Chapter 35
Annabeth sat on Tikha with her eyes closed. The wind ruffling her open blonde hair, that were now straight because of Hazel's magic. She was already blonde, and with a little trick of mist, she was made to look like the shifter they had killed, G.
Behind her, Tyson sat, with his hands behind his back, looking all in the world like he had been captured by Annabeth, while his knots were loose enough to break free anytime he needed.
Looking down at the city spread below her, she could say it was right out of a storybook. Y hadn't been lying when she said Lanka is a city of gold. The tall architecture, the glistening golden tops of temples, and the dragon moving around the markets holding a shopping back on their head, gave her quiet the happy feel.
But she knew under all that normalcy, a civil war was there. And it could be seen in the city too. The gardens were empty, there were no baby dragons in sight, and dragons gave her a fearful look when she passed, obviously thinking she was G.
After a few minutes, the dragon landed in the top balcony of a tower. It was like the tower Rupenzel lived in. Hearing the thuds of Teekha's feet, the door was opened, and behind it stood a dragon on his hind legs. Annabeth would've been surprised, if W had not warned her about it.
"Madam G, I am surprised."
"No need for all that. I need to meet F. I have a prisoner." Annabeth said, trying to channel her inner Zeus.
"Right away ma'am. I'll lead you, if you please. May I hold the prisoner?"
"No, I am quiet capable myself."
"Of course, madam. No insult intended."
"Dragons are relatively dumb creatures." Y had said, "But you need to be real careful about your acting near F. He would recognize his sister. Use the element of surprise while you can."
The dragon led her down so many stairs that she lost count, and when her feet had started aching, she was let into the room.
It was dimly lit, with dull red embroidered carpet, and green lanterns hanging from the walls. The room had no electricity and for all the worlds, looked like a smaller version of griffindor common room.
Behind a desk with lots of vials, some of them steaming, stood F. He was wearing an apron. Annabeth could see right away that G and F were related. He had the same shade of blonde hair as G, except that they were disheveled and singed in the front.
The dragon bowed and said, "Sir, Miss G."
F looked up, startling her with his baby pink eyes. She would have been surprised, but she had seen her fair share of weird eye colours too.
"Ah yes, G. Give me your card will you? Who is this young man who you?"
Annabeth nodded, and took out a card, which she had removed from the original G's clothes. It was an identity card, because Y had the ability to shape shift to look like anyone. It didn't fare well with Annabeth that their enemies weren't stupid.
"This is one of those heroes Y and gang got. He got immediately captured. Can't see what's so special about him." Annabeth said trying her best to sneer.
"Puny mortals and their heroes." F said, shaking his head. "Now, let's finish off this potion and we'll see to this creature. Hold this vial for me, will you?"
Annabeth came closer to him, and taking her opportunity, and knocking all the vials towards him, with a swig of her dagger. The apron singed. Tyson, broke free from his bonds and rushed forwards, and immediately.
As soon as Tyson was in the little faint ring F thought she hadn't noticed on the floor, F quickly stepped away and glass walls encircled her.
Annabeth internally smirked, and put on a shocked expression on her face, as she willed the mist to fade away, aging her up 10 years old, and curling her previously blonde hair.
F gave an arrogant grin, "You can't deceive the cleverest shifter of all shifters." He boasted.
And yet, here I am deceiving you.
Annabeth forced herself to look panicked and tried to break the glass with her sword, even as she knew that it was unbreakable. She was so glad she had taken acting lessons from Calypso. She used to be a terrible actor.
Their plan, from the beginning had to get captured, but not to make it too obvious. Y and co. had dragons loyal to them, and with the help of Annabeth and Sandor, both of who were very good at battle strategies, had formulated this plan.
They didn't know where Lady was kept, but K was a guy for the flair and dramatics. They knew, that he would want to end the battle in climax, with a bang. They were relying on this, that he takes them to where Lady is, and try to kill all of them in front of all the shifters.
That would be their chance to reveal their surprise and kill all of them, if things went according to the plan.
Annabeth thought that by now, Sophie and Ro had probably been 'captured' under the same idea and Annabeth and Tyson. Y was going to shape shift into G, ride Frank and take Sandor along with him, under capture and get taken the same way.
The others were to move all over the city, trying to find the rebel shifters, and get caught one way or the other.
The only issue was the distracting team. She hoped they were enough outnumbered to get captured. Otherwise they would have to stay out. It would be a major inconvenience, if they were to move all over Lanka trying to rescue them.
Now, as she had expected, green smoke bellowed in the glass cylinder and Annabeth went under the drug's effect (Sophie had a lot if objections to this part, but relented eventually, after Dex whispered something in her ear***)
Now, just if everything went according to the plan.
Jinx.
Author's note:
***dedication of the next chapter and a shoutout to the person who guesses what Dex whispered in Sophie's ear.
I think, this is the worst chapter I have written so far. It just lacks the continuity. I hope the last, explaining of the plan was not too confusing.
