        He sat on a chair beside the bed. His wife lied on the bed.
         She had been ill for almost 2 weeks now.
         Doctors say there is no chance for her. Her end is coming soon.
         The man sat on the chair ,his handsome face looked pale , his body was very weak due to sleepless nights.
         His wife lay on the bed ,eyes closed , sleeping peacefully.
         He sat there , thinking about his future ,thinking about the days he would have to spent without her, without a person to look after him.
         He took her hand ,and held it tightly, closed his eyes and prayed for her health to return.

        He heard coughs and heard people talking and rushing here and there.
        He opened his eyes and realized he had fallen asleep.
        He found his wife coughing continuously. Doctors were trying their best to save her .
         She was in a critical state.
He rushed over to her and looked into her eyes and whispered "pls don't leave me ! I cannot live without you!".
         His wife looked at him and tried to say something while coughing helplessly.
        The coughing started getting quiter. She looked at him and slowly raised her hand pointing to the table towards a folded paper.
          She started talking with little coughs in between " You must marry again! You must find someone ! *coughs* and when *coughs* and when she's ready to*coughs* ready to marry you *coughs * you must give her this note".
          She started coughing more loudly due to lack of air.
         All this time he stood there listening to all, his wife was trying to tell him.
         He kept his hand on her chest and gave small pats so she could breathe more easily.
         The doctors kept saying her to stop speaking but she continued ...coz she knew there was no time left.
          He took the note and held it tightly in one hand and his wife's hand in the other.
          "You must ...*coughs * you must never read the note! * coughs*" she continued breathing heavily .
          He looked a bit startled at those words.
          Her coughs grew louder. Doctors could see it was her end.
She coughed continuously but quietly now.
          "You must never * coughs *
never read it!!!!* coughs *she continued.
           Her voice became a wispher now. "I'll be watching you!!!" she said her last words and slowly closed her eyes.
          The man stood there not ready to accept the fact that she just passed away.
          He shook her violently and pleaded her to wake up.
         The doctors tried to stop him but to no use. They sighed .              They have experienced these scenes quite a lot.
          He walked away from the room,looking at her for a last time. He walked slowly, looking very miserable.

         He looked around. There were many people for the funeral.
         Her mother was crying bitterly , her husband was trying to console her.
        He closed his eyes and started praying . He prayed for her to rest in peace.
        He tried to recall the memories with her.
       Suddenly he remembered the flashback of her last day.
       What she had given him and said to him between her coughs.
       He quickly put his hands in his pocket to feel the note.
        He felt it and felt an urge to read it. But he remembered his wife's words and promised himself never to read it.

       It's been three weeks since the death of his wife.
        His life began to get hard. He had no one to cook for him, to greet him when he gets back home , to hear his problems .
         He felt very lonely.He began to think of getting married again as his late wife had suggested.
         He began to look for ladies who might suit him.

        The next morning, he went for work. It was a fine morning.
        He arrived at his workplace at his usual time and was greeted by his assistant.
         His assistant was an unmarried women who was 5 years younger than him.
         He looked at her and thought about her features. She was a kind,hardworking lady.
         He thought about asking her for her hand .
         He started talking to her more often and tried getting close to her.
          He finally asked her and she readily accepted as he was handsome and a good natured guy.

          The next day he brought the note his ex wife had given him and gave it to his assistant.
            She read the note, and there was a change in her expression.
           She returned the note and then told him something which startled him.
          "Umm.....u know....Umm...I really...can't marry you ...because ...
u see....I have someone else ...I love " she said staring at her shoes.
          He thought for a minute and replied "Well! If you say so , it's your choice! "
         She said "I am sorry ! "and left the room.

          The next day when he reached his workplace, his assistant was nowhere to be seen.
          After half an hour, she came in and told that she was leaving and the company would replace her with another assistant.
         "You have been really kind! Hope you have a bright future! " he replied calmly.
          She looked down and and replied in a low voice "Thank you Sir!" and left the room quickly.

         In two days he was given a new assistant. A women whose husband had died.
     She was a year or two younger than him.
          She was a quiet and hard working lady. She had to work to make her both ends meet.

            He started talking to her asked her about her family.
          She explained that she had a little daughter and it's really hard for her to send her to school.
          She was planning on marrying again but needed to find someone who would take care of her daughter.
          Upon hearing these words ,he asked her if she would be willing to marry him.
         "If you would look after my daughter and love her then surely I would love to !"she replied with a bright smile.
         He gave her the note which he carried in his pocket and told her about his late wife.
         She read the note and a look of shock passed her face but she washed it away and told him she would decide tomorrow whether to marry him.

         The next morning , he looked fresh and happy as he was going to get married soon.
        When he reached his workplace , he found his new assistant sitting along with a little girl which he assumed was her daughter.
         He made a beeline towards them,the woman stood up as he neared.
         She looked at her daughter and stood there silently.
         He smiled and greeted her. She gave a little smile in return.
There was silence for a few minutes.
          Then the woman spoke up , trying to stop shaking.
          "Sir ! I am extremely sorry. My daughter...here doesn't...want a father ...right now ! "She said looking away from him.
          His bright face dropped on hearing those words.
        She continued "I got a call for a different job and so...I'll be leaving right away!"
         He was in for a shock ! Two assistants lost in the same week.
        He just nodded at her , and went to work.
         He was gloomy for a few days, while he waited for a new assistant.
         One day ,there did come an assistant but unfortunately it was a male!

        He lived for a month without a wife! He did keep looking for ladies but he was rejected everytime after the note was read.
          His patience was near the edge.
         He really felt like reading the note but...
"Do not read the note! I'll be watching you!"
These words kept running in his mind.

          The man had an idea! He went looking for ladies again.
          He met a fine lady, not very pretty but looked decent , got close and then asked for her hand!
          She accepted readily. As soon as she accepted he asked her "No matter what ...no matter what, promise me you'll never change your mind! "
          The woman, never before liked by a man, liked him quite a lot so she promised with a wide smile.
          The next day he showed her the note and...
....
          She showed a very shocked expression.
           He asked "When is the engagement? "
           She replied quickly " I am too young to get married. Maybe after 20 years !"
           With those words she left quickly .
         His anger was at its peek. He felt that his late wife was the best woman he knew loving than these idiotic  ladies!

After a few weeks , he found a beautiful lady who talked to him quite often.
He started liking her and vice versa.
They planned on getting married. But this time it was different.
He forgot to give her the note.
On the day of marriage ,when he finally remembered , he went towards her and kindly gave her the note not expecting her shocked expression.
