn't that she needed the support item- she probably could of made bombs like them herself- but it was good to have a backup in case anything happened to her magic.
Hatsume was quiet, before her eyes widened and started shining, "Of course! That would make my babies so much cooler! Thanks!" She grabbed the beads and rushed towards a back room, there were a few crashes heard before she reappeared, somehow covered in soot. "Those were just prototypes, but I'll fix them up and make my babies perfect for you! They should be ready in two days!"
"Hayashi, you said you wanted to change some of your costume, right?" Power Loader called, "Come over here so we can discuss it."
"Ah, right." She bowed her head towards Hatsume and grinned, "I'm excited to see them completed!" With that she walked over towards Power Loader and the two of them discussed any changes.
