Chapter 6: Unseen Eyes

Author's POV

The small safehouse was silent, except for the sound of Y/N's uneven breathing. She kept her phone clenched tightly in her hands, staring at the last message with growing dread.

Unknown: You can run, Y/N. But you can't hide.

Every word made her skin crawl, a sharp reminder that no matter where she went, they would always find her.

Jungkook, sitting nearby, noticed her tense shoulders and reached out to gently pull the phone from her hands. His eyes narrowed as he read the message, and an unspoken fury flickered in his gaze.

"This isn't a game anymore," he muttered, his voice laced with anger. "Whoever this is... they're escalating."

Y/N looked up at him, trying to hide the fear in her eyes. "Jungkook, I don't know how much more of this I can take. It feels like they're everywhere."

He took her hand in his, his grip firm yet comforting. "You're not alone in this, Y/N. I'm here, and I'll do everything I can to protect you. We'll figure out who's behind this."

But even as he spoke, he couldn't shake the feeling that they were up against something far more dangerous than they realized.

Jungkook's POV

Throughout the day, he couldn't take his mind off that message. Whoever this was, they had access to every corner of Y/N's life. It felt like they were taunting him, daring him to let his guard down.

He watched Y/N closely, noticing the way she constantly glanced over her shoulder, as though expecting the stalker to materialize out of thin air. It pained him to see her this way-wary, fearful, as if her freedom had been stripped away.

In a rare moment of quiet, he caught her eye. "How are you holding up?"

She managed a faint smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. "Trying. It's hard to feel safe anywhere right now."

His heart clenched at her words, and he reached out, placing a hand on her shoulder. "We'll get through this, Y/N. I swear."

Later That Evening

Nightfall brought a new wave of anxiety, and Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. Jungkook had gone to check the doors and windows, making sure every lock was secure, but she still felt exposed.

Finally, she couldn't take the silence any longer. "Jungkook?"

He turned to her, his expression softening. "Yeah?"

"Do you... do you ever feel like we're being watched? Like, right now?"

He paused, his gaze scanning the room. "Honestly? Yeah. Whoever this is, they've been two steps ahead. But that doesn't mean we can't stay one step ahead of them."

She nodded, trying to take comfort in his words. But the fear lingered, a shadow that refused to be shaken.

Unknown's POV

From a hidden vantage point, the stalker watched the dim light spilling from the safehouse window. They tilted their head, smirking at the sight of Jungkook's silhouette moving back and forth, checking every corner of the room. It was almost too easy to predict their every move.

Unknown: Poor Jungkook. So vigilant. But you can't protect her from me.

They typed out a new message, chuckling as they hit "send." Watching the ripple of fear in their eyes was an exhilarating game, one they had no intention of ending soon.

Back in the Safehouse

A familiar chime pierced the silence. Y/N's phone lit up, and she hesitated before looking at the screen. Jungkook moved closer, his brows furrowing as he read the new message over her shoulder.

Unknown: Feeling safe yet?

A chill ran down her spine, and she looked at Jungkook, her voice barely above a whisper. "They're watching us, Jungkook. Right now."

The realization sent a surge of anger through him. He grabbed the phone, glaring at the words as though they could reveal the identity of the person behind them. "This ends now."

Without waiting for a response, he moved to the nearest window, peering out into the darkness. The woods surrounded the safehouse, cloaking it in shadows. But that also meant the stalker had plenty of places to hide.

He turned back to Y/N, his expression resolute. "Pack your things. We're not staying here another minute."

She looked at him, surprise flickering in her eyes. "But where will we go?"

"Somewhere they won't expect," he replied, his tone firm. "They may know where we are now, but they won't follow us if we keep moving."

---

On the Move

They packed hastily, grabbing only the essentials. Jungkook took her hand as they slipped out the back door, moving through the woods under the cover of darkness. The crunch of leaves and the rustling of branches felt deafening in the silence, every sound amplifying her unease.

Y/N glanced over at Jungkook, grateful for his calm presence. He guided her confidently, his hand never leaving hers. But she could feel his tension, the way his eyes darted to every shadow as though expecting danger to leap out at any moment.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they reached his car parked at the edge of the forest. They climbed in, and he wasted no time starting the engine and pulling onto the empty road.

As they sped away from the safehouse, Y/N couldn't help but glance back, half-expecting to see someone watching them from the trees. But the darkness revealed nothing, only the empty outline of the safehouse fading into the distance.

In the Car

Jungkook's hands gripped the wheel, his jaw clenched. The silence between them was thick, but words felt unnecessary. Y/N could feel his resolve, his determination to keep her safe, radiating from him.

Eventually, he broke the silence. "We'll find somewhere more secure. Somewhere this person can't reach us."

Y/N nodded, trusting him completely. Despite the fear that lingered in her chest, she felt a strange sense of calm. As long as Jungkook was by her side, she had hope.

She looked out the window, watching the scenery blur by. But as they drove further from the safehouse, the thought lingered in her mind-would they ever truly be safe?

---

Unknown's POV

The safehouse was empty, but the stalker's eyes remained trained on the trail Jungkook and Y/N had left behind. Their game was only just beginning, and the thrill of the chase was intoxicating.

They typed a final message for the night, watching as the screen illuminated their face with an eerie glow.

Unknown: Run all you want. I'm always watching.

With a smirk, they put the phone away, their mind already plotting their next move
