Ch1 - The Prophecy
Author's note:
The fanfic is after the war with Gaea and in Legacy after the appointment of regents and after the ability enhancing but before the dwarf incident.
The trials of Apollo never happened and Leo came back immediately after the war.
Disclaimer:
I do not own Percy Jackson or Keeper of the lost cities. Though, the drakon is mine. (Was this really necessary?)
Percy's POV:
The war with Gaia is over. Percy and friends were relaxed. No monster had attacked him for three straight days, a standing record. Leo had came and had been punched by everyone. Percy Jackson was happily in a relationship with Annabeth, and he hadn't angered any gods for days, another standing record.
So, of course, that's when the fates decide that his life needs to be fucked up.
Percy was sitting on the edge of the camp half-blood lake chaperoning coach Hedge and Grover about 'who is better? Tree dryad or cloud nymph?' argument.
You know for the strongest demigod of all times, he got intimidated easily. (Have you seen coach Hedge's bat?)
Coach hedge was mentioning the plus point that you would not need to waste a drachma on iris message if your wife is a cloud nymph.
Percy saw a kid from Hecate cabin running towards him. He held up a hand to hush both satyrs and looked to the hecate kid, Nyl. He knew that Nyl was a good child so it wasn't a chance that he was hiding from an angry prank victim (boy did he see those a lot). That would most likely be Leo or the Stolls.
"Come on! Rachel is about to issue a prophecy!" Percy's eyebrows raised slightly, a sinking feeling in his stomach.
Percy, Grover and coach Hedge immediately ran towards where Annabeth and Rachel had been doing some architect-ty thing under Zeus' fist (weird place choice, but who was he to judge?). Half the camp was already around them. Rachel was sitting on her stool and was bellowing green smoke. Then in her oracle voice she said,
"The ten who defeated mother earth,
And the ten who battle the neverseen,
Shall unite in the place,
Where lays the last of its kind,
Hundred days from the celestial festival,
Shall they journey to the last island,
The demigods and elves shall fight as one,
To kill the drakon who is slayed by none."
And then Rachel collapsed.
"Well," Percy muttered, "That was a long prophecy."
But judging by the shocked faces of the others, he could tell that he was missing on some myth.
Again.
"Percy, it's not a joking thing. The drakon who is slayed by none! It's impossible to kill it." Annabeth said.
"Go figure." Percy said, in a flat tone.
"Percy, the drakon was exiled to the island by gods. It's about as old as the gods, and even the gods don't dare visit the island."
"Maybe the elves, whoever they are, will help! But how some tiny creatures with tights and pointy shoes will help us, I don't know!" Percy said, thinking back to the elf on the shelf Sally had brought for Estelle.
"Seaweed brain! After all the time you stayed in demigod world, do you seriously think that's how the real elves would be?"
Percy didn't know what Annabeth was talking about, but she had her I-am-thinking face. Maybe she would have a plan.
"You remember Hearth? My cousin's friend? He is an elf. But I don't remember anything called Neverseen. " Annabeth frowned.
Honestly, the gods have immortal lives, couldn't they take a few decades off? Apparently not!
Chiron came clattering towards them. Annabeth told him the prophecy and he started giving out orders, like calling Hazel and Frank here. According to him, the ten in the prophecy were, Percy, Annabeth, Hazel, Frank, Jason, Piper, Leo, Nico, coach Hedge and Tyson.
Sure Reyna had helped, but he insisted that one of the praetors had to remain at camp. Percy wasn't sure if that's how prophecy worked. But hey, Chiron was 1000s of years old, he would know better, right?
"But why the rush, Chiron? The first great prophecy took ages to come true. What says that this one will come true now?" Calypso asked.
After coming to camp half blood, she had been a lot helpful. After living alone from the population for centuries, her point of view was way different than a demigod and it helped the camp to figure out the problems better.
"Cal raised a good point, Chiron." Annabeth agreed. She was on better terms with Calypso now, but she still looks surprised when Calypso comes up with something good.
Chiron sighed, aging hundreds of years in a surprisingly short amount of time. It seemed like he knew something that he wasn't telling them. "Annabeth, the prophecy specifically mentioned the ten who defeated mother earth, that is, Gaea. It has to come to while you all are living."
"That doesn't mean it will come true now." Jason pointed out.
"True, but you can never be too careful." Percy and Annabeth shared a look.
Percy didn't believe Chiron, and from the look on Annabeth's face, she didn't either. But they didn't press it any further.
After dinner, percy iris-messaged Tyson to come. Nico had went to shadow travel Hazel and Frank from camp Jupiter. Once they were all here, they all went to the big house for meeting.
After Chiron repeated the prophecy for everyone, he said, "So, anyone any ideas?"
