Chapter 1: The Decision

Sara and Leanna were part of a renowned team of paranormal investigators known for their daring and thorough explorations of haunted locations. Their team, The Spectral Seekers, had gained fame for their investigations into some of the most infamous haunted hotels across the country. They meticulously documented every encounter, every whisper from the other side, and shared their findings with a dedicated audience of both believers and skeptics.

On a sunny afternoon in late spring, the team gathered in their modest but well-equipped headquarters. The room buzzed with excitement and a hint of apprehension as they debated their next investigation site. The air was filled with the hum of electronic equipment, the scent of freshly brewed coffee, and the sound of eager voices.

"I think we should stick to hotels," suggested James, one of their tech experts, tapping away at his laptop. "They're a controlled environment, and we've had great success with them. Plus, there's always a steady flow of ghost stories from guests."

Sara, the team leader with a calm and thoughtful demeanour, leaned back in her chair, tapping her fingers thoughtfully on the table. "Hotels are good, but I feel like we're ready for something different. Something more intense. We need a new challenge."

Leanna, always the brave and adventurous one, nodded in agreement. "I've been doing some research, and I came across a house in Winona. It's called The Anne House, and it has a dark history. People say no one has lived there for more than a month without fleeing in terror."

The room fell silent. The Anne House was notorious, even among seasoned investigators. Its reputation for malevolent hauntings was unmatched. Stories of ghostly apparitions, violent poltergeist activity, and inexplicable disappearances had circulated for decades.

"I've heard of that place," said Eric, the team's historian, looking up from his pile of old newspapers. "The stories are pretty gruesome. Some say the house is cursed."

James raised an eyebrow. "Are we really ready for something like that?"

Sara smiled, a mix of excitement and trepidation in her eyes. "I think we are. It's time to push our limits. We can't call ourselves serious investigators if we shy away from the most challenging cases."

After some more discussion, the team agreed. They would investigate The Anne House and spend three days and nights there, documenting everything they encountered. It was a decision that filled them with both excitement and a deep, underlying fear.

They spent the next few days preparing meticulously for the investigation. Their equipment was checked and rechecked, supplies were packed, and every member of the team was briefed on the house's dark history. They knew they were stepping into a place that many believed to be a portal to the other side.

On the day of their departure, the weather was unusually gloomy for spring. Gray clouds loomed overhead, casting a pall over the landscape as they loaded their gear into the van.

Sara glanced at Leanna, noticing the determined look in her eyes.

"Are you ready for this?" Sara asked, her voice soft yet serious.

Leanna nodded. "Absolutely. This is what we've been working towards. We can handle it."
