~CHINEDU~

These guys (who l was sure were cultists) sat down and called for the waitress to come and take their orders. While she was taking there orders, one of the guys slapped her buttocks. She didn't react but from her facial expression it was clear that she was uncomfortable.

I just sat down on my seat, watching what was going on at that table. After taking there orders the waitress left for some time, while she was gone the same guy who had harassed her lit a cigarette and started smoking when I was sure that he could see the "NO SMOKING" sign that was pasted on the walls and tables of the bar.

The waitress went back to their table after a while holding a big tray containing I guessed the things they ordered. While the waitress was serving them, her buttoned shirt showed off her cleavage which of course that same dark, ugly guy had to make nasty comments about. As if the comments weren't enough, he decided to put his words into action. He grabbed and squeezed her breasts while telling her all the things he could do to her in the bed room.

That was the last straw for me. I couldn't just sit down there and watch, so I decided to act. I went over to their table and confronted these guys.

Instead of them to be apologetic, they insisted that it wasn't my business. One of four other guys said

"O boy get out oo before I brush you. That girl self wai you dey defend she like as my Oga dey press her, abi you no see as she open her breast"

While this guy was talking I noticed one of the other guys was lifting his shirt up and down, flashing the dagger that was tucked into his trouser.

I told them that I wasn't scared of them, then I shoved the guy that was standing infront of me to prove my point. The guy just laughed and told me to leave before I got hurt but I hated what they did to that lady. I wanted to teach these guys a lesson they would never forget, so I slapped this guy with all my might then ran as fast my legs could carry me out of that bar.

As I was running I heard voices behind me shouting "I will kill you", "No let am escape", "Bastard, you don die today" but I didn't turn back, I just kept on running.

I ran so fast and absent-mindedly that i didn't know I had gotten to the bus stop where I was to board a bus to take me back to Lugbe. Luckily for me I saw a bus which was just looking for one more passenger so they could leave. I quickly boarded the bus without asking how much the fair was, I just wanted to be out of that place.

The journey back to Lugbe was so fast. I stopped at a place called 'Police Sign board',  took an Okada (motorcycle) to Tudun Wada. Once we got into our community I came down from the motorcycle and started running. At this point I didn't really care if anyone was chasing me or not. I just felt to exposed outside.

I ran so fast to our compound, then once I was in I ran straight to our room, turned the door handle and luckily for me it was open. On getting inside the room, I was now face to face with Emeka who was just lying down on the mat but I couldn't see his face clearly because it was dark.

Since he punched me yesterday night, we have not in the same place alone so if I wanted to beat the crap out of him, this was my chance. I decided not to as I had bigger fish to fry.

Luckily for him before the Devil could tempt me to do anything, Chidi came into the room, all smiles like he had just won a jack pot. So I shifted all my attention to him.

Everything was awesome in my life. I had finally gotten a job, of course I was happy about the money I was going to be paid but what excited me the most was the fact that I'll have somewhere to go everyday.

It was the job of the cleaner but I didn't mind because it was way better than staying at home all day doing nothing. Best of all it afforded me the opportunity to be closer to my new love, Amina.

Well on my first day of work, I got to know the kind of person Amina was and it made me love her more. At the end of the day we walked home together and talked about alot of things. She told me alot about her self, from how to was for her growing up in Kaduna to how she got to Abuja. I did likewise, telling her how it was growing up in Imo.

She was a sewer heart. I knew deep down we were meant to be, it just felt right, it had to be. I wanted to ask her out but I didn't want to get rejected, I just needed to be sure she felt the way about me before making any move. One day I'll know for sure.

I was so engrossed in our conversation that i didn't realize that we had gotten to our compound. I didn't want our conversation to end, I tried stalling but she saw through it, "Good night, My Prince charming" she said while I was still talking.

After that I entered the room smiling. The room was quiet but Emeka and Chinedu were there. I could tell something was wrong so I didn't to lighten up the mood by telling them how my day went when all of a sudden I heard people arguing outside.

In our compound it was normal for people to argue, fight even but now I heard a familiar voice in this argument so I decided to go and see what was happening. On getting outside I saw Njideka in a heated argument with Madam Bose, one of the land lord's wives. It was usually seeing Njideka arguing as she normally was a quiet and peace loving person, so I tried to step in and calm both parties down but madam Bose wasn't having it. It was clear she wanted to fight.

She kept on shouting "Ashawo, you think say I no know your secret". I tried to calm her down but she pushed me away, shouting even louder. I could see that she wanted to gather everyone in the compound to hear what she had to say.

Occupants of our compound all came out of their house and gathered around in darkness as PHCN didn't given us light since they were on a strike.

Once everyone was out with touch lights in hand pointing at both Madam Bose and Njideka. She started again, this time shouting something different "Ole you think say you fit just snatch person husband's like that, your plan don fail iyo". Her thick accent made it a little difficult to grasp all she was saying but I got the message.

At this moment was when the Landlord himself decided to come out. As soon as Madam Bose saw her she said

"Oko mi mo ni nkankan lati so fun o" I didn't know what I mean't but I knew it wasn't good.

She continued " This your wife Belinda na fake iyo, infact her name na Njideka and that one there na her village lover". I looked at where she was pretty pointing to and saw she was pointing to Chinedu, not Emeka. I was almost tempted to tell her she was wrong , it was Emeka and not Chinedu.

"Come on shut up your dirty mouth, who told you all this nonsense" the land lord asked. Then to my greatest surprise, she said it was Emeka that told her called him "that other Omo igbo there".

Njideka just froze, she looked at Emeka turned and left. The land lord started shouting, vowing to destroy Chinedu. Before I knew what was happening, people were separating Chinedu from Emeka. I could see blood on Chinedu's shirt...
