Chapter 48

**In Earthland**

Back at Fairy Tail, the wizards were trying to figure out what had happened to the three dragon slayers and two exceeds. Levy was pouring over a stack of books with her Gale-force glasses on allowing her read through the books at immaculate speeds. Others were going on jobs in hopes of finding out any clues. They had even gotten some of the other guilds to help out such as Lamia Scale and Sabertooth.

Suddenly a group of wizards had come through the door, it was Team Natsu returning from a job that looked like it might have hints to where the dragon slayers had been taken.

"Did you find anything?" Mira asked, walking up to the recently returned team. Everything in the past few months had been especially hard on her and the other Strauss siblings. To them loosing Akina felt like they had lost a sibling. Elfman and Lisanna were currently on a job in hopes of finding any trace of the missing wizards.

"No. Nothing." Erza said, a frustrated look on her face. "Nobody in that dark guild had any clue about that mysterious portal."

"It's like they've all just disappeared. There's no trace of them or whatever magic made that portal anywhere." Lucy said. "Have you found anything Levy?"

Levy let out a quiet sigh and shook her head. "None of these books describe what we're looking for. I've even looked through the little information we have about Anima."

"You think they were sent to Edolas?" Gray asked.

"That's very unlikely. All Magic was expelled from Edolas the last time we were there. If they had been sent there they would of been thrown out almost immediately." Erza said. "We can only assume they're somewhere here in Fiore."

"What if they're in another world like Edolas?" Natsu suggested.

"There can't be any other worlds like that, right?" Wendy asked.

"Don't be ridiculous. There can't be." Carla said.

"Exactly. Don't go spewing out stupid ideas, Flame Breath." Gray said.

"Actually Natsu might have a point." Maivs said, appearing out of nowhere and stopping what could of been a nasty fight between the ice and fire wizards. "We can't rule out the possibility that those three are in some kind of entirely new land."

"Right you are!" A new voice said, and everyone looked towards a cloud of smoke that had appeared in the middle of the guild hall. There a familiar clock had appeared, much to the surprise of the guild.

"Horlogium! what are you doing here?" Lucy asked, since as far as she was aware she didn't summon the spirit.

"Sorry for any intrusion Lady Lucy, I have a message from Lady Akina." At those words an air of shock filled the guild hall.

"Wait, you saw Akina? Where is she? Are the others with her?" Erza asked, her eyes wide in shock.

"Are they okay?" Mira asked.

"I am only aware of the status of three of your friends, the ones known as Akina, Gajeel, and Panther Lily. They all looked to be alive and well."

A smile appeared on Mira's face, and she sighed in relief. "Thank goodness those three are safe."

"We can assume Choco is safe as well, since she went through the portal after Akina." Gray stated. "Though Laxus is still a mystery."

"You said you have a message from Akina. You mind telling us what it is?" Lucy asked.

"Of course. Lady Akina's message is this 'We're in a world of quirks, but we're going to make our way home. Fairy Tail style'. That is all the message says."

"So they're in some kind of quirky new world? The hell does that mean?" Natsu asked. "Does everyone have a strange sense of humor or something?"

"I don't think she means that." Gray said.

"Is it some kind of riddle?" Erza asked.

"Aki doesn't really talk in riddles." Mira said

"Do you have anything else you could tell us?" Lucy asked.

"Well, when I had arrived, I had protected Lady Akina from some strange blue flames. And I was attacked by a someone wielding a knife. As far as I'm aware there were no traces of magic coming off of either attacks."

"So they were casting spells without having magic. How's that possible?" Gray asked, leaning forwards.

"I'm afraid that's all the information I can give at the moment, as my time is almost up. Toodles." With that Horologium vanished in a poof of smoke.

"I feel like that left us with more questions than answers." Macow said with a sigh.

"Did anything Horologium say ring any bells, Levy?" Erza asked.

Levy was quiet for a second before she shook her head. "No, I can't think of anything."

"Hey Lucy, don't you have a spirit that knows a lot of information? What was it's name... Hux? Mux?" Happy said, putting a paw up to his chin in thought.

"Happy you're a genius!" Lucy exclaimed, reaching towards her keys. "Grandpa Crux might know something about this." She grabbed a silver key with a green cross on it and lifted it into the air, "Open, Gate of the Southern Cross, Crumudgeon!" She casted, a golden magical circle appearing at the tip of the key. In an instant, a spirit appeared. It looked to be an elderly cross. He sat cross legged hovering a few feet above the ground. The spirit let out a quiet chuckle once he had appeared.

"I need to know something about another world. Does the word 'Quirk' come up with anything? Possibly something with another world?" Lucy asked.

The cross chuckled then was still for a second, before he fell asleep.

"He's asleep." Gray stated.

"He's searching. Give it a second." With that, the guild waited for a few minutes, anticipation hanging heavy in the air. Eventually the spirit sprung to action, letting out a loud shout which startled most of the guild.

"So did you find anything?" Lucy asked.

"Indeed. The word 'Quirk' stems from another world, one very less traveled by both Celestial spirits and citizens of Earthland. The information I have on it is from almost 200 years ago years ago, though some new information has come to me just recently."

"Let's hear it." Erza said.

"It's a world called Ealearus, where the ethernano is abundant. From what I recall there aren't many beings there who can absorb it and make use of it in the same way that wizards do in Earthland. However, the existence of ethernano in this world has changed the beings who live there and they developed superhuman abilities, which they address as Quirks. Though these quirks are much weaker and have many more limits than magic." Crux said.

"Is there any way we can get there?" Erza asked.

Grandpa Crux chuckled once again and was silent. It was only a second later until he fell asleep, searching for an answer to the requip wizard's question. He let out a second shout, which even if some of the guild was prepared, most of them still jumped at the sudden noise.

"I'm afraid that unless you are a Celestial Spirit or from that world there is little to no chance of being able to travel there."

"Can't we just hitch a ride with one of you guys?" Natsu asked, "If you travel from this world to that one with someone on the back of a spirit guy we should totally be able to get there."

"That won't work. There would have to be a Celestial wizard with the same key on the other side." Lucy explained, she let out a sigh and looked at the spirit, "Thanks, your information really helped."

The spirit chuckled before he vanished in a puff a smoke, leaving the guild hall to sit in silence.

"I am not giving up on any one of my children." A voice said, breaking the silence that had fallen. Everyone in the guild hall looked over towards the bar table, where an old man was sitting. "No matter where they are, another world or not, we will get them back!" He raised his hand towards the sky, thumb and pointer finger outstretched.

The guild looked at their master before one after another they mirrored him, all of their hands pointing towards the sky. They were going to get their guild mates back, no matter what.

**Just Outside the Guild Hall**

A cloaked man was leaning against the wall near one of the windows. His face was casted in shadow, and any traits that could be recognizable were covered completely by a long cloak.

It has been years since he had arrived. A year since a mistake that sent him away from his homeland. He had been learning all that he could about how he could possible get home, though even with all his research he had found no way he could possibly get home.

Suddenly the door opened, and the wizard known as Natsu burst out of the guild hall, spouting fire from his mouth and shouting unintelligible words.

The man pushed himself off the wall and closed his eyes, vanishing in a split second, a new hope having budded in his chest. Maybe, just maybe he might be able to go home.