"I have been researching on the dedalus laptop. As far as I collected," Annabeth said, which would be very far, " 'The drakon who is slayed by none' is the one on the danger island. The last island, they say, because all the other islands around the drakon island were drowned because of the earthquakes caused by the dragon. As for the elves, I have no idea about them.
The last of its kind, it would mean a species that is going instinct. The drakon is one of it's kind. Maybe that's what it is? That's about all we know. But I have an idea. Reyna has taught me how to control demigod vision. It's very easy, like controlling normal mortal dreams, really. You think about the prophecy while going to sleep and you will have dreams about it. Hopefully, it will give us some info about the elves."
Chiron clapped his hands. "That's a good idea. Go to sleep then. Curfew is in one hour." The meeting dispersed. Percy was confused. Chiron seemed to be avoiding the topic, he finished the meeting in such a short time.
"You okay?" Percy asked, once they we out of earshot.
"Yeah! And try not to dream anything scary!" she kissed him on the cheek and went away to her cabin. He wasn't sure if he would be able to hold her up on that. He wasn't sure about a lot of things, apparently.
Sophie's POV:
Sophie and her all friends were sitting under Calla's panakes tree. They were discussing their problem with dwarves. Sophie wondered when she would ever be normal enough to be able to say that they had been sitting under the tree and playing something like truth and dare. Though, playing truth and dare with Keefe and Ro around seemed like a dangerous thing to do.
Before Sophie came to lost cities, she had always wished to be a demigod or a wizard or a shadow hunter. She wanted to be like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter and save the world. Now that she was actually doing it, she wondered if it was such a nice wish. Now, she wanted to be a normal elf with one ability. She wondered, offhand, if there were books written about her. "Sophie Foster and the Neverseen." That didn't have quiet the ring like Harry Potter. Her trail of thoughts were interrupted by Dex tugging her hair.
"Earth to Sophie. What are you thinking?"
"Me? Oh nothing, I was wondering if we will ever have a normal life!"
So of course, that's when the farthest thing from normal happened. The panakes blossoms that had been falling and those that had fallen on the ground started floating in the air and made a face with the blossoms in the air. And then the face spoke, literally. It's voice was like its vocal cords were made of leaves, which she supposed, was true. It said.
"The ten who defeated mother earth,
And the ten who battle the neverseen,
Shall unite in the place,
Where lays the last of its kind,
Hundred days from the next celestial festival,
Shall they journey to the last island,
The demigods and elves shall fight as one,
To kill the drakon who is slayed by none."
All the color had drained from Sandor's face. Grady who had been feeding the gorgodon nearby ran towards them.
"That was a prophecy!" Sophie said. She had read enough books to know that.
"No, it is the oath of the brave!" Grady corrected. He looked extremely pale.
Judging by her friends' faces, she was not the only one confused. Sandor explained, "Every time someone makes a brave sacrifice for the good of others, the mark of their sacrifice announces the future."
"In a very confusing way." Dex muttered.
"Yes, the oath tends to be confusing. The last time it happened..." Sandor looked into the distance as if remembering something, "It was of the four seasons tree. The gnomes had made a sacrifice. And we had found Greyfall. Now, Calla's sacrifice came to be rewarded." (A/N notice how both the sacrifices were of gnomes. No doubt, they are my favourite species. )
"It took four years for the Greyfall oath to come true, so maybe its not something that we will have to face." Grady said, though he looked doubtful.
"No," Sophie interrupted, the prophecy, the oath may sound confusing to the others but it made some sense to Sophie. Mother Earth, Gaea, drakon, demigod, it made a lot of sense to Sophie. And if Sophie was correct, they were going to meet her hero, Annabeth Chase.
"Hey, what are you thinking?" Keefe asked.
"Oh. Yeah, I was saying that this oath makes sense to me. And it will be fulfilled recently. It says 'hundred days from next celestial festival' which is", Sophie did a calculation, but gave up on elvish calendar and said,"soon."
Biana said, "And the ten that fight the neverseen would be, me, Sophie, Keefe, Fitz, Dex, Linh, Marella, Maruca, Wylie, and Stina."
"That is all ok, but what does this demogod..."
"Its demigod."
"Uh... yeah. What are those?"
"I think I know." Sophie was surprised. That came from Dex.
"I had seen this human movie where there are children with special powers, like us. Its called Percy Jackson. It was a good one."
"Movies... huh? Percy Jackson movies and good one don't go together. But yeah, I was talking about that. The book version, I mean."
"You know," Grady said, "you are making little sense."
"Uh... ever heard of gods?"
"Gods? The myths the humans made about our councillors after we left. Twelve Olympians after twelve councillors?"
"Well its gonna be a long day then. I'll explain. You might as well call the councilors and the collective. Saves time."
Author's note:
Whew! That was long. Hope you like it. The next chapter will be dream-vision of demigods about Sophie.
