Chapter 58

The next few weeks the students spent getting used to the dorms. It took a while but soon everyone started to relax. It wasn't long before Akina found herself sitting in her homeroom for some summer classes listening to Aizawa speak.

"I believe I mentioned this already but your main focus this summer is obtaining provisional hero licenses."

"Yes, sir!" The class exclaimed.

"Do not take this lightly." He glanced over at Akina before continuing to adress the class. "A hero license means that you're responsible for human lives. You can imagine that the exam to receive one is very difficult. Only 50% of students pass the tests required for a permit each year."

"It's that hard to get a provisional license?" M*neta asked.

"In order to prepare, today you'll concentrate on creating something new." Suddenly the door to the classroom slid open and the class looked over to see who was walking into the room. Standing in the doorway were three of their teachers, Cementoss, Ectoplasm, and Midnight. "Two ultimate moves."

"Ultimate moves? An exam is a normal school thing." Kaminari and Kirishima exclaimed.

"But this is total hero work!" Sero and Mina added.

"When we say 'Ultimate' we mean a move that will ensure you win against your opponent." Ectoplasm said as he stood in the front of the classroom.

"An action so unique to your identity that no other person can copy it. Simply put, you must learn to lean into your strengths." Cementoss continued.

"Your moves represent who you are. These days most pro heroes have an ultimate move. Those who don't are fools." Midnight continued.

"This may sound abstract but we'll explain more as the day goes on. For now change into your costumes and meet in gym Gamma." Aizawa said.

As the girls were changing, they struck up a conversation about the upcoming class. Most of them were excited but there were a few who had no idea what they could do for an Ultimate move of their own.

"You're lucky, Aki, you practically already have some Ultimate Moves." Mina said as she slipped on her jacket. "You even have names for them."

"Aw, come on, I'm sure you'll think of a move in no time!" Akina said then she looked at the rest of the girls in the changing room, "Same goes for all of you! The Ultimate moves you guys will come up with are sure to be amazing!"

Once everyone was done changing into their hero costumes they gathered at the gym where Aizawa was waiting.

"Gym Gamma, also known at the Academy as the "Training Dining Land," or TDL." He said, and behind him Akina watched as Cementoss placed his hands on the ground and activated his quirk, the cement slowly rising.

"This facility was my idea. We can prepare unique terrains and obstacles for each student here. Here you will lean to serve up justice, hence the name." Cementoss said.

Suddenly Iida's hand shot straight up into the air, "Please allow me a question. What is the advantage of having ultimate moves for our provisional exam? May we know your reasoning?!"

"That's two questions. Calm down." Aizawa said. "The job of a hero is to save people from all sorts of dangers. Crime, accidents, and natural or man-made disasters. Of course the licensing exam analyzes how well you're able to deal with such things. It won't just be fighting. Your ability to gather information and make quick decisions will be judged. In addition to how well you communicate, cooperate, and lead others. Every year a new test is used to evaluate these qualities."

Beside him, Midnight took a step forwards, "One thing is especially important. If you want to be a pro hero, you must be able to prevail in battle. If you're prepared, you won't have to worry. And those of you with an ultimate move will have stronger results."

"Your circumstances should not dictate the results of your future battles. Learn to be consistant and you will be a great asset on the front lines." Cementoss added.

"Your ultimate move doesn't necessarily have to be an attack. Take Iida's Reciproburst, and Hayashi's Rose's Defense for example. Iida's temporary boost in speed and Hayashi's ability to defend herself is valuable enough that it falls into the category of excellence we're looking for.

"You mean I've been doing an ultimate move all along?" Iida asked, clutching his hand close to his heart.

"So, it's basically our secret weapon. Something that gives us the edge so we can win no matter who or what we're facing." Sato said.

"Correct! For example how Kamui Woods is able to use his Lacquered Chain Prison to capture opponents in an instant. That's exactly what we want to see." Midnight said.

"The training camp was interrupted. But the practice you did get in to develop your quirks was part of the process needed to create these defining abilities. Now that you're caught up--" Behind him pillars of concrete rose up from the ground to create a rocky terrain and Ectoplasm created multiple clones of himself until there were 21 versions of him standing around. "You'll be working hard to develop powerful moves of your own for the next ten days or so. This is how you will spend the remainder of your summer vacation. Prepare for intensive training. In addition you should think about how you can improve your costumes, especially now that you have a better understanding of your quirks. I expect each of you to go Plus Ultra. Do you have it in you?"

"Yes, sir!" The class exclaimed.

"And Hayashi, don't think that just because you might already have some super moves you can relax during these next ten days. I want you to be working just as hard as your classmates. Understand?"

Akina grinned, her canines glistening in the light of the gym, "Oh, I understand perfectly.

The class soon spread out around the gym, Akina finding herself sitting on top of one of the pillars with her legs hanging over the edge as the rest of the class worked on their quirks. Electricity, ice, fire, and lasers were flying all around her but Akina didn't move a muscle. If she were being honest with herself she had no idea what she could do for an ultimate move. Sure in this world her spells were considered to be tide changing moves but she wanted to improve more, she wanted to get stronger and find new ways to use her magic. Sure, she could use the Earth Beast's like Pixie Bob but she wanted to learn how to do something more.

"You can't sit there all day." An Ectoplasm clone said from behind her. "Eraser said you had to work as well."

"I know, I know. But figuring something new out for me isn't as easy as it is for the others." She let out a groan and leaned back, laying flat against the top of the pillar. "The way magic works is by learning spells that are either taught to you or you learn from a spellbook. The only spellbook I have has basic spells and I can't exactly ask anyone here to teach me something they think isn't real."

"Then what exactly do you need to do in order to improve your power."

Akina looked over the terrain, watching as all of her classmates worked on improving their quirks. "Well, normally I'd undergo intense training."

"When you say 'intense'-"

"Let's just say if anyone in this world tried it they'd most likely end up in the hospital for a week or two." Her gaze moved over towards the entrance, spotting a new figure standing alongside Aizawa and Midnight. It seems that All Might had decided to give them a visit. Over to her side there were a few loud explosions and Akina watched as Bakugo maneuvered through the air and shot a large explosion at the Ectoplasm clone, destroying it with ease. With a sigh she rested her chin on her hand.

How can I improve my power?

________

Hey hey hey!

Sorry for the late update, I kind of reached a small writer's block and school has gotten a little stressful the past week or two. I'll try to update but it might not be consistant. Sorry 'bout that!

As an apology here's a screenshot edit of all my fanfic OCs :))
