The first night at The Anne House was filled with a sense of foreboding. As darkness enveloped the house, Sara and Leanna felt the air grow colder. They had set up cameras in various rooms, hoping to capture any signs of paranormal activity. They sat in the living room, watching the monitors and waiting.

Hours passed with nothing but the occasional creak of the old house settling. Just as they were beginning to relax, a series of loud knocks echoed from the front door.

Sara jumped, nearly knocking over her drink. "Did you hear that?"

Leanna nodded, her eyes wide. "Yeah, I did. It sounded like someone knocking."

They exchanged nervous glances. Sara grabbed a flashlight, and they cautiously approached the front door. The knocks grew louder and more insistent.

"Who's there?" Sara called out, her voice trembling slightly.

There was no response, just more knocking. Leanna reached for the doorknob, her hand shaking. She opened the door, but there was no one there. The porch was empty, and the night was still.

"Maybe it's just the wind," Leanna suggested, though she didn't sound convinced.

Sara shook her head. "No, that was too deliberate. Someone—or something—was knocking."

They returned to the living room, their nerves on edge. They tried to settle back into their routine, but the unease lingered. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway.

Leanna's eyes widened. "Did you hear that?"

Sara nodded, grabbing her flashlight again. "Let's go check it out."

They followed the sound, their footsteps cautious and deliberate. The hallway seemed to stretch on forever, the shadows closing in around them. As they reached the end of the hallway, the footsteps stopped abruptly.

"Hello?" Sara called out, her voice echoing in the silence. There was no answer.

Leanna shivered. "I don't like this, Sara. Something's not right here."

Sara agreed, but they were determined to see this through. "Let's head back to the living room and review the footage. Maybe we caught something on camera."

As they made their way back, a chill ran down Sara's spine. She glanced over her shoulder, feeling eyes on her, but saw nothing. They reached the living room and began reviewing the footage.

Just as they were starting to relax, the sound of a child's laughter echoed through the house. Sara and Leanna froze, their blood running cold. They knew they were not alone.
